This venue is amazing. It was absolutely a beautiful event. The venue looks different during the day and the night so think about the timing of your event. Also remember there is no AC in the cloisters so make sure the day is not too warm. Our venue was in Jan. in the evening and the weather was great (a little humid post dancing)

While the Monastery is pricey, it is worth every single penny when you think about the experience that you're giving your guests and that the money goes to help the Monastery support the community (not into some corporate bank account). Our wedding was incredible and our guests could not stop raving about the space. Carolina was extremely helpful and recommended our caterer, A Fancy Fiesta, which handed every single detail. Since Carolina has such a great working relationship with them, every detail went perfectly. We also had the Monastery's priest officiate our wedding. Father Greg was great and really took the time to get to know the details of my fiancee and I and delivered an incredible service for our guests. I'm not religious and when he suggested that we do readings because the service was too short, I hesitated until he recommended Carrie's poem to Big from Sex and the City! I could not have asked for a better experience and I was really able to let go and enjoy the day. Highly recommend, especially if you're doing a destination wedding like we did. Your guests will be happy to not be in a hotel and instead in a beautiful, one of a kind, place.

Let me start by saying that this venue is the most beautiful thing I have seen and it is something truly unique for an event. We looked around the country for a historic, beautiful venue and booked our destination wedding in Florida ONLY because of the Spanish Monastery. The space has so much to offer; the cloisters, banyan tree, gardens, loggia….it is all breathtaking! Our guests are still commenting that it was the most amazing venue that they have ever seen for a wedding!
Here are a few things to consider though when booking the Spanish Monastery:
• It’s not cheap and there are upcharges for a few things that seemed odd to me given how much you end up paying for an event: having the musician play a piano instead of an organ and using the newly remodeled bridal suite
• They have cats on-site (maybe about 30?). I was concerned about this and having them running around during the reception but it honestly was not an issue at all. They basically just lie around, mostly in the gardens and up by the entrance.
• Be sure to ask about other events earlier in the day so you know exactly when the venue is exclusively ‘yours’ because it appears they book events back to back and sometimes overlapping. We were told an event was ending at 3pm and we couldn’t come until after so we didn’t cross-over with the other event. This caused us a shorter window to set up and then, the earlier event didn’t end up ending until 4pm. Which meant that we had a bunch of people from the other event walking around and taking photos while we were trying to take our wedding photos. Again, given the amount you are paying, it would have been nice to have arrived earlier and then not had bumped up against another event.
• Carolina was wonderful and warm and flexible. There are other reviews talking about the lack of response and at times, it was difficult to get through, but nothing that negatively affected the overall interaction.

The ancient spanish monastery is a beautiful venue, although the venue coordinators are difficult to work with. While planning our wedding, the coordinator we were working with was no longer with the monastery and we were not notified. It seems that the venue coordinators are willing to bend the rules for certain couples/caterers/vendors, but not others. We were told that we would be able to have extra set up time, and then the monastery had double booked another party during our extra set up time. We had also confirmed our rehearsal dinner and then when our wedding planner tried to re-confirm, the venue coordinator stated she had no knowledge of our rehearsal dinner taking place that day. There is a lack of communication between the venue coordinators who work at the monastery. It is difficult to get a response via email/phone depending on the day of the week. Rehearsal dinners are not kept on Friday (evening's) which can also be difficult if you are out of town. The monastery is also open-air, so planning a wedding here requires some sort of ventilation (a/c, fans) - probably much less ventilation if you get married in the winter months. Security is not offered and it is recommended by the venue coordinators that you hire an off-duty cop to watch the parking lot during the wedding.

This was our dream venue and we feel so fortunate to have been married here! Father Greg was SO wonderful and planned a beautiful ceremony with us. Tania and Carolina were very sweet and helpful any time we needed anything. Willie the groundskeeper is an absolute sweetheart as well. This venue is just so stunning. Our wedding was a dream come true, largely due to the venue alone.

This venue is breathtaking and the number 1 reason we picked it as our wedding reception venue. I wanted a unique venue and this venue has it all. outdoor and indoor beauty, ancient and romantic character is just perfect for wedding pictures. Carolina was great to work with. She tries her best to make everything happen the way we wanted and worked well with my wedding planner.
The only thing I would say is that they got very strict on allowing you to do certain things and would have to say they can be picky about who they let do certain things. I was told we were not allowed to put tables in the prayer well but I clearly saw other people recent wedding pictures where it was allowed. I was very disappointed but my wedding planner made it work anyway.
Other than that, the beauty of the venue was a great hit with our guests, everyone was in awe. mission accomplished.

Thank you so much, the venue was absolutely beautiful.
They remodeling was finished just weeks before my wedding, so everything was perfect. The bathrooms were brand new and the landscaping was perfect.

Unfortunately, on my wedding it rained. But thankfully the Spanish Monastery and my caterer managed to prepare and organize everything perfectly.

Thank you - Mr. and Mrs. Cordova

I booked this site for my wedding in February 2016, the whole wedding was magical and we had an amazing experience. Tania and Carolina were wonderful and helped set my mind at ease leading up to the wedding (especially because I had many issues with my caterer). The whole venue was breathtaking! My guests couldn't stop talking about how beautiful everything looked and how majestic the venue was, we did cocktail hour in the loggia and the guests enjoyed the ambiance. I hired Carolina as my day of wedding coordinator and was worth every penny, she went above and beyond and assured that my event was a success and that everything went off perfectly! Highly recommend!

Let me start off by saying that this venue is beautiful, and given the choice, I would choose to get married here again! It is SO magical, impressive, interesting, elegant...everything you want in a venue. I cannot wait to get our photos from our photographer!
The bad: Tania is the most unresponsive and unprofessional person I've ever dealt with. My wedding planner sent countless emails asking her the most basic questions and most went unanswered. When she emailed back, her answers were so vague and many times she didn't answer all of the questions that were asked. First she told us the date we wanted was available and then when we went to finalize and sign the contract, it turns out she gave the date away to someone else. My fiancé and I drove from Chicago to meet with our vendors and finalize all plans, and she was so rude when we met her. She didn't offer to show us the locations or give us any helpful information. Getting information from her is like pulling teeth. Less than a week before the wedding, my planner called again to confirm details, and somehow she had us down for a different ceremony location than what we had discussed. She tried telling my planner that the related correspondence never happened, yet we definitely have emails showing otherwise.
The other woman at the monastery that deals with weddings seemed to be MUCH friendlier! If you have the option, I'd recommend having her help rather than Tania.
One of my vendors even aknowledged that Tania's communication skills leave much to be desired.
If you like the looks of the monastery, I would say BOOK IT! It's beautiful! Just be aware of what you're getting yourself into as far as lack of communication skills.
