Despite the negative rating I would definitely get married here again. The cathedral is beautiful and located in a great location. There aren't a lot of Episcopal churches in Chicago and this is by far the most beautiful. That was our number one requirement for a church and it was by far exceeded. That being said, I want other brides to know what they're getting into so they're prepared. Nancy, the wedding coordinator there, is terrible. She is a very nice woman, but she is difficult to get in contact with, and totally lost her mind before our ceremony. She frequently didn't return emails and when she finally did she often didn't answer the questions we asked. During the rehearsal she was organized and professional (despite starting half an hour late). However, the morning of she freaked out before the ceremony (our photographer was late and she didn't know what to do) and lost it. She sent people down in the wrong order (including the groom!), she forgot to get me in time, our entrance was totally off - everything was rushed and crazy. It was not an enjoyable way to start the ceremony. There are a lot of fees associated with having your wedding here and they have a million rules about what can and can't be done. However, they did let us use our own officiant from another church and include a couple of untraditional things (a Shakespeare reading and a parental blessing) into the ceremony. They make themselves sound more rigid than they are, the church is willing to work with you on certain things. Overall it was a beautiful ceremony in a gorgeous sanctuary. I do not regret having it there for one second, but be prepared to deal with a number of frustrations along the way.
