I stumbled upon St. Anthony's by total chance, and I could not have been happier! My dress budget was extremely low, $350 for both the dress and alterations. I had been looking at different Bridal thrift stores when I found St. Anthony's. They are a 501(c)3 charity with the mission to provide all brides with a wedding that doesn't break the bank. They are driven by the mission that no couple should start off their marriage in debt. I got my never-before-worn dress for $100.00. (It's perfect and I love it so much! As a bonus, because it still had the original tags on it so I know that I got the dress at over 80% off.)

But what are the dresses like? They are gorgeous! St. Anthony's had over 700 dresses in a variety of styles, sizes and colors. Some are second hand and others are brand new, donated from area wedding salons. They have dresses from David's Bridal and top end designers as well. It was a lot of fun to try all different dresses on and watch other thrifty brides say 'yes to the dress'.

This whole operation is a mission of a lady named Melanie, and she was absolutely wonderful. She was so helpful and kind. You could tell that she was passionate about giving brides a beautiful inexpensive wedding day. (Aside from dresses, she works with vendors who offer St.Anthony's brides reduced fees. She has a list of photographers, seamstresses, venues, etc.) Be warned that right now they are planning a move, so their current rental space is a little unconventional. At the moment, they are in a back room inside a dog kennel, but honestly, this had little effect on my experience. In fact, it added to the feeling of getting a great find.

So if you enjoy hunting for that 'find' and are ok with a second-hand dress, I highly recommend St. Anthony's Bridal.

I found such a beautiful, high-quality wedding dress for a beyond reasonable price. All of their dresses cost the same. You can find dresses that have been donated by boutique shops or once-used dresses from other brides. All of the dresses are beautiful and top notch. This is the only place I'll ever recommend brides go for dresses. I loooooved the dress I found; when I tried it on in the store strangers turned and looked at me and said that it was the one. And so many guests at the wedding complimented me. It was perfect for me and that's the way you want to feel about your dress.

I had already gone to David's Bridal to look for wedding dresses. I found a few I liked but most ranged from $600-$800 before alterations. This seemed like a lot to me for a dress I was only going to wear for a couple of hours. Many of the dresses looked kind of low-end, at least compared to the other dresses that were way out of my price range. I found St. Anthony's using wedding wire and decided to check it out. It's in the back of a pet groomer and is only open for a few hours every Saturday. It's a small space, crammed to the max with dresses and there are no chairs, so I wouldn't recommend bringing a large crew. I went with just one of my bridesmaids and sent photos to everyone else. They were literally hundred of used dresses to try on and we just looked through the racks and tried on whatever I liked. Yes, there were some really old dresses, but they also had stuff that I had literally tried on at David's Bridal a few weeks before! No one is there to help you, so bringing one friend is a good idea. I preferred the experience because I didn't feel like anyone was pressuring me to buy a dress to make a commission. When I found a dress I liked, I put it on hold for a week to think about it before going back to purchase it. I was able to look up the dress based on a tag inside it and it had originally retailed for several thousand dollars. All dresses here are the same price. 150. People were blown away that I was able to get such a nice dress for such a good price.

What an absolute blessing to me in preparing for my wedding. I had a specific vision in my head of the kind of dress I wanted, but knew I absolutely could not spend $5,000 (or more!!!) on a dress. I was able to find a beautiful gown at St. Anthony's.... on clearance for $75!!! I couldn't believe it! From there I had it dyed and altered to suit my taste, and ended up with a fairy-tale wedding dress for only $200... all because of St. Anthony's. I am so grateful for their vision and desire to make sure every bride is able to feel beautiful on her wedding day. I must also say the woman who was working at the desk was SO sweet and I loved her input/insight on the gowns I was pulling out to try on. Great customer service!

The only reason I'm not giving it a full 5/5 review is because of the location of the shop. It's truly bizarre that it's literally in the back of a doggy day-care center, and once you get back into the "shop" it's a mess. There are so many dresses that it's actually really hard to look at them on the racks - they're all mashed together, some even laying in piles on the floor. I think they've outgrown their space; it would be ideal if they put some more thought into their organization... and their "fitting rooms," which are just random corners with little dividers set up. These tiny nooks make it very difficult to try on big, fluffy gowns, and the gaps between the dividers make it feel not very private at all. I guess on the one hand all of this could add to the quirky, thrifty charm of the shop, but I personally would prefer something a little more conventional.

Overall, my friends and I had a lot of fun shopping at St. Anthony's and you simply can't beat their prices! As with any thrift shopping, it's a hit or miss... but it's definitely worth a shot. :)

St. Anthony's Bridal is a non-profit organization aimed at helping brides with small budgets afford their weddings. For example, brides with budgets less than $3,000 (I think?) for their entire wedding can borrow a used wedding dress for free. However, ANYONE can purchase a dress from them and all of their dresses are $300 or less, most of them being $150. Don't go expecting a typical bridal experience - they are only open on Saturday mornings for two hours and you have to search through roughly-organized dresses yourself and try them on yourself as well. I would definitely recommend bringing a friend or family member to help you search and get dressed. While this may not be for everyone, if you commit to the search process (even going back multiple weekends, since they get dozens of newly donated dresses every week), you can really strike gold! The dress I found is a designer dress that retails at over $1,500 new. It only had a little dirt on the bottom hem and a few buttons that needed to be re-sewn and I got it for $150. And since I spent so little on the actual dress, I was able to afford to have major changes made to the dress to customize it and make it my own unique dress! I am so glad I found St. Anthony's Bridal and would really recommend everyone check it out if you're on a tight budget and don't mind a) wearing a used dress and b) having a "thrift store" experience as you search for it.

If you are looking for a preowned/donated dress at a great price with a good-sized selection, then this is the place for you! All wedding gowns are only $150 and they have affordable accessories as well. The volunteer staff here are terrific. My mom and I initially had some trouble figuring out how to tie the corset back to a dress and they helped us learn how to do it. They then brought me dresses that they thought I would like based on the first dress I picked out. They allow you to put dresses on hold for a week or two (great if you need some time to decide and get the money together). They clearly enjoy helping brides feel beautiful, and they treat everyone with dignity and respect. After trying on some other dresses, I ended up getting the first dress I tried on! The label says Maggie Sottero, no alterations were required, and I got a matching veil for $15. Very good quality for much cheaper than David's Bridal. Even if my dress hadn't been there I found another one that I think would have gotten. Though I didn't need one, they told me that they have a seamstress who can do alterations.

The location is a bit hard to find and they are only open for a couple of hours per week. If you are looking for a designer dress then you may get lucky, or you may not. But if you're just looking for a wedding gown that makes you feel beautiful at an amazing price, then this place is definitely worth a visit. And perhaps best of all, your money goes toward helping couples with smaller budgets have wonderful weddings.

Make sure you bring cash or checks, as they do not take cards

I bought my wedding dress at St Anthony's Bridal and my husband-to-be donated his late wife's gown there. We were so pleased to put her dress to a good cause and I loved the dress I bought. It's a charity with the shortness of staff and lack of space you can expect at a small charity. So come prepared to be patient and dig a bit. If you want a salon experience this is not the place. I, however, hated the salon experience and loved this. I had room in my budget for more important things, a dress got a second life, my husband's late wife's dress went to a good cause (which we believe she would love), and we contributed to a meaningful local charity. It's a win all the way around.

I went to St. Anthony's Bridal with my sister not really expecting to find a dress, but more out of curiosity. I had been dress shopping for awhile and was convinced that I was never going to have 'that moment' when you find the perfect dress. However the ladies at St. Anthony's Bridal were so helpful and very excited to help me find a great dress. Though there is a smaller selection for small dress sizes, I found an amazing ABS Allen Schwartz dress in my size that I absolutely fell in love with! All of the dresses here are clean and very well taken care of. And the $150 price cannot be beat. In fact, I planned on donating the dress back after my wedding - but I love it so much I decided to keep it!

I donated a gown and accessories to this 'charity' in January. I included, per their instructions, a completed donor form and SASE so they could acknowledge my contribution. I have proof of delivery from UPS but have never received my acknowledgement, despite several phone calls and e-mails. This is AWFUL.

St. Anthony's Bridal is the perfect place for brides-to-be to select from an array of wedding gowns which fits their budget. Why spend $600 on a dress when you can buy one just as pretty or prettier for $150? I got my dress & shoes at St. Anthony's Bridal for under $200. I was one happy bride AND I loved my dress along with my guests but most importanly my groom. If you are on a (tight) budget for your wedding but still want a nice dress (or shoes, veil, etc), I would suggest St. Anthony's Bridal.
