I was recommended by my bridal boutique to have alterations done at Rio's. My dress needed to be taken in quite a bit. I had a sample sale gown and the chiffon had some snags in it. I tried on my dress 3 separate times for Edward and now it fits perfectly! He was able to fix up the snags in the chiffon and added a bustle to my train. It was kind of expensive, but I wanted to make sure that I was receiving quality service!

I called Tailoring by Rios three months before my wedding, needing minimal alternations. They worked me into their schedule quickly, and Edward was SO great to work with! He explained how my dress was designed to minimize the beautiful lace being cut and showed me examples of different bustle styles. I needed to have my dress ready to wear for my bridal portraits a month later, and it was perfectly altered and ready to go when I picked it up. They normally schedule three appointments with each bride to make sure all the alterations are just the way you them, but I just didn't have the time, which they so graciously accommodated.

I had my gown altered at Tailoring by Rios. They were recommended by my bridal salon and I was so glad they did! I loved working with Edward, he made dress alterations such a breeze. They are on the pricey side but the quality of work is exceptional. We made a lot of changes to the dress to help with the fitting and comfort and Edward was very helpful each step of the way being honest on what would work and what would not. I will use them for future alterations because they were that great. They also give out an adorable emergency kit when you pick up the gown which shows they care about your special day!

So I bought my dress in my old home state of CT but I had recently moved to TX where I was going to get married. I was really frantic to find a place that would alter my dress as a lot of dress store use either outside tailors or won't take outside dresses. I had lost about 20 pounds after buying the dress so the dress needed to be taken in a lot. I found Tailoring by Rios and from the phone call to picking up my dress I was made to feel comfortable and reassured about my decision. I was originally to have 3 appointments the initial, the 1 st alterations and final approval. Unfortunately at what was to be the last appointment I still wanted a few tweaks and they were able to do it and have it ready for final pick up within the next 2 days. Now as for cost I don't know if what they charged was expensive but I know I had an intricate dress that needed a lot of alterations and I was super happy and satisfied in the end.

I bought my wedding dress off the rack and it fit almost perfectly (except that I am short and did not fill in the bust). I took my dress to Tailoring By Rios and was very satisfied with the price and result. I had my dress shortened, taken in at the bust, and bustled. I had to make a total of 4 trips to the salon over a 3 month period (initial fitting, trial fitting, final fitting, and final pick up). The last trip was optional as a complimentary steaming of my gown was offered and I wanted to wait until closer to my wedding to have it steamed and picked up.

The best part about the alteration was the bustle! I had just been the maid of honor for my friend and her dress was a nightmare to bustle. I expressed my concerns at the initial fitting and Edward made me feel much better. The bustle was hassle free and easy for my mom to work with (she was unable to attend any of the fittings).

I would HIGHLY recommend Tailoring by Rios, they may be pricier than the average tailor, but the rapport and expertise is worth the little extra. The ease of the bustle and peace of mind was worth it enough for me to spend the extra money.

Talk about perfect! My mom and I both had our dresses altered here, and the quality and way we were treated can't be beat.

Rio’s did an absolutely terrible job on my dress. It was a sample size, and I’m quite small, so there was a lot of work that needed to be done. However, during the first round of alterations, they completely reshaped the top of the dress. Had I known they were going to do this, I would not have agreed. The neckline was crooked, the boning appeared jagged, and my chest fell out whenever I moved an inch or even inhaled. They tried to fix it by taking in the waist (their suggestion) to help the dress stay up, and when I went to pick it up again the bodice was about two inches too small – it wouldn’t even come close to zipping. The tailor told me this was the result of me asking them to make the bodice stay up. They tried to fix it, and when I went back to pick it up I was able to zip it, but the bodice and its pleating were saggy, the boning was clearly visible, and the top of the dress was uneven. The whole thing looked shapeless, and my chest was still very close to being exposed. At one point, the tailor also told me the hem was too long because I had been holding it “artificially high” when he pinned it. Everything that went wrong was somehow my fault, and the dress got worse each time I went back to get it. I ended up taking the dress to a different tailor one week before my wedding and paying rush charges for her to fix it. The whole experience at Rio’s is shocking to me, because they have a wonderful reputation, and I’ve had several friends leave there with perfectly tailored dresses. I’m not sure what went wrong with mine, but I don’t appreciate being blamed for their mistakes. I’m a very reasonable person, and I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but my experience with Rio’s was one of the worst I can remember.

Let me just start by saying that I was EXTREMELY happy with Tailoring by Rios.
I had every brides worst nightmare happen to me. I took my dress to a local tailor shop in Sherman, Tx that "had a good reputation". She had my dress for 3 weeks then called me in for my first fitting. As soon as I put the dress on and stood in front of the mirror, I just started crying. My dress was RUINED. I didn't want her to touch my dress anymore than she already did and took my dress home (yes, she still made me pay her!!!). Devastated, I went online to find another tailor shop. I only had 17 days left until my wedding and thought there was no way anyone could fix my dress in time for this Saturday 8/29. I then found Tailoring by Rios on Wedding Wire and called them crying, explaining the situation. He told me he has an 8 week minimum rule for wedding dresses and I begged him to take a look at my dress. Fort Worth is about 2 hours from Sherman with traffic, so Thursday 8/13 I drove to Fort Worth before work and dropped off my dress. I couldn't believe he was actually going to take the time to help me and fix my dress. I swear he had over 200 dresses in his shop. I don't know how he made it work. on Thursday 8/20 I drove back for my fitting. My dress was BEAUTIFUL again. There were a few more things he needed to get done so I left it there and went back this morning for my final pick up. Needless to say he completely fixed my dress and made it perfect. I wish I would have taken pictures of it after the dress was ruined by the first tailor shop. It looks like a totally different dress now. Not only was Tailoring by Rios extremely helpful and fixed my dress, but also very accommodating and worked with me on my schedule as I worked the same hours they are open and could not take off work. I was allowed to come in early before their business hours which I am so thankful for. Their pricing is VERY FAIR! Highly recommended.

I recently took a bridesmaid dress to get hemmed (just hemmed-not altered) and was charged $125.00 to get the dress taken up a few inches. I was absolutely flabbergasted...I don’t know about you, but I think that is just ridiculous. I have taken things there in the past, but was overly disappointed this time. I will never go back and will not recommend to friends. That is just wayyyy too expensive.
