I had driven by Terry's a million times and never looked twice at the Storefront. However after a not so great visit to a "big box" wedding dress store, my mom suggested we try it. I found my dress and was pleasantly surprised by the price tag. I used them for my alterations as well and were able to take the dress in significantly and work an elaborate bustle into the organza. There were times when I was at my fitting while a group of 5 or 6 girls were trying on bridesmaids dresses, slightly annoying (but maybe only because I was a bride and wanted it to be all about me?) however other than the occasional weeknight busyness, I had a great experience with the ladies from Terry's.

I got my wedding gown and bridesmaid's dress from Terry's. I actually found my gown in another store, but liked the people at Terry's better so wanted to order it through them. They didn't carry the particular dress, but did carry the designer so they were able to order it for me. For some reason, the bridesmaid dress we ordered took quite a few month to come in, but we ordered it with plenty of time so there was not an issue. Both dresses were sized wonderfully and my gown only needed the hem and bustle altered while my bridesmaid didn't need any alterations at all. It was a great experience and I would recommend the shop to my friends.

After visiting about a dozen bridal shops, I finally found “the one” at Terry’s Bridal. Terry’s carries unique, high quality dresses, and they respect your budget and work with you to find a dress that fits the range you are looking to spend. Terry and her sister are so sweet, they really treat you like family. I visited Terry’s to try on the dress a couple times before buying it, and they were very patient with me. There is no high pressure sell at Terry’s, but they do offer their feedback and honest opinions which are on target given their years of experience in the bridal business. My mother also purchased her dress at Terry’s. I did have my alterations done at Terry’s, and they were done well, but one or two times I had to wait 20-30 minutes from the start of my appointment for my dress because the seamstress was finishing it up. Despite having weeks to work on the dresses, apparently the seamstress only works on dresses immediately before the fitting appointments. I would not recommend having your gown cleaned and preserved through Terry’s – they send the dresses out to a service and it takes months. I dropped my dress off in August and it was not ready to be picked up until March! Overall, I do recommend Terry’s for the great selection of dresses and the friendly service.

I wish I had read more reviews about Terri’s before I agreed to get my alterations there. Let me first start off by saying that my dress was beautiful. I got so many compliments on the dress itself. However, the absolutely poor quality of work that was performed on it was outright unacceptable.

I live in the mid-Atlantic area, but decided to get my dress up north so that my family could be involved in the “dress buying” process. I had wanted something thin and flowy, and in the area I live, everything was a ballgown and 40lbs of material. I found my dress at Terri’s almost immediately. She had many more “destination” dresses to choose from than many other stores.

But the entire dress fitting and alterations was a disaster. I had to fly up for my dress fitting, which of course isn’t a big deal. I knew I would have to do that when I bought it. But when you tell a store this, and have just paid them $1000 for a dress, you would expect a little consideration with your time and travel. The first time I went for a dress fitting, everything was fine. It needed to be taken in a bit, hemmed, and have a bustle added. Pretty standard procedure stuff. I was told that it was simple enough, I wouldn’t need another fitting, and because the material was only two layers, it would be a fairly uncomplicated alteration. This was February 22nd. I made a follow up to try it on again April 27th.

I flew back up on April 27th, and arrived early to my appt at 2:00pm. I was finally greeted around 2:20. The owner of the shop went to go see about the dress, and left me waiting for about 15 minutes. She came back and told me that the dress wasn’t done because the seamstress had an emergency earlier that day for another dress. So basically, in the 9 weeks that had passed, and had the dress in their possession, she hadn’t done crap to my dress! I was really pissed, because I had just flown up there, 8-9 weeks had passed, and NOTHING had been completed. The seamstress was apparently trying to “rush” to get the bustle done, which infuriated me even more, because you should not be rushing on a wedding dress! The owner tried to talk me into coming back in 2 weeks to try it on again, but at this point it was too close to my wedding, and I couldn’t fly up again. After all, I was told that I would really only need one fitting since my alterations were “easy,”, and stupid me listened to her. My mother-in-law had to pick up my dress and drive it down.

I tried the dress on the night before the wedding, and they had managed to take it in as previously requested, and put in the bustle. But they stitched through all of the fabric, so you could see the bustle seams very blatantly. And, just like in other reviews, my dress was way too long. I don’t even know if it was hemmed. I was stepping and tripping over my dress the entire day of my wedding. My shoes were supposed to be 1.5”, and I had to switch to 3” because it was so long. But I was still stepping on it! My first dance was a fast salsa dance, and unfortunately I had a lot of difficulty because I kept tripping over it.

Terri’s does have a good selection of dresses, but do not get alterations there. I was so immensely disappointed that I had to carry my dress the entire day of my wedding so I wouldn’t fall. All of the chaos of dealing with them and the traveling was so not worth the product I got in the end.

I flew from Los Angeles, one of the places that has amazing dresses to choose from, to get my dress at Terry's in Norwood. They have the best quality dresses that stand out from the rest! My dress was absolutely beautiful! They worked with me for as long as I needed to find the perfect dress! I even went back the next day after I purchased it to try it on again before I flew back home to Los Angeles. They have been in business for so many years and really know what they are doing! Such talented and kind women at Terry's! Even my seamstress here in Los Angeles who took care of my gown, said she had never worked with such a beautiful quality gown before! And she has been in business for 30+ years here in LA! I love Terry's and can't wait to go back to visit them with pictures!!

I had great experience picking out my wedding dress and my bridesmaid dresses. I even changed the style and the colors of my bridesmaid dresses before I ordered them and they were very accommodating. I had some difficulty with the seamstress. I had to argue with her to get the alterations I wanted. The boning in my dress was poking out at my hips so you could see it. She said that is just the way the dress is. Finally she agreed to fix it and it looked a lot better. I would recommend buying the dress from them but if your alterations are more than a hem I would go somewhere else.

Terry's Bridal was an example of a wedding vendor who started our strong but fizzled the more I interacted with them.

My mother and I went to look at dresses on a Thursday evening. The shop was pretty much dead and the saleswoman was incredibly helpful. We browsed the stock together, she gave suggestions, and made me feel comfortable trying on dresses with her. When I was debating between two dresses she gave me her honest opinion. She actually recommended the less expensive of the two (both of which were well within the budget I'd given her) which made me feel confident that she was in no way upselling me. This part of the experience was easy.

All of my future interactions with Terry's Bridal involved prearranged appointments. I'm a prompt person but the store was always late. It never seemed to be because a previous appointment had gone over (I never saw someone leave right before they met with me) but because everyone was in a back room chatting. (You could hear them from the store!)

My first fitting went well. My dress needed to be hemmed, shoulder straps shortened, and cups added. Before I came in for my second fitting, however, I got a phone call saying the seamstress had some family issues and would not finish my dress in time. I was asked if I could delay my appointment by a week which was fine with me. I came in and the dress was still too long. The seamstress insisted that I was wearing different shoes than at my first appointment which wasn't true. I got the feeling that she still hadn't gotten to that most intricate part of the alterations (the bottom of my dress was lace and somewhat complicated to hem) but instead of owning up to it (if there was a family emergency it would not have been a problem) I somehow got blamed. I had also gained a few pounds and it was during the summer's heatwave so we decided to take the dress out. I'm not weight obsessed and was fine with it but the seamstress was very blunt about me being too fat for the dress now. We did a second adjustment to the straps as well.

I came back for a third fitting and the hem and bustle were done. The seamstress also believed that the straps were now too short and changed them up again. The day of my wedding the straps were frequently falling off my shoulders, including in my first dance photos. It was far from the end of the world (we still got married and I still love my husband!) but it was rather annoying given all the money you pay for alterations.

Overall, I might recommend brides go to Terry's for their dress purchase but maybe find someone else to complete the alterations.

Terry's has a great selection and are so welcoming. The sisters that own the shop have been selling dresses forever, they know what looks best and gave great advice on veils, jewlery. I ordered my bridal gown and all of the bridesmaids dresses from Terry's and everything came in perfectly and timely. My alterations were also done at Terry's and the seamstress did an amaziing job. She really understood how I wanted the dress to fit and made sure I was satisfied. The alterations were also very reasonably priced, more so than other shops, I thought. We loved every visit to Terry's - to decide on the dress, to look at bridesmaid dresses w/ all of the girls, and for fittings. We had fun every step of the way!!

Terry's selection of dresses were beautiful and modern. She allowed me to try on many different dresses, but was aware of my price-point. Terry has been in this family-owned business for a long time, and she knew what she was doing. She was helpful and attentive, but not too much. Some bridal shops are all over you, and others couldn't care less. She had the perfect balance. My alterations were done there, as well, and they were done well. I felt it took a bit too long (5 months) for my dress to come in, but I guess that's normal. I also purhcased my headpiece and dress brooch there. She had a nice selection to choose from.
