I received my dress late and when I went for my first appointment one of the consultants yelled at me for not wanting to fill out their form.

I was really unhappy with the experience. I would save yourself an annoyance and go somewhere else.

This place has so many rules that it feels like they think you're doing them a favour by shopping there. No kids, pay $50 for the right to take pictures, no perusing the collection without an appointment, etc. They sell flower girl dresses but you're not allowed to bring kids? The wedding and bridesmaids dresses are all overpriced and not special. I found much nicer dresses for lower prices at pretty much every other store in Calgary. This place is an uptight, entitled disappointment.

This company are thee worst company I've ever come upon. I'll tell you my story……

I was so excited for my extra special happy day, my wedding dress had arrived and I was on my way to try it on for the second time as I'd ordered it 3 months prior and had an appointment for my slight alterations to be done to have my dress fit just right.
As I entered the Bridal Center, Calgary, I was greeted and asked to have a seat. The girl then phones to the back to say, 'your 1pm appointment is here', no name, just another appointment! I'm then greeted by whom I worked out to be the seamstress who says, 'come back'. 'Okay', I reply, not a hello my name is, or congratulations or even a welcome back. I follow her as my anticipated wait was over to see my beautiful dress. 'in there', she says. 'Great', how nice of her to point me in the right direction. I then see threw the curtain, my dress, hanging with creases throughout. I'm still excited to slip it on. I manage with no help to get all the zips and buttons on and step outside the curtain. 'Okay, stand here', the seamstress barks. No, 'oh you look fabulous, lovely dress or muster of a compliment!!
The Seamstress then starts pulling, pining, grabbing and tucking. Bust, sides, back, hem, the dress is literally inches and 2 inches of excess from my body. It's clear to me that the 8 which I'd originally tried on was a much better fit than the 10 that THEY recommended I get as THEY said I was measuring in between sizes as THEY are the experts I'm going to go with THEIR advise.
Finally after all the pulling, pinning, tucking and discomfort. The seamstress tally's up my magical days cost for alterations……..$600, my dress was $1000!!!
You can clearly see where my frustration, anger disappointment, sadness and finally tears stem from. How can you justify that this is a fare price to charge!??
I'm taking the dress I said yes to and the horrible day I said no to elsewhere!!! DO NOT SHOP HERE!!!!!

I was the maid of honour for a wedding years ago, and that bride found her dress at the Bridal Centre, as well as the bridesmaids' dresses. Though I'd read not so great reviews, I decided to try it out for myself. I paid the little extra (nothing wedding related is cheap!) for a "princess" fitting, which included more time with the personal consultant, a private area to try on, and seating for several family members/friends, among other perks. My consultant was great, and very responsive to my likes/dislikes about the gowns I was trying on. When I found "The Dress" it was very much UNDER my max budget, which left me room to play with some accessories, which she also helped me with.
To those who complained or are worried about being treated like a cattle farm - this is a business. They require appointments to keep things on schedule and to keep up with demand. Not needing an appointment would be nice, but I truly don't believe it was that big of a deal. In my experience, the business seemed well-run, the consultant was great and the prices fair. It wasn't the most personal vendor I dealt with for my wedding, but I didn't require it to be.

I don't really have a ton to commend the Bridal Centre on - they were okay. Don't get me wrong, I love my dress, and I looked great in it (so I've been told). However, I'm not reviewing the dress, I'm reviewing the vendor. The staff were okay during the purchasing stage, and I got my dress in a timely manner. However, when I received my dress, it was way too big. I had ordered it based off of their recommendation that as I was in-between sizes, I should pick the larger size as most brides put on a bit of weight, and it's easier to alter a dress to make it smaller rather than bigger. It was massive, which then forced me to do more alterations than if I had chosen the smaller size. I'm hoping this wasn't done on purpose to increase the alteration bill, but I can't be sure.

My second complaint comes when I picked up the dress after the final alteration - they had wrinkled the whole bottom of the dress, and when I asked them if they were going to steam it, they told me that's not something they do. If I wanted them to steam it, I would have to pay them $100. For steaming a dress they had wrinkled. I figure they think that most people don't have a choice when picking up their dress, so they can charge them a ridiculous price, but I wasn't impressed. We ended up pressing it ourselves and saved the money. If I could do it again, I wouldn't have the Bridal Centre alter my dress, as they won't even fix the mistakes they make themselves.

I absolutely LOVE my gown and thankfully I found one on sale for a great price.

Good things:
Can find beautiful dresses sometimes on sale.
The seamstress did a wonderful job and was super nice.
The girl at the front desk was pretty helpful and nice.

Bad Things:
Limited seleciton of lower priced dresses.
The service wasn't that good: the lady who helped me try on treated me like I was poor and not worth it.
You can't take pictures of your dress until you buy it.
Seems really hoity toity.
Expensive selection, but beautiful gowns.

Overall my experience wasn't terrible but the lady who helped me at a different store was much nicer and I wish I could have given her my commission instead of this lady.

All you grooms out there for future reference: If you are getting your tuxes here, before you leave the store with your tux, make sure that there is no lint on the pockets. Just had wedding on Sat. July 6th, did not notice the lint on the pockets of suit jacket (poor lighting in store), but when jackets was on, boy did that lint show up. And of course, when returned, IT WAS OUR FAULT, for not seeing it before we left with the tux. It should also be stores responsibility to check items before they are packaged and not try to pawn off as acceptable. They are not very nice, helpful or apologetic. BUYER beware. Go someplace else that cares about you as a groom.

I can't say enough great things about this store. Went with a large (opinionated group) and had a blast. Booked the 2 hour appointment and was with Karma. She was super amazing and made the shopping experience positive and informative. My girls all had a great time as well, and I think that is really important they feel comfortable as I will get everything from this store. Had terrible experiences at other little stores, this store made me feel comfortable every step of the purchase for my bridal gown.

Deb, the consultant we had when I found my dress was very good. She listened to what I was looking for and made some of her own suggestions (which I asked for). She ended up finding my dress and she was very helpful.

HOWEVER, I had my alterations done here as well and it seems that once they have your money, they don't care about you in the slightest. They charged over $500 for alterations and I had to go back 3 times for fittings because they couldn't get it right and I ended up having to go somewhere else (and pay again) to have it fixed. The seamstress I used after leaving the Bridal Centre told me that the workmanship of the seamstresses at the Bridal Centre was a joke and that they hadn't made much of an effort in taking it in.

The Bridal Centre does have a good selection of dresses and the consultants are helpful and professional but I highly recommend that if you find your dress here, you take it elsewhere for any fittings as the girl at the front desk and the alterations department don't care about you.

I don't even know where to begin with how hurt and frustrated I am with the Bridal Centre. I had no complaints with the service or staff up until I picked up my dress. I ordered a really amazing $2,400 gown. Not cheap, and I paid in full up front (big mistake, because they treat you like crap after they already have your money).

I came to pick up my dress excited, and happy. The sample size that I tried on was a 4 and it fit like a glove, and they measured me, and based on their measurements, they ordered me a 4. (no surprise, as the sample fit like a glove). When the dress came in, I literally BULGED out of it. Picture a fit 118 pound girl who's skin is literally overflowing overtop of the dress and has a back "bum". I'm certainly not fat by any means - but my dress made me look that way! Horrified that I had somehow gained 10 pounds since I ordered the dress, I begged them to re-measure me.

They did - my bust and hips were the same, but the sales agent claimed my waist had grown by 1.5" in a snotty voice. Women, as you know, this can be the case just based on something you ate that day or if it's "that time of the month". I argued that if the bust and the hips were measured correctly, then why was my skin popping out the top of the dress? And why did I feel like I had to puke after wearing it for 10 min? Their response was, "it will stretch out". WOW, or maybe I have to lose 10 pounds??! (which in that case, at 108 pounds I would literally look anorexic)

They called the manufacturer and confirmed that the right size had been ordered based on the measurements. It was painfully obvious that the dress I received was a size 2 not a 4. When I first tried on the sample, the consultant bragged that I was the first girl to try it on - they just got it in! So why did it fit perfectly un-stretched?

I had my mother in law come in so I could try the 2 dresses on in front of the manager. There was a painfully obvious mistake. but the consultant did not admit to fault. They told me I can take the sample dress home instead of the new dress. I was fine with wearing a sample dress, but NOT fine paying full price for it. They told me there would be NO discount. WHAT? For a sample dress I was forced to take because you ordered me the wrong size??!!! They offered to take the dress "out" at my cost. F**k that. Seriously! Everyone knows that taking a dress out ruins the shape forever. I would have MUCH rather they accidentally ordered me a dress too big!! At this point, my emotions get the better of me - because I'm obviously feeling self conscious about my body. Which is TOTALLY wrong, because I don't have body issues. I ended up crying and running out of the store because I couldn't believe I was being forced to pay full price for a sample dress just so I don't have to lose 10 pounds for a mistake that was not my own.

I was told the manager would call me. She did, and still would not honour my request for a discount. I was so insulted. I ended up taking the sample dress - and I am yet to pick it up. If there is one bead out of place, they are going to hear about it. I certainly won't be getting my alterations done there - I'm going to take my FULL PRICED sample dress which other women have worn, and run.

I won't be recommending to any of my friends who are getting married. The least they could have done is given me the GST off and put it in their books as a marketing expense. ARG.

I Just recently got married and used the Bridal Centre for everything. They were absolutely amazing. Everything seemed effortless, as my consultant Deb co-ordinated everything for the girls. Julia helped on the tuxedo side and did an amazing job with the guys. I wasn't even there for the tux fitting, as the groom did not want me to see, and he looked amazing and the guys matched the girls perfectly. The only reason I gave them a 4.5 on value and flexibility was because a) the alterations were a little bit more than I thought they would be, however they turned out perfect and b) my girls complained a little about the fitting times available, but I knew it was because they were super busy trying to accommodate everyone. I really think they do an amazing job and most of my girlfriends have had the same great experience.

I gave one star for everything because my consultant was very helpful and friendly - otherwise this place deserves no stars. My dress is 2 weeks late, and my wedding is already in 5 weeks. I call them every day but they keep telling me they would call me back when dress arrives. Finally, I went there myself to check what was going on and they finally agreed to call the shipping company to inquire about my dress! My wedding is 5 weeks away!!! and I still need alterations. Even if the dress is late, you cannot get your money back. And besides, I don't have time to buy another dress. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE:

My first visit was great. The found my dress and had a huge selection. The follow up was poor. After my first fitting I was told to buy four inch heels to get the dress to the right length. At my second fitting they actually thought to put on the hoop only to then tell me I would be able to get away with a kitten heel at most. I have not worn a dress like this before, and this is their job. They should have thought of the hoop the first time! FANTASTIC!!! It all started with a lovly greeting from the receptionist I believe her name was Lindsay. Also when ever I had any question the front staff was always very eager to help and would do their best to assist me. My consultant Brandy was great from the start of my first appointment to my many follow ups as I had family that wanted to see my choice and they would always made sure to fit us in as I followed there 3 person maxium with a visit. Seems like an odd rule but once you get there and see how busy it is you quickly realize why they make this a priority so that they can make sure you enjoy the experiance. All in All from the moment I first went in to the last of my alterations I would suggest the Bridal center for anyone who wants to have a very professional and welcoming experience with their wedding and dress decision.

If you do not want added stress to your wedding day PLEASE do not go to the Bridal Center. First off they ordered one of my bridesmaid dresses in satin while they were to be ordered in chiffon. Second, my wedding dress is 3 weeks late (that’s a lot when you have a tight deadline) and third, with my dress being 3 weeks late they told me I had plenty of time to get alterations done by them(this was on the Thursday) then when I called back (on Monday) they told me they are taking bookings after my wedding date!!!! Sorry, but in 4 days how is it even possible that they booked up 6 weeks? The receptionists are VERY rude and unprofessional, and when you ask to speak to manager they do everything they can to not let you speak to one. Please, if you want a good experience, do not go here. They don’t care about the people, they just care about the money.

The worst customer service!!! I spent $3000 at the store, and when I come to pick up my staff I received the worst customer service at the reception. It is supposed to be the happiest times, but the reception person Megan made it the worst for me. She kicked me out because I have a toy dog in my arms while standing by the entrance doors. I did not try to go upstairs and try out dresses. I already bought mine from there and wish I never did and went to a different store! They were very rood and unfriendly to me! Now I am very upset and don't want to go back there ever again. They do not smile there and don't care about customers! They do not talk nice to you (never heard even one nice word from them) They almost yell at you and they do not care about you. If you are looking to enjoy the process of buying your wedding dress go to a different place, because there they will only make you upset!!!! Horrible and very unhappy customer service! Wish I never bought anything from them ;(

I walked into the Bridal Centre without an appointment looking for a destination wedding dress. The staff was very accomodating, I was shown multiple options, my consultant was very helpful, I walked out with a dress on order that day. Once the dress came in they were very good at booking follow-up appointments, and the alterations staff were excellent. Good value for my money.

From start to finish the Bridal Centre gave me an amazing wedding expereince. The staff was knowledgable and professional. They had an incredible selection of bridal and bridesmaid dresses for all budgets. They ensured that every detail of my wedding was covered and went above and beyond my expectations. I had so many compliments on my dress, veil, and headpiece as well as all the bridesmaid dresses. They were amazing and I can't thank them enough!

I ordered and bought my couture dress through this store because it was the only one in Canada that sold Michelle Roth designs. I would never go back, they put me in a bad mood. Their attitudes were below poor. Phone courtesy was below a zero. When I wanted to order extra fabric they made it a three week hassle. I had to continually make follow-up calls, and then be told the lady I was dealing with is on a family leave (?!?!? please explain why this is my problem, or why someone else couldn't be helpful). They never alerted me when my dress arrived; I live 6 hours away so needed to plan a trip to pick it up plus they have a strict policy on how long your dress can remain in the store. Even the day I picked up my dress they said there was no room for me to try it on there!!! Every sales associate turned their nose up, even though they received a massive commission for no work. After I paid my maid of honor had to go behind the counter to get the dress because the snob wouldn't hand it to us! Unbelievable

The Bridal Centre was a breath of fresh air for me. I had a challenge because I had to find a dress in store that fit because I only had 2 months to find a dress. I had gone to numerous bridal shops and was having a hard time finding a shop who could get my dress done in time. The employees were extremely helpful with my situation and were very patient. They helped me find the dress of my dreams and were able to get it altered in time for the wedding.
They also had a huge variety of bridesmaids dresses and accessories to choose from. I would recommend this place to everyone!

First, the quality of service was good, but that was before I had given them any money. After I had made the down payment for my dress and and signed the contracts they made me sign, they were HORRIBLE to me!!
FYI: After you have made a down payment for your dress at this store, and sign the papers that they make you sign, there is no getting out of it unless you pay them a certain percentage of what the dress cost. Basically, it will cost you; therefore, be sure that you want your dress from them.
As I was saying earlier, they were horrible to me. For example, I paid them to have my dress shipped to me, but when it came time for the dress to come in, it wasn't there. I had to wait two more months to receive my dress. That was only after much arguing on the phone with their consultants. They are scrappy, hormonal women!

Second, their responsiveness was as good as their quality of service, horrible. I had to constantly leave them messages so that they would call me back.

Third, they were not professional. They argued with me about almost everything. For example, I wanted these straps added to my dress, but the seamstress refused to put them on to my dress because SHE didn't like the way it looked on the dress! That was her own opinion that she should have kept to herself. The straps look really good on the dress.

Fourth, the value for cost is horrible as well. I am sure that I could have gotten the same or similar dress for a third of the price I paid at their store. The only reason I ended up buying my dress from them is because I signed those stupid papers. They would have taken the money off of my Visa if I told them I didn't want my dress from their store. Oh yeah, like any other store, you have to give them your Visa #.

Fifth, their flexibility was worst than other stores to which I have been. Almost any store is better than this one. I do not recommend this store to anyone.

They are rude, overpriced, and unprofessional.

I started looking for a dress in January for my August wedding and was basically told I needed to rush as I was late in ordering. My dress came in in late April. My consultant was very nice and patient as I tried on dresses but once I chose a dress she took my measurements over my jeans and insisted that I needed to order a size two sizes bigger than the sample which was too large (stretched according to her) and a good two sizes larger than anything I own. When I said I wanted to order the smaller size she would not let me. I specifically asked how they would make the bodice fit properly as I realize I am smaller in that area. I was assured that they had amazing alterationists who do this all the time.
Needless to say when the dress arrived it was miles too big. The alterationist is only willing to take it in on the side seems which pulls the bodice off center and the boning in the bodice leaves the dress sticking out two inches from my chest, a great view for all who come close to me. Her answer is to sew cheaply made pillows into the top to set my girls on to try to fill the gap, and there is nothing else they can do. Because the alterations are needed the cost of my dress has now practically gone up by half of the original price. To top it off they charge to bustle the dress and to have the dress pressed. I have bought clothes in cheaper stores where they have had items steamed before I left the store, yet when already spending over $2000 they feel they can let the wrinkled item leave the store unless you pay to have it ready to wear!
The receptionists at this store are also brutal. They never smile, and act like it is a big imposition if you ask them anything. We should have walked out the first time we went in.
My fiance and groomsmen went to order tuxes for the wedding and finally walked out due to the odd and rude service they got. They wanted navy blue vests to go with their tuxes and were told first that they only had one in each size. I presume you need to pick your friends accordingly, one small, one medium etc. Then when they were leaving they were told they had another navy vest style but it was on a higher shelf and the sales girl hadn't felt like getting it down.
With less than two weeks until my wedding I am totally stressed out by my dress and had my dress budget totally blown by the need for extensive alterations. I would recommend you go anywhere else to purchase your dress - no where could be worse.

I am sorry to say that the experience here left me feeling discouraged and rather sad.
I spend a lot of money on my dress and NOT ONCE was I made to feel like a valued or special customer. People have many choices in today's world, and I chose to spend my money at this store, not knowing that they really don't care 'who' you are or to do anything to make you feel valued.

The girl with the long blond hair with the scowl on her face at the front makes it her job to make you feel like you are an inconvenience and a bother, she is rude and is in the wrong industry. I think if the owners knew how customers were greeted - basically with nothing more than a blank stare - and how un-special they feel after leaving they would be shocked. For starters you should let that girl go, she made it feel like your store was doing me a favour - I am the one spending thousands of dollars!! There is one girl with a high pitched voice who i spoke with on the phone - she was very sweet & pleasant and helpful, but other than that the service here is not classy or what you would hope for when spending a lot of money and finding the dress of your dreams.

I would recommend going elsewhere where the service is more personalized and they actually care about you. Here they are just looking to get your money and get rid of you. Unfortunately I never felt special or like their goal was to make me happy....I never met a manager during my time there or thanked for my large purchase which i could have taken elsewhere, kind of sad really and i regret buying my dress from this store.

The Bridal Centre in Calgary was my first (ever) wedding dress experience and they definitely lived up to their reputation! Karla was my first consultant and although it took a while to figure out exactly what I was looking for, Karla was very patient and eventually we found three amazing dresses to choose from! When they say the dress chooses you, they do not lie! The nice open layout of the Bridal Centre actually really helped and it created an amazing atmosphere for this event. I didn't purchase the dress right away, but instead opted to visit a couple more stores (shop around). My second time back into the Bridal Centre, Karma was also amazing in helping us out. The quality of dresses available has got to be the top selection in Calgary. All in all, my experience was better than I could have imagined!

Big mistake using bridal centre. Not only did the reception girls make rude comments about customers (myself included- my MOH happened to be there when I was running late), but they trick you into spending WAY more money than needed. I was originally told my alterations would be around the 300 dollar range. Dress came in and they quoted me over $600 - at this time too short of notice to use another seamstress. The lady who sewed my dress HACKED IT. Ruined my almost 3,000 dollar wedding dress the week of the wedding. She than proceeded to tell me "my body was uneven" and "the dress was way to small" (the dress was being taken in to fit me).

Each time I left the bridal center post-fitting I was in tears and the worst was the day before my wedding when I realized there was nothing I could do. Save yourself. Avoid the night mare of the bridal centre! I have passed the news on to my now 5 engaged friends and told them to pass it on too!!!

my mom and i went to pick out brides maid dresses for my sisters wedding. we decided to try the bridal center 1st and well everything went great in finding a dress but then they passed us off to the receptionist who took my measurements and looked at her book and said so you would be what a size 18? but i clearly wasn't i was a size 11 and she had the book right in front of her. so she pretty much called me fat.anyways i had no intentions of ever going back there. until my wedding in 2008 my mom insted we try them so i phoned to make an appointment and to give fair warning i would not be putting up with any sort of rudness from them again. so we went and i found my dream dress! aid in full about 2500.we left happy so i decided to get the tuxs and the bridesmaids dresses. it was time for alterations i asked before hand if it had been included in the original payment they said yes. then the week before the wedding i go to pick up my dress and it had little blue dots all over it so i had some "words" with them in front of the other guests. and told them it better be clean by tonight.then we had a bridesmaid drop out of the wedding and she had only put the deposit down so far and they wouldn't take it back never worn or anything and tried to get me to pay for it. and i refused and left the bridesmaid dress there. so because of that they decided to charge one of my other bridesmaid's for it with out telling her she was the last one to pick up her dress but had paid in full months ago. then the grooms men ties and vests were not the shade of red i had chosen. on top of that durring the reception/dance one of the bridesmaids (who chose a haulter style top for her dress) came undone while she was dancing. another had the ruching come out of her dress while walking down some steps and almost tripped. but was fixed with some safty pins but at the dance she had to give up one of her pins to fix the girl's broken top.

Where should I begin... I booked an appointment at the Bridal Centre. That was my first mistake. My first visit was fine, the sales assosiate was very helpful, she pulled dresses that were exactly what I was looking for. I finally found my dress... I was so excited and happy. Of course after finding "the one" after searching and searching I quicly put a 50% deposit on it which was $1100! Everything was fine and dandy after this, my dress came in sooner then expected. I made an appointment to try it on and when I drove nearly 2hrs to the store I was not even acknowledged when I walked into the store as 20 minutes passed I started to get a little concerned, as the ignorant receoptionist was dealing with ONE other customer. She didnt look at us, smile, say hi, nothing. So I went and tried on my dress and it was just as beautiful as I remembered. I needed some alterations done, but was told to make a fitting appointment closer to the date. So I called back in July and the rude receptionist told me that I wasnt allowed to make an appointment until a month before the wedding or less. Why? I asked. And she replied with "To get the most accurate fit" well jeez I guess shes right, maybe I will gain like 500lbs in 2 months....ughhh. I called back today, August 17th and attempted to make an appointmet within the next few weeks. And what do you know, the receptionist told me she wasnt booking anything for me until Septber 18th. Thats 2 weeks before my wedding. I had asked to possibly make an appointment for the week prior to that and she said "There are a lot of other brides that have their weddings before yours, and need their fittings done before you." Luckily my mom was in Calgary and able to pick my dress up today, as I am definietly NOT getting any alterations done there. I would never reccomend this place to anyone. If anything just order the dress and pick it up. But even thats risky...
