In a time when everything is harried and hurried, Bonnie reminds us of what is real and what is important. Her message is clear - good food, family, community and practical lifestyle advice for all

As the owner of "Sweet Christina’s Bakery and Café" in Fairfax, Virginia, (an off-shoot of her award-winning Christina’s at the Bailiwick Restaurant) she is winning an audience with her food for the body,
spirit and soul.

In her roles as author, radio show host, television contributor, syndicated columnist, magazine editor and keynote speaker; what has been consistent is her timeless message on the importance of good living. She is an accomplished gourmet cook, gardener, and all-around homemaker. Her most valued gift however, is her knack for connecting with people. To quote Bonnie, “When I prepare a meal,
people get it – it’s not about the food but the people who eat it”.

Throughout the years, Bonnie has contributed to KUSA and FOX-5 Morning News in Washington, DC as a family and lifestyle contributor. She has appeared on Fox &Friends on the FOX Network, and most recently appeared alongside White House Pastry Chef Roland Mesnier during a live broadcast on the morning news. As a writer, Bonnie penned a syndicated column for the Times Community Newspapers. Additionally, she was the family communications and relationships editor for Family Digest Magazine with her columnRecipes for Good

Bonnie’s message is culminated in her book, In The Eye of The Storm: A Celebration of Family and the Real Purpose of Home, which received rave reviews from Essence Magazine’s Mikki Taylor. As part of her community outreach Bonnie founded The Mother Link, a non-profit 501c3 organization and organization dedicated to educating, advocating and supporting women in their roles as mothers.

Answering calls to support all of our communities, Bonnie was a segment co-host, along with James Avery (former co-star on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) on Princeville 2000, a nationally televised telethon, benefiting the historic settlement of Princeville, NC that was devastated by a hurricane. Recognized for her hard work and dedication to
family life, Bonnie was nominated as Mother of the Year 2001 for the state of Virginia by American Mothers, Inc. Serving as the former National Chair for the AMI’s Mothering Mentoring Program, she was responsible for defining the national mentoring program to teach mothers how to mentor other mothers on a national level. In 2001, Bonnie was keynote speaker for Kathy Ireland’s 12th Annual Mentor Tea for single teen mothers (presented by
Kmart) in conjunction with Shaquille O‘Neal’s Athletes and Entertainers for Kids Foundation in Los Angeles, CA. She has also been a featured speaker at The Women’s Center annual leadership Conference in Vienna, VA. Recognized as a positive force in the community, the White House in 1999 called on Bonnie to lend her voice on the issues concerning youth violence and was a special invitee during the Initiative on Youth Violence announcement by President and Mrs. Clinton at the White House Rose Garden ceremony. That same year she was featured in the May issue of Essence Magazine offering advice on communication and bonding activities for mothers and daughters. Read less

Bonnie McDaniel is an amazing woman, and her passion for the arts and all things good in life come through in her cakes. She used organic and all natural ingredients. Guests told us that our cake was the most delicious they had ever tasted. The design was elegant and really us...when she met with us to discuss designs, she really listened to what we wanted and got to know us as a couple. Even though we didn't give her a picture for her to replicate exactly, her design was perfect for us on our day.

Bonnie, made the most beautiful cake I have ever seen (also tasted great!). She views wedding cakes as an art and can and will make anything you desire. She was a pleasure to work with. Sweet Christina's Cakes were very affordable-the best vendor we had! I was not that excited about the wedding cake going into it but it turned out to be my favorite part of the wedding and the thing we had the most complimetns on!

Bonnie McDaniel, proprietor of Sweet Christina's Bakery, can be coined a "one-stop-shop" when it comes to planning your special day. My then fiance and I were more than happy to find such a talent right in our backyard! Bonnie served as our wedding coordinator, caterer, wedding cake designer, and was responsible for the flowers and decor of both the ceremony and reception. She also made suggestions regarding the ceremony and reception sites. We were simply blessed to find someone whose knowledge of the wedding industry, eye for beautiful design, and long list of desirable contacts was available to us at a fair cost. Our day was truly beautiful...from start to finish. Bonnie's extensive background in customer service, professional air and highly personable demeanor really relieved alot of the stress of planning and when the months ahead turned into weeks and then several days, we found we were on schedule and our business relationship with Bonnie had blossomed into a friendship that has lasted. My mom and I must have spent hours planning with Bonnie at her bakery, but in the end, it was well worth it! Weddings are not 100% problem or stress-free (as anyone will tell you), but if you're going to plan one and do it correctly, Sweet Christina's should be your first stop. And by the way, the cake was stunning and tasted absolutely delish...and at the end of the day, that's what it's all about, isn't it?
