We used the Magnolia Ballroom for our reception venue only (not a selection choice) and as part of our package had catering, lighting, and decor included. The ballroom is a gorgeous historic building in downtown Houston which is rare in a city that likes to tear down all the old buildings and put in new shiny ones. The venue seats 150 in the main ballroom, but can accommodate 180 at a maximum. We had about 130-135 people attend and it felt very intimate which was exactly what we were looking for! There is a patio that overlooks the bayou, but we had our reception beginning at 5:30pm and it was still very hot at this time. I'm not sure if anyone actually used the patio, but it is very pretty and extends the space available.

The catering company using the Magnolia Ballroom as a home base is Lemond Catering and Special Events. Merinda Martin is the manager and her husband Reggie is a French classically trained chef from Louisiana. Needless to say, we had Cajun food at the wedding and it was AMAZING. Merinda made sure everything went as planned and that my husband and I had everything we needed. I can't say enough good things about her, the service and the food. We had pecan crusted chicken with a creole vinaigrette, Burgundy wine braised beef tips, garlic mashed potatoes, salad and grilled vegetables. Instead of a groom's cake, we had bourbon bread pudding and it was a HUGE hit. I couldn't have asked for things to go better. Thanks Merinda and Reggie!

My fiancee & I fell in love with the Magnolia Ballroom when we attended a cake tasting there. We immediately booked our wedding reception @ this venue & we are SO glad we did! Merinda & her amazing team made the night magical! The food was excellent, our signature drink delish, the whole ambiance & setup of the room was romantic & fun. Merinda works tirelessly to make your event flow smoothly. I would highly recommend this venue. All of our friends keeps asking if we can renew our vows so we can have another fabulous party @ The Magnolia Ballroom, ha!

When I got engaged I knew I wanted something small, intimate, romantic, and unique. Like many couples nowadays, my Husband and I paid for the majority of our wedding so we were on a tight budget. The Coordinator, Merinda was very polite and she didn't seem like your typical Venue owner that just wanted your money, which I liked. She responded to emails promptly and was always willing to do whatever she could to make things happen for us. The venue itself is just amazing. It is a historic building so it has charm inside and out. We didn't have to bring hardly any decorations because it alone was simply beautiful. The venue basically came with everything except the cake, DJ, and photo/video. We were able to set up the day before and we had forgotten a few things but Merinda was willing to come back the day of the wedding and let my Mom bring some last minute details to set up. The food was fabulous and everyone told us how much they loved it. There were no complaints by our guests. Merinda made sure we had a plate of food and something to drink so we didn't have to worry about missing out on it. The night ended with us making our grand exit with bubbles. Merinda made sure to hand out bubbles to all of our guests for us. It was just so awesome!! The only thing that we did have a slight problem with was the parking. There was free parking available to our guests and there were suppose to be 3 spaces saved for the wedding party yet no one ever managed to find those spots. People from our wedding party had to circle the block a few times to find parking which made us wait a few minutes until everyone made it inside. It was just a slight delay but just a minor flaw in the overall experience of the night. Another thing to mention is that because it is a historic building there is not an elevator and there are quite a few stairs up to the main floor. If you want a venue that everyone will be in awe of this is the place for you.Im so happy it was our venue for our special day

From the time we walked into the ballroom for the first time we fell in love with the charachter of the place. It was just the right size for our 130 guests. The room had so much beauty that adding lighting or decoration was not necessary.

The manager, Merinda, went out of her way multiple times to make sure our wedding day turned out perfect. From her flexibility when we couldn't pick our final wedding date, to maintaining her professionalism through making last minute changes to the plan.

Her recommendations on the flower supplier was great. She was also very helpful in working with our caterer who was providing ethnic food.
She stayed on site through the wedding, making sure everything went on smoothly from the parking, to the catering to making sure that I was drinking enough water.

Thank you Merinda for all your help keeping this historic place available for us.

I met Merinda at the Bridal Extravaganza in January and went to check out the Venue soon after. I absolutely fell in love with the Magnolia Ballroom. It has the historic feeling I was looking for with lots of windows, high ceilings, marble, dark wood features, covered balcony, and pictures and paraphernalia from the brewery. All of my guests loved the unique feel to the site.
I loved the fact that they had an assortment of bridal packages. They handle the catering, linens, bar, staff, security, parking, etc. Merinda is very easy to work with and she is very prompt in returning emails and phone calls.
The wedding was absolutely perfect and the venue lovely, especially at night. Very romantic. We all had an excellent time. When my transportation failed to show up Merinda went above and beyond to save the day. She ran out and tracked down a Horse and Carriage to whisk us away. It was absolutely perfect. I could not have picked a better venue!! It was a delight working with Merinda!!!

Beautiful, and reasonably priced! We had our wedding reception here in September. The venue is a restored Houston brewery with a lot of history. Something that can be hard to find in Houston! Lovely oak staircases and wood floors, original bar complete with taps and stained glass, a patio with a nice view of the bayou and the city, and a very impressive mural on the ceiling! If you're on a budget, this venue is great because you don't really need a lot of decoration. Simple candlelight was enough to really make the place look absolutely stunning! We have really lovely pictures of the sunset coming through the windows and candlelight lighting the room.

Merinda was great! She is very responsive and really worked with us. There were no hidden fees or surprises in the end. She was very up front with us and worked within our budget. The great thing about the venue is you get almost the entire building, including the patio in your rental. The place is large enough for a pretty big wedding, but yet it has an intimate, romantic fee. The food and drinks are also included in the rental, and the food doesn't taste like typical catered wedding food. Seriously, try the etouffee and the beef tips!

We visited a lot of venues and did quite a bit of research, and this was by far the best deal. It was everything we were looking for!

We had our June wedding reception at The Magnolia Ballroom. It is a pretty place with lots of character, one that does not need alot of decorating or flowers, which is nice when sticking to a budget. Miranda was very flexible and took good care of us. The only thing that I was not happy about was that my guests ended up paying for parking, when I paid the $500 fee for the rental of the lot. I was told by my guests that there was no sign up at the lot when they arrived and the lot attendant which is next to the ballrooms rented lot was flagging them in. Miranda told me that the sign was up.....I wonder if she put the sign up late or maybe they need a bigger sign. Miranda did tell me if I would let her know how many paid she would refund my $$ but I had no idea who parked where so it was a wash. One thing that we found difficult was getting Miranda to e mail us back with answers to questions in a timely manner. Also, we had picked our beer for the night and the one beer I really wanted for my guests was not available as a choice, Miranda chose another brand. The food is AMAZING though. Everyone commented on how delicious it all was.We had a fabulous time and did not want it to end.

This place was good for my reception of 100 people. They took very good care of us and was fun. The only thing that would have made it perfect was if they had the AC turned on high before we arrived. - it was an afternoon reception and it was pretty hot for an hour or so, then gradually was ok.

The Magnolia Ballroom is simply a beautiful venue in a great town (which is nice when you're trying to show off Houston). It's not just one big hall, so you have a lot of flexibility in how you lay things out, and Dewayne has the drill down pat. He can help you with your vendors for everything involving the reception, or let you choose which vendors to work with. For an extra fee, we were even able to bring in and outside caterer that was not on his preferred caterer's list (which is very rare in Houston). Dewayne was a huge help and made sure that everything went smoothly, and the venue is so pretty it hardly needs any decoration (which more than pays off the reasonable fee).
