The garden room was simply amazing! they made me feel like i was apart of their family and helped me make so many decisions and helped me understand certain aspects of the wedding. I worked with Laura (who is no longer there), Jennifer, and Gina. And all three were simply amazing!!!! I had looked at both locations (La Habra and Garden Grove) and decided with my guest count (80) that La Habra would be the best! And it was, from beginning to end everyone was catering to our needs and wants. I did have two guest be escorted off the property and our security guard came up and explained what happened, and then we just went back out on the dance floor.
The food was amazing! ad what was supposed to be hot, was hot. and what was supposed to be cold was cold. and they handled the buffet line perfectly!
The only thing that made me just a little upset, was that there was a mix up with my unity candle and another brides. so i ended up lighting her, and she lite mine. i didn't notice until my mom had pointed it out to me after the ceremony so i guess it wasn't that big of a deal, but now when i look at my unity candle, i know that i didn't light it.

I was very happy with the Garden Room in Garden Grove. They make planning a wedding reception easy. I loved how the location is exclusive to my guests unlike any venue in a hotel or country club. They did my cake and flowers as well. My flowers were beautiful and looked amazing with my dress and my bridesmaids. Gina had the difficult job of finding just the right flowers to go with my colors of gunmetal, celadon and silver. She exceeded my expectations with the perfect arrangements for the tables as well. Everyone raved about the food. Kim and Diane were excellent hosts and set me up for success by keeping us on time but not rushing us. I didn't have to worry about a thing, I got to truly just enjoy the day with my husband, family and friends. We chose a DJ off their preferred list, Dean Hall, who was amazing. And the beautiful spiral staircase alone is worth having your venue here. I can't wait to see our pictures. It was a beautiful day that I will always cherish because of the wonderful service and beautiful location of The Garden Room.

Everything went very smoothly. The Garden Room staff did a great job at making sure everything went the way it was supposed to and assured that I never had to worry about anything. They took care of every little detail. The only reason I gave 4 stars for flexibility is because they are very strict on their rules and times, but in a sense thats a good thing.

This venue is great if you are on a budget and don't mind their millions of rules they impose. If you want to be able to have a say in everything for your venue including what centerpieces you have and so forth then I don't recommend this venue. While their menu is very affordable and their food is great and the venue is so nice. We got so many compliments on how nice it was inside. But they are sticklers on a lot of things. You have to either get a permit for some things or they just don't allow certain decorations. We saved half of what we would have if we had it at another venue. Also there is a minimum on certain days so if you are not planning a big wedding(which we weren't) you still have to pay for the extra 10 seats even if you don't fill those with guest. Although it still saves you some money compared to other venues. Cheapest plate is $19 for luncheon. Overall, though people are great and the wedding went smoothly. Would only recommend to brides on a budget and who don't care about all the minor details.

Words cannot express what an amazing experience we had The Garden Room in Garden Grove on the morning of June 26, 2010. We knew about The Garden Room from one of our friends getting married there in October of 2008. She raved how the staff was very hands-on and took care of everything as well as how great of a deal The Garden Room is. When we told people where we were getting married, I was surprised of how many people knew somebody who had been married there. Well, I guess I am not surprised – after all, The Garden Room is a perfect, all inclusive, wedding experience.

After checking out one other place, we made an appointment to meet with Kim at The Garden Room to get more information (although the website is phenomenal with all of the information at one’s fingertips and they don’t hide pricing in order to increase prices during peak wedding season). No less than an hour after meeting with Kim, walking the grounds, and crunching a few numbers, we decided that this was THE PLACE in which we wanted to get married and have our reception. We called Kim back right away!

Their exclusive list of preferred vendors is just that – exclusive. You cannot go wrong with using this great list! Wendy, Brian, Dean, and Chris are all so patient and easily accessible; willing to answer any questions or deal with any concerns you may have. They are all priced very reasonably and on top of it, some even offer discounts for getting married at The Garden Room. They were always happy and smiling like they love what they do and are happy to be there on your special day helping to make lasting memories.

We really loved the Garden Room, Kim and Diane were awesome to work with, they never gave us a hard time or made any questions we had (and we had alot) too difficult to answer or seemed too stupid. Our receptions was beautiful and our food and cake were to die for!! The only thing we didn't like was the amount of restrictions and rules, but things worked our beautifully and maybe thats why. Thanks Garden Room!!!

I got married in their Garden Grove location. Watch out for Lisa, (their owner). She is quite clear and unwilling to budge on ANY parts of the contract. Kim was my coordinator and did a great job. Communication was the only problem that I encountered, (find out who they will assign as your coordinator and make sure to communicate with them directly and get EVERYTHING in writing). I was really worried up until the day of the event, but in the end everything went well. Kim stayed late and checked with me before she left to make sure the event was running smoothly, which I really appreciated. At the end of the night when we were packing up their bouncer carried everything out to our truck and packed it in so the bride (me) could just relax.

Like I mentioned, there were a few communication glitches, but overall I was happy with my experience and am glad we were married there. The place is immaculately clean and my guests seemed to enjoy themselves. It fit within our budget needs without looking cheap or tacky. It was great to have the reception and ceremony all in one location.

One of the reasons I chose The Garden Room was because they had a lot of services located in one place, which was wonderful for a busy, non-crafty person like me, who didn't have a lot of time or help to plan my wedding (135 people attending). The ceremony and reception site were in one place, and they provided food, drinks, cake, and decorations at what I considered a really affordable price. I had a Friday night wedding, which took 10% off the per person price, and ended up paying about $18/person for an Italian buffet consisting of Lasagna, Italian Sausage, Meatballs, Jumbo shells stuffed with ricotta cheese, green beans, sauteed peppers, salad, bread & butter, fruit, and crudites and drinks of iced tea, coffee, and water. For another $3/person I got their "reception package" consisting of a champagne toast, cake, nuts and butter mints at each table, and a centerpiece of either carnations in a vase or crystal lanterns. The food and cake were absolutely delicious, far better than I expected them to be, and a lot of people agreed. The chapel and reception room were nicely decorated already, so I didn't have to spend any money there, and since I was being low-budget, I just also went with their centerpieces included with their "reception package." However, you can bring your own centerpieces in if you choose to. Since I had my ceremony there as well I got use of the bridal room, which was really pretty and nicely sized, allowing me a place to escape to for touch-ups or whatever else, and allowed for room for bridesmaids, mothers, etc., to come in as well. Plus, the staff was great. They had a girl on-site who served as our "coordinator" who made sure everything ran really smoothly, from the ceremony to pictures through reception, and was a big help for someone like me who didn't really know how to pace the whole event. She also had a helper who took everyone's gift and placed it on the gift table and then helped us load them all into our cars at the end of the evening. Not only that, their florist was also amazing, she decorated our cake with flowers that perfectly matched my bouquet and boutionniers (sp?) simply by following along with what my personal florist had written down. Now for the caveats: First of all, they are not very flexible about things, so if you are one of those girls who really wants things her own way, this is not the place for you. I was very willing to compromise simply because I'm a busy career girl who doesn't really care about a lot of "girly" stuff such as taffeta chair covers or balloon gazebos. But here are some examples: If you want kids, this isn't the place for you. They tell you that right out, and say that if they have to reprimand any kids they will kick them and their families out no questions asked. In fact, I heard from a friend who attended a wedding there and took her toddler son that everytime she dropped his blanket a security guard was right there to pick it up because he was keeping an eye on her. I couldn't afford to invite kids, so that wasn't an issue for me. Second, if they find anybody bringing in their own food and drink into the premises or on the grounds (even in the parking lot) they'll shut the party down. I wasn't too worried about this, but I did find out later my cousin and her husband who drove two hours to get to my wedding went across the street to buy Cold Stone Ice Cream while they waited for the wedding to start and tried to eat it in their car in the parking lot and were shooed out by the security and had to eat their ice cream across the street (they didn't want them to muck up the parking lot with spilled ice cream I guess). They also don't allow bubbles or colored flower petals to be tossed in front of the bride as she walks down the aisle as they could stain the decor. I didn't care about bubbles and since you could purchase white flower petals to be tossed down the aisle for an additional $10 I just did that. Also, they have strict times about when the entertainment needs to be set up (one hour before the ceremony time) and I almost got fined $50 because my DJ thought I told him to get set up by 7 pm instead of 6 pm and he almost didn't make it by the cut off time (luckily he did!). Also regarding time, everyone has to be out of the bridal room by 10:30 (I didn't know that so I spent some time scrambling to get out of there instead of visiting with my guests) and they make sure your party is done by midnight (which is okay by me as I'm in bed by 10 pm most nights anyway). Another caveat is that mostly everything is standardized, so if you want lots of personalization in your wedding, this isn't the place for you. The chapel is beautifully decorated, but if you want a kneeler or other decor, they're going to make it difficult for you. I didn't, so it wasn't a problem for me. There are also very few choices for cakes: either stacked or on separate tiers, with white whipped cream frosting decorated with ribbons or dots. The only personalization you can have is with the flowers they use to decorate it with, which are matched to your personal flowers, and with the cake (white or chocolate) and its fillings (several different kinds, which they give you on a plate to taste beforehand so you can make your choices). While you can choose a different cake for each tier, they are all decorated the same. So if you want a light blue fondant cake with seashells or someother such stuff, you will have to purchase it on your own and bring it in. Since I couldn't remember what half the wedding cakes I've eaten looked like, I just chose the dots theme, which actually looked like little Mickey Mouse heads, which went perfectly with my Mickey & Minnie cake topper. However, you can pick linen colors to match your wedding colors, and you can personalize your favors, centerpieces, reception table cards, guestbook and pen, and wedding photo, which they will display nicely for you. The last caveat, is that although overall the base price was a good value, they "nickel and dime" you, so to speak, by charging you for every little thing. Do you want separated tiers instead of a stacked cake? That's another $50. Would you like the punch fountain on? Well, that's $100 for the evening. You can say no, but guess what...they ain't moving the fountain, so it sits there empty for all to see (one frantic mother of the bride came in to the Garden Room office during my final appointment with $100 in cash and change scrounged from all the attendees to turn that punch fountain on!). As for the bar, you need to make at least $200 in sales or they're gonna charge you $300 at the end of the evening (I just hosted the first $300 at the bar for everyone, since sodas are not included in the buffet anyway, since I didn't want a surprise charge at the end of the evening). Oh, and if you want to use your own DJ and photographer, its $100 EACH. They say it's because they know their vendors know the rules and won't mess up their stuff (whatever). I called those vendors and was quoted minimum $2,000 each so I found my own vendors and still paid less with the extra $100 than what their vendors wanted to charge me. Oh, and don't forget those white flower petals ($10). When all was said and done, I paid $6,000 for my reception, which still wasn't bad. Overall, though, for a low-maintenance girl like me, the venue was really nice, and since I followed the rules, I didn't have any problems. I got lots of compliments from people on the great food, the pretty venue, and the convenience of having the ceremony and reception in one location. If I could have changed anything, I would have 1) had a microphone set up in the chapel (turns out not everyone could hear us) and 2) had the DJ make an announcement that everyone could get more food at the buffet (people didn't know they could go back!). Otherwise, a good time was had by all, and because the Garden Room is so organized and well-planned, I didn't have to worry about anything that night.

Read less

They were very nice and were reasonable except that they would not make a change on the menu once we confirmed it.

I actually had it at their Garden Grove location. Couldn't have asked for better service, wedding coordinator. Everything was timely and everyone was very pleasant.

Great place because it is an all-in-one place. Guests don't have to travel from the wedding to the reception. Lots of options and choices. Fairly reasonable prices. The only thing I would ask is a place to put your own review on their website.

The reason we chose the garden room, was easiness of everything. One location, no moving, no loss of people from one place to another. As a bride, i was pampered. And by pampered, i mean, on the wedding day, all i had to do was show up! I or no one else in my party had to worry about setting up tables, the caterer being there on time, cold food cold or hot food hot. I didn't even have to put my own food on my plate!(we had a cold buffet) I had a right hand man, that wasn't my husband. My own personal waiter, if you will. Any thing i asked for he got for me! The only thing i rated low was flexability. We called them the wedding nazis. Only because they have a certain way of doing things. And at first i didnt understand it, but, then it all made sense. They asked you to use their vendors, because they understood how the venue worked.
