The Inn at Roop's Mill is a beautiful location for a wedding ceremony and reception. The venue was clean and the grounds were spotless. My only negative feedback is that the owner is a bit strict when it comes to wedding day preparation and the reception. My bridal party and I weren't allowed in the bridal suite until 3:00 pm (ceremony started at 5:00 pm) and we ended up making more use of one of the rooms in the on-site spa for picture taking. The bridal suite is incredibly small and does not lend a nice backdrop for pictures. The receptions are also kept on a very tight schedule. We had a four hour reception which began immediately after the ceremony ended, so we had to sacrifice some of our reception time in order to get group photos. Overall, the day went very smoothly and I would recommend this venue to others.

The Inn at Roop's Mill was a perfect venue for our wedding reception and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a blank canvas with lots of room for creativity and color. Everyone was extremely professional and welcoming, the process of securing the venue was easy, and on the night of our reception everything went off without a hitch. There are a ton of great spots for photo's as well as a beautiful outside wrap around porch for guests to mingle. LOVED this venue!

Although you can't tell by the date of our wedding (Weddingwire won't allow me to back date to 2004) my wife Marla and myself were the VERY FIRST wedding and reception held at Roops Mill. As Jack, the owner, will attest, my wife and I canvased the greater Baltimore region searching for that perfect venue for both the wedding ceremony and the reception. When we pulled in to The Inn at Roops Mill, The Inn at Roops Mill DID NOT EXIST. It was an old, run down brick farm house that is now the day spa and an old run down ranch house. Jack clearly had a vision for what it could be. The reception hall did not exist yet. We saw the beautiful rolling hills, the old scaled replica of the Brooklyn Bridge to the left that was designed and built by the family that attended Johns Hopkins University back in the 1800's so they could avoid walking in the swampy area below and the old brick house that had yet to be renovated. You really had to have an imagination and a vision to what it could/would look like.

We spent half the day walking the ground with Jack as he shared in detail his vision for what he wanted to create. We were both (I more so than my wife) right there with him as he created this beautiful visual of what is will look like. It was old and charming, rustic, not pretentious or over the top. It was raw! Jack had to renovate the brick farm house and build from foundation up the reception hall.

Fast forward - he did an amazing job and completed it on time although I do remember Jack's son shoveling mulch on to a flower bed as we were pulling in on our wedding day!(smiling) It was that close. Jack suggested that Johansson's Dining House cater the wedding and the food was extraordinary!

So if you want real, rustic and not pretentious or over the top, Roops Mill is for you. It is a beautiful and serene setting toped with extraordinary service! Thanks Jack!

I would highly recommend The Inn at Roop’s Mill to anyone looking for a lovely ballroom setting with a breathtaking nature setting. After booking Roop’s for my wedding reception I read through several reviews all of which said that the venue was wonderful but Jack (the owner) was difficult to deal with. I must admit that I did not have any problems dealing with Jack in fact I found him to be extremely helpful. Jack recommended my florist, baker, and DJ – all of which were fabulous! The venue was beautiful especially on a wonderful fall day where the trees surrounding the wrap around pouch were filled with red and orange leaves. The caterer (which you are obligated to use) was also wonderful. My only negatives about my experience was that they are pretty much a cash only venue – they do not accept credit cards (both venues and caterer) and Jack does not use e-mail so all communication is via phone and mail. Even with these negatives, I would still highly recommend Roop’s for a wedding reception. The service that I received on the day of my wedding and they days leading up to it was outstanding. The venue is beautiful, the grounds make for stunning pictures, and the food was delicious. If I had to do it again I wouldn’t hesitate to choose Roop’s.

The venue is beautiful, but the service is lacking. The person we were in contact with was rarely able to get in touch with and took several days to get back to us. Some of the rules and regulations were a bit much and they didn't work with us in regards to availability to the venue, etc. It's a beautiful place, but needs improvement on customer service.

This venue is very beautiful with an outdoor scenic Ceremony setting and a very nice Reception Room. They partner with Johansson's Catering to provide wonderful meals (great crabcakes!!!), top drawer service, fexibility and helpfulness. It seems so rustic, it is hard to believe that it is only 3.5 miles from downtown Westminster and right off the main road (Rt. 140).

Many pictures were taken of the guests with the woods and buildings as backgrounds. This could be done from the large deck and porch that surrounds the hall.

We had our wedding at Roop's Mill on 10/20. Everything went perfectly. It was a beautiful fall day and Roop's Mill's landscaping and buildings made for great pictures! Everyone complimented how pretty the reception hall was.
If you have read comments about the owner, Jack-don't listen to them. The only time I had to deal with Jack was when I first looked and booked Roop's Mill and during that time he was nice, professional, and helpful. Once it gets closer to your wedding date, everything goes through Wendy, from Johansson's-who does the catering. Wendy is absolutely wonderful and will go over and beyond what you ask for. My DJ was an hour late, and she started making phone calls to find a back-up DJ. Knowing that she was willing to go out of her way to do that for me made my experience with Roop's Mill so much better. Johansson's has amazing food; you will not be let down!!

This venue is amazing!!! I had both my ceremony and reception at this location. The ceremony setting is one of a kind and the crew made sure everything went as planned! The outside ceremony is beautiful and perfect for any wedding. The owner keeps the area very well maintained! The reception hall is just as beautiful as the outside. The hall is well maintained as well and is beautiful even without decorations! I highly recommend this location!!!!!!!

My husband and I got married at the Inn at Roop's Mill this past June. The site was amazing and we had many compliments on what a wonderful location we had chosen.

I chose Roop's because of the classic beauty that it portrayed. Luckily, we had fantastic weather on our wedding evening and were able to utilize the outdoor ceremony site, which was gorgeous. The reception was well put-together and laid out, thanks to the help of caterer and wedding coordinator, Wendy Johansson.

The owner of the venue, Jack, was extremely accommodating and helpful. I have read in other reviews that arrival times were not flexible, but this was not the case with our wedding. Our ceremony was to start at 6pm, and I asked that my girls and I have access to the day room by 2pm, as we needed to get ready for pictures to start at 4pm, and he accommodated this request with no hesitation. My only complaint is that Jack seems a bit disorganized. I felt like I was answering the same questions over and over again. Other than that, everything was great!

I can't say enough good things about the Inn at Roop's Mill as a reception venue. Jack was extremely helpful when I called to inquire about the venue and was prompt in setting up an appointment. It was the only place I looked! Beautiful inside and out, it is a great place for a party. Beyond that it was a great experience working with the company. They contract with Johannson's catering and the food was amazing. Jack was very accommodating regarding drop off times when we didn't use traditional vendors and made some great recommendations for us. If you are looking for a wonderful venue for your reception, look no further!
