Travis and I had an amazing wedding at The Blue Dress Barn last weekend, June 24th 2016!! Amy was able to assist us along the way, editing our floor plan twice, responding promptly and we were able to visit the barn twice before the wedding! Tasha, the barn manager, was wonderful when we visited and was so helpful with editing floor plans, giving tips, writing chalk boards for us and being sure all of our candles were lit. Tasha was so genuine and nice to the whole family, she kept complementing us on our nice family and friends, it was so sweet. We could not have picked a better Barn Venue! Our day was magical and we just wish we could do it all over again!

The Blue Dress barn is a breathtakingly beautiful environment for an outdoor wedding & cocktail hour, as well as, a rustic space for reception. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience at BDB, however there were a few hiccups that would of helped make the day a little smoother. First of all, book in advance! I booked the venue nearly 2 years in advance because summer Saturdays fill up quickly! No rehearsal on the property, unless you want to pay extra! We ended up having our ceremony rehearsal at a nearby park, but I was still a little nervous about how it would actually play out on the big day. Luckily, we got everyone there early enough that we were able to run through it on wedding day. You never know what you're going to get with summer weather in Michigan and it was exceptionally hot on my wedding day. I was okay with it, but many of our older guests left right after dinner because they couldn't take the heat in the barn. They do provide large fans, which was helpful. Also, the sun was beating down on the head table during dinner and one of my bridesmaids nearly passed out! I would recommend that they get some sort of sheer curtain to help protect guests from the sun on those extra hot days with the barn windows wide open. Overall, I loved my wedding and my guests went on & on about the unique and lovely venue.

The venue speaks for itself, it's absolutely breath taking. It's isolated, romantic and sweet, that is exactly what drew us there. It is definitely on the pricey side, but people will pay it because of the beauty of the venue. They will charge you for everything, including dress rehearsal which was $150 I believe, and you have to buy a liquor liability license for the day which was around $75 I think? You also have to pay extra to have your ceremony there. Cash bars are not allowed, and you have to buy all the alcohol from their own vendor and use their bartenders, but it worked out really well and we had lots of complements on our bar tender. You will also get reimbursed for any alcohol you didn't use. You can, however, choose your own caterer. As far as flexibility goes, because they are so busy with weddings Thursday-Sunday, you can really only meet with them early in the week and before 5pm I believe. My wedding coordinator worked a 9-5 job at the time and it was very difficult to find a time for us to both be there to tour the venue and finalize everything, BDB wasn't the most accommodating to her schedule, but they are also very busy themselves, so only a minor complaint. The day of the wedding, they didn't communicate with me whatsoever which I thought was strange, I'm sure they were there, maybe they took it all to my coordinator? I'm not sure. Another minor complaint. Overall, you can't beat the beauty of the venue. I was absolutely recommend it!

First, June 5, 2015, was perfect and I owe much of that to the Barn's amazing staff. Tasha is the best, a manager, and kept everything running smoothly. She went out of her way to set up one of our non-traditional desserts, a Little Debbie Zebra cake and Swiss cake roll platter cake, and it was beautiful. I also felt I could be myself with Tasha and she got me. I could crack an inappropriate joke or roll my eyes and she laughed along. How refreshing to work with someone who gets me on the most important day of my life. She loved all of my details and made me feel so confident in my choices. I remember feeling sad when she was leaving, I felt like she was one of my guests (I wanted her to be!). I'm sure Amy knows this, but I'll say it again; Tasha is the BEST. Avery was great as well, very charming and on point. I'd also like to mention that Sue Luther (Rustic Events) worked very closely with me and went WAY out of her way to make sure my day was the best. Sue is a required vendor and not the Barn's directly, however this service proves that they have chosen only the best to work at their barns and I appreciate that. Every single person, each traveling 3 hours minimum (on a Friday) to our wedding, said it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever seen. I know everyone thinks that about their wedding, but I invite them to view our photos.

Mr. & Mrs. Briske were helpful right from the start answering all of my emails and questions, which eased my nerves about planning a wedding across the state. The venue was absolutely beautiful and perfect....everyone complimented on the location. It was so nice to have a day of coordinator provided by barn management, who helped our officiant make ribbons for our hand fasting ceremony because they didn't make it across the state. The day was simply perfect and the weather couldn't have been better. It was difficult to try and set up a meeting time to see the barns in person due to our busy work schedule and the limited availability by the barn, but it all worked out! Thanks again for everything!!

This is an amazing venue for a "Country" wedding. My son's wedding was perfect! God blessed us with a beautiful sunny day and the outside ceremony was one to never forget. The inside of the venue is so beautiful, especially once it starts to get dark, the inside gets a magical glow. Tasha was amazing, so kind and helpful through the whole event. Guests are still complimenting on this beautiful venue. Yes, there is no A/C but large fans placed around inside the venue helped, once the sun went down things cooled off. Loved this placed, wish we could do it all over so we could enjoy the day one more time.

I am so in love with our venue and this barn!! It was everything we could have dreamt for our weddng and all our guests were amazed at how beautiful the barn was!! Amy and Tasha were very helpful and wonderful to work with, we have no regrets...other then it being very hot the day of our wedding and the barn not being air conditioned... but it was worth it and we would do it all over again!

I had my wedding at the Blue Dress Barn last Friday, and it was phenominal!

The venue is absolutely magical. Twinkle lights, chinese lanterns and other glass lights hang throughout the barn, and when it gets dark, the whole space just glows. I recommend adding uplighting, which I was able to do through my DJ, for an extra touch of color throughout the place.

The tables and chairs they provide, dessert table and bar space are great. The chairs are white and wooden and really don't need any extra dressing up, and the tables look great when covered by table clothes. I was excited to find a rustic venue that provided tables and chairs since there are a lot that do not.

Amy and Kirby were overall friendly and easy to work with. There are a lot of up-charges to use all the extras though - $200 to "rent" the space for the rehearsal dinner, $250 to use the heaters, extra to use cocktail tables and chalk boards. Not a huge deal, but all those things can really add up.

We had our wedding the first weekend of October, and it was in the low-50s with rain drizzle. We had a short 15 minute ceremony on the site, but once in the barn, every one was warm and comfortable. The heaters really work. I've heard that mid-summer weddings can get really hot in the barn since there is no AC, so a fall wedding here was perfect for us.

I was extremely pleased we chose the Blue Dress Barn for our wedding. It was a night no one will forget!

We recently had our wedding at Blue Dress Barn. My wife really liked the barn and the decorations for their rustic feel. Although the decorations are nice, they will nickel and dime you to death. For example, if you want to use an extra cocktail table or an easel that is already in the barn, no hauling necessary, it's $10 each for the tables and another $20 for the easel. If you want to use the paper lanterns they are included in your price, but if you don't want them, they will take them down, but they don't deduct that from your cost. My advice, leave them up to get the most bang for your buck, I mean you end paying thousands for those 14-15 lanterns anyway. When we had our wedding, they promised us that we would have a person from their staff taking care of the trash beginning at 6 pm. However, when we got there, trash from the previous night was still there. Since it had been raining all day, we ended up walking up the muddy hill to their residence to ask for trash bags. That's when one of the owner's decided to come down and help. Our bartender ended up changing trash bags behind the bar all night. We were also promised that the napkins would be folded and ready on the tables, but to our surprise none of the napkins were folded. They were folded in simple squares, but that's not what we went over with the owner. In fact, she folded an example napkin for us and "noted" in our file that's what she would do; didn't happen and we just so happen to have the picture to prove our work. During set up and delivery the owner's are no where to be found. My aunt and cousin who were setting up, had to call her on her cell phone in order to get the other vendor's questions answered. At the end of the night we had everything packed up and ready to go and we asked the staffer if it was ok to run home and grab a truck to haul some of the things back (5 minutes away), she said no problem. We did end up leaving about 1 hour late, but everything was packed and ready to go we just didn't have enough vehicles. And what do you do here when their staff is telling you it's okay? The next day we had a $215 charge to our credit card for being late....which again the staffer stated was fine and she stated this to 4 different people in my family. However, we were not notified this charge was taking place and we received the receipt and invoice for this charge 3 days later. In my opinion this is very sneaky and not the correct way to go about billing. We tried contacting the Blue Dress Barn 4 times before they answered, which was a week and a half later. The owners may seem laid back, but they have very poor social skills. He was rude... likes to yell a lot and ends up hanging up on you. On top of this when we owed our balance we asked them if he preferred a check or a card for payment. We only live 5 minutes from the barn and didn't mind dropping a check off to him in order to avoid the $15 charge for every time he swipes your card. His response to every thing was, "It's in the contract." There is a right way and a wrong way to do business and these people do it the wrong way. They are awful business people and although I had a wonderful wedding there, their actions have overshadowed all of that. Although the wife (Amy) seemed very nice and easy to work with, the husband (Kirby) is a complete jerk. We had heard this from other people but had not experienced it so we thought it was fine... we should have listened to our friends. He will monitor every step you take in an effort to make a dime. Before the final charges, we had paid $2700 for the venue, so the extra $215 is just a drop in the bucket compared to what he already had from us. They are hard to contact and will only return calls or emails when they are booking new customers. It took me several attempts to reach them on every occasion. On top of that, they have both sent me nasty emails and letters in the mail when I complained about the $215 charge. I suggest you visit the Better Business Bureau at www.bbb.org before you give these people your business. My suggestion, go somewhere else if you want to avoid hidden charges and headaches!

Amazing Venue! We loved the feeling of being in a unique barn for our reception. The owners are down to earth and very helpful with planning the reception. One bonus was the price of the venue includes tables and chairs, set up and take down, we felt that it was very cheap for what we got. The location is a bit far (10 miles) from hotels and downtown St. Joe, but is worth the drive for the intimate and unique location. The only down fall of this venue is that it does not have air conditioning.

The Blue Dress Barn is absolutely, breathtakingly gorgeous! I knew before I even visited the barn in person that this is where I wanted to be married. My fiance and I are so excited to be saying our vows and celebrating with our friends and family here. So far, everyone has been extremely helpful and responsive to emails and when I was onsite, questions were answered very honestly and directly.
