I actually found Tarabrook Events by googling for event decorators in Kalamazoo. She was wonderful when I met her months in advance before my wedding. I was excited about the fact that she had "waterfall chair covers" as they appear to be very chic and would very much compliment the decorations of my wedding. I did communicate that we were expecting 200 guests. The owner told me that it should not be a problem. I also asked her to do a ceremony backdrop for our church location and was able to show her a picture of how I wanted it.

As my wedding date got closer, I tried communicating to her through e-mail. However, she had technological problems so it took days before she could respond to her email. I also asked her if she would be able to show me a sample of the backdrop as she tells me that it would be the first time she will be doing a tall backdrop. She said that I would have to pay to see a sample as it is very labor intensive -- which is completely understandable. However, she did say that she would be able to make a mock one. Unfortunately, it never happened.

Approximately 3 weeks before my wedding, she sent me an email saying that she will not be able to do my chair covers because she will not be able to provide the amount of chair covers that I have asked. She said that she was not able to receive the email of my confirmed guest count so it would be too late for her to get extra chair covers. This was something I really did not want to handle 3 not even 4 weeks before my wedding as I tried to organize my wedding appropriately.

The day before my wedding, she sent me an email asking if she could borrow a ladder for the backdrop she will be working on at my church. I felt as if this should have been her responsibility and not mine to figure out especially the day before my wedding. Another thing, the backdrop that she made fell before the wedding ceremony started and after!!!! Thankfully, God was good to us for it not to fall during the ceremony!

It takes a long time to go through in excess of 120 emails between this client and I , but I definitely have everything "in black and white" so to speak, including our agreement that states that this client was reserving 170 chair covers. I made it very clear to her that if the quantity was going to increase I needed to know right away due to limited stock, if I needed to order more. Our email correspondence shows that I contacted her on June 11 for her final count, and on June 16 she responded that her count was at 250, maybe more. I then advised her that she may need to try to locate a company that she could get the 70 additional covers from, and I also immediately started desperate attempt to locate the amount of covers that would now be needed, and I was able to locate additional covers from another company.She responded that she had located another supplier, and so would not need the chair covers from me. Imagine my surprise when the covers that she ended up with were standard chair covers, of which I had plenty of! We had daily email correspondence from then on, and there was never anything mentioned that I would not be able to receive future emails. That comment is very confusing to me. She was advised at the very beginning that if the church did not have a ladder tall enough I would need to bring my own. I had been told yes, and I was just confirming that a few days prior. Even after we REPEATEDLY requested that the people at the church did not push the altar table up against the backdrop supports, it kept on happening, both during set up and tear down, thus moving the two center supports out from underneath the top of the backdrop, causing it to tip forward. We were there both times to catch it. It never actually fell. It did not happen during the ceremony because after seeing the problem they were causing they eventually paid heed to our concerns by the time we left the church, but there were different people there after the ceremony.

We used Tarabrook to provide decor services at our wedding reception. Kristin decorated our head table, cake table, and candy table, as well as a provided a backdrop for our head table. Everything looked beautiful, especially the candy table which she did a wonderful job with. The only thing that was a little distracting was that she started to take things down at the reception toward the end of the night before it was completely over, so I felt like I needed to attend to making sure that she was getting everything she needed back so that we got our deposit back. And I think it also made the guests feel like the reception was over before it was because things were getting taken down. Other than that, Kristin was wonderful to work with and I would recommend her to anyone!

I thought the decor provided by tarabrook was very beautiful, however i thought the owner was unorganized and not very kind. I wish I would of shopped around. There is too much going on during a wedding event for people to make you feel like they don't want to be there:( Even though she was being paid. She also advised us two days before the wedding that she would not take a check. She requested a money order which was one more thing we had to figure out before the wedding. I can still picture her walking by me and not smiling or saying anything, like I didn't exist. I wasn't the only one who felt this by her presence.

It is really difficult to know how to respond to this, as I have never, in all of the years I've been in business, heard anything like this, in fact, always just the opposite. I apologize if I appeared unfriendly in any way. All I can recall on the day of the wedding was several different, friendly interactions with the bride and her family. When I first arrived at the site, and was concentrating on the task ahead, I didn't even know I had walked past anyone as I was thinking about a million different things. When she said my name I was surprised because I honestly had not seen anyone, let alone her. Disorganized? Thankfully I lived close to the venue because if I hadn't I wouldn't have been able to do some of the decor I did due to the venue setting things up in such a way the decor that had been agreed on could not be executed. Many vendors would have taken a "too bad" attitude, and done what they could do, but it was important to me to make everything look as good as possible, which included having to leave the location, go and pick up different supplies, and return to the site, and they were not charged anything extra for this. As listed on the last page of the clients agreement, I ask for final payment in the form of cashiers check or money order. This should not have been a surprise. I also fulfilled my part of our agreement , even against agreement terms, as the client did not return the signed agreement to me with a security deposit. I have never done a set up without a signed agreement and deposit in place, but rather than upset everything and make a big deal out of it, I elected to proceed as I had no desire to upset things on a wedding day by insisting on this. Lastly, even though this was totally my own problem, I did explain to the bride that I was not myself that day right at the beginning as I had woken up with a horrible headache, and even though I said it was better, it wasn't. I sincerely apologize for lack of many of my usual smiles, or anything that appeared less than friendly in my attitude. No good deeds go unpunished I guess.

I was absolutely taken back when I first walked into my reception. Everything was gorgeous and Tarabrook Events was a very large part of the reason why. The backdrop that was created behind the head table, just popped! It really added to the space and made it stand out in all the right ways. The beautiful ruched, spandex chair covers with sash, were so elegant and such a great touch as well. The cake table was my favorite part! They had placed our cake on a glass riser with twinkle lights underneath and rose petals and candles around the entire thing. It was so pretty! The cost was EXTREMELY reasonable and we could not have been more happy with how friendly and amazing Kristin was. The room looked even better than we had imagined it and were so thankful that we had chosen Tarabrook Events!

BEAUTIFUL satin chair covers and candy bar assembly at our August wedding!!! It was all assembled before I arrived and taken down the next day...with out any help from us! Kristin even supplied us with 30 chairs for the family for our outdoor ceremony which was not something she normally does!!! LOVED the pride and talent that went into her work!

Her decorations looked great. She offered a lot of choices. It was a little stressful trying to contact her. It usually took about 5-7 days for her to return phone messages/e-mails. Also, it took her several weeks to send the deposit back because she thought she had already done it.

I just am very surprised at the ratings from client. The 40% discount that she recieved on accessories, a retail $576.94 invitation order that she recieved for $333.24,a full cake table, head table,and gift table decor, dance floor ceiling with tulle and a candle chandalier, 25 feet of railing, a 20 foot lit fabric backdrop behind her head table and a 5 foot lit fabric backdrop behind the cake table, plus an additional glass riser for her cake to sit on that she didn't ask for but I included, all for $400.00 is a great value for cost in anyone's book. Oh, I forgot to mention chair covers installed with sash for $3.50 each. Not to mention traveling 140 miles with no charge. I have reviewed all e-mail coorespondence and interestingly what I have record of is actually client not responding to me, including a concern of mine with no response from her after two weeks and two e-mails from me and finally a third regarding getting her invitations on order. All other responses from me via e-mail were within one to two days. Phone calls may have been longer, but I don't have any record of those, and clients are told from the beginning always that the best way to contact me is via e-mail. Phone calls are also frequently returned via e-mail as it is too late to return phone calls when I get home at night after appointments. The deposit was sent back 6 weeks after the event, which was my fault entirely. A bookeeping error that fell through the cracks during my change over of banking institutions.Again, surprise on my part. I don't know how I could have been any more flexible, as I certainly cannot recall anything that she requested that wasn't agreed to. The quality of my service and items that I provide has never been anything but excellent, and I'm saddened by someone implying anything else.

Exceptional decorating! Kristin is so easy to work with and listens to what you want. She's decorated many churches and reception halls in the Kalamazoo area. My candelabras were amazing, I still have seen nothing like them. They were gorgeous. The lighting around the table skirts and the back drops were beautiful. When nighttime came the reception hall just glittered of candles and lights. I had a great value for all that she provided, which was alot. I also highly recommend her chair covers!

The decorations that Kristin pulled together set the scene our daughter had always wanted.
From back drops, chair covers and a wonderful ballooning effect on the ceiling to enhance the romantic mood. Kristin added unique table covers to the cocktail tables that tied the room together and added her touches that set the ball room aglow. There were no disappointments with her service, she was timely on delivery and setting everything up and taking care of her items the next day. She added her special touches that went beyond what we had expected. The bride and her family felt we had a GREAT value and wonderful experience dealing with Kristin.

Kristin save us! We had one reception hall booked and it feel through so we had to settle for another hall that was dated looking and did not have the elegant look we wanted. I was really upset at the look of the hall and how dark it was. So, Kristin can in and went above and beyond what we were expecting with lights, candles and table decorations! I am one for candles and romantic lighting and Kristin came through for us plus other decorations we were not expecting but LOVED! Thank you do much Kristin!

I loved the decorations that Kristin did. It was easy to call and set up what we wanted. We did quite a bit of the decorating ourselves but I had her do the head table with the lit backdrop. It was absolutely gorgeous and such a load off to not have to worry about that part of things. The price was good for what we had done and well worth the lower stress. I was very pleased with everything.
