I was a bit torn on whether I wanted to write a review because looking back on our wedding, my husband, our guests, and I have such wonderful memories. It was a dream come true & we credit so much of that to choosing the Mansion as our venue. Everyone commented on how beautiful, unique and special the property was, not to mention how great the location was. My closest girls & I stayed at the Mansion Friday night (getting ready there Saturday morning was the ultimate luxury) & many of the guys joined us Saturday night, which was so fun. The 18 months leading up to the wedding were also wonderful. Nicole, the Events Manager (as well as Shawn, the Property Manager) was always quick to answer my MANY emails. If we could relive that whole weekend over & over again, we would. It was the best time ever, which is why it pains me to say anything negative about it. My hope is that by pointing out a few of the downsides, such issues will be addressed so that this venue can continue giving so many couples their dream wedding. The Mansion is not a cheap venue & therefore one may find some of these things a bit disappointing. The Mansion itself, while lovely, definitely needs some TLC. Most guests probably wouldn't notice it, but staying there for the weekend, you definitely see that quite a few things are broken or need replaced. Additionally, there were some issues with the valet, which delayed the start of the ceremony by about 15 minutes. The Owner, Chukki, really just does not seem like a nice guy. My husband, family & I all attempted smiling &/or small talking with him & were shot down each time. While Nicole is a great Events Manager, we realized the day of the wedding that if you disagree with an opinion of hers, she’ll quickly turn on you, which really just made me sad. Lastly, the breakfast both days was disappointing, though the girl who was filling in for the normal chef did her best & was very sweet. Despite any of this, we'd still recommend the Mansion.

Our wedding at the Mansion at Maple Heights was perfect. It was everything that my fiance dreamed of and more. We booked the Mansion Friday through Sunday and it was beyond worth it!! It was so great to be on location all weekend. Nicole was also absolutely wonderful from start to finish. She did not miss one detail and was 100% focused on making sure we had the wedding that we wanted. Her hard work truly paid off! I really felt like I did not have to worry about one thing once the weekend starting and it was so wonderful to be able to just relax and enjoy the event. The venue is such a unique and beautiful space, and ended up working so well for our wedding. We had an amazing wedding at the Mansion, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a unique indoor/outdoor space in Pittsburgh!!

The Mansion on Maple Heights is one of my favorite B&Bs. I love the staff, they are so attentive and I decided to have my wedding event there. Nicole is the manager and also the wedding coordinator and I can say nothing but great things about her. She made sure that all our needs were met and I have nothing but praises for her. Former Pittsburgh Steeler Chukky Okobi is the owner of the Mansion and he was also there making sure that we were comfortable. Breakfast was served on time and had a variety of things we could choose from. The Mansion had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The food for our wedding was provided by Big Burrito and I have to say, they know what they are doing. The food was delicious. The vendors are exclusive to the mansion and that was initially a concern, but after meeting the vendors, I knew we chose the right place to have our wedding. I highly recommend this venue!

We had our wedding reception at the Mansion at Maple Heights in May 2015. Our experience with the Mansions left much to be desired. This place touts themselves as a luxurious experience, but they are truly anything but. The Mansion itself is in disrepair, particularly in the guest rooms. This is something we did not notice in our initial tour, but were really disappointed once we spent some time there overnight on the weekend (we stayed Friday and Saturday nights). For how much money the Mansion charges to have your wedding there (about 10K to rent the place for the weekend), we had expected much more care and attention to be dedicated to our wedding. The wedding manager Nicole is ok, but nothing special. She is not what you would expect as the wedding manager of an upscale wedding venue. I spoke with the Mansions chef and other general manager who were present the morning after my wedding and they completely agreed with all of the concerns that I brought to their attention. They essentially said that we are certainly not the first patrons to bring these things to their attention, but not much can be done since the owner (Chukky Okabi) is a cheapskate and is running his business into the ground. He hires his friends to do any repairwork/maintenance/housekeeping and it shows. They told me to email Nicole after the wedding which we did (with no reply for over 2 weeks until a follow-up e-mail was sent). Eventually, they gave us a half-hearted apology and said they are sorry our experience was “not as we expected”. That’s it. Save your money and have you event somewhere else. I wouldn’t even recommend this place to stay at overnight as a B&B. Apparently, this place used to be great several years ago when the first started doing events, but now it is more of a wedding-factory type show. The mansion was an amazing choice for our wedding reception. Most of our guests were in awe of it, and could not believe that such a venue was available in Shadyside and no one had seen it before. Nicole was a pleasure to work with, and she ensured that all our questions were answered when needed. She also helped with all portions of the reception, and was a true professional. Shawn was also extremely helpful and polite, and he even took the time to take me aside and calm my nerves on the morning of the wedding. The rooms were amazing and our families thoroughly enjoyed staying there. It was well worth the price, and we had the dream wedding we had hoped for! We would definitely recommend it to friends and family for future events!

The Mansion at Maple Heights is an absolutely beautiful venue. We held both our ceremony and reception here and have received nothing but compliments from our guests-everyone comments on how unique, intimate, and gorgeous the Mansion was for such a special occasion. My bridesmaids and I also spent the night at the Mansion the night before and it was so fun and stress-free to be able to just wake up, go downstairs to have a delicious breakfast and then wait for hair and makeup to come to us. We watched movies, listened to music, and played cards while the guys hung out in the Theater room upstairs prior to the Ceremony. It was also incredibly convenient for my family to be able to simply walk up to their rooms after the wedding reception was over rather than have to drive to a hotel. Nicole Pope is the Event Manager at the Mansion and I can't speak highly enough about her....she was there for me every step of the way throughout the planning process. She deals with vendors directly (so you don't have to be on the telephone with six different businesses or worry about coordinating arrivals/delivery of the flowers, cake, linens, etc. the day of your wedding). She is highly organized and responsive and typically responds within an hour max of reaching out to her. She never once lost patience with me as I hammered her with questions about all of the little details. My husband, family, and bridal party all really enjoyed working with her and remarked how warm, professional and "on-the-ball" she is. I am so happy that we chose the Mansion and would highly recommend it and its staff to anyone interested in an unforgettable venue. The only reason I didn't give a 5/5 rating is that there seemed to be a little trouble with the Valet service before the Ceremony, so it started a little late but in the end it wasn't a big deal and everything was still perfect.

I don't even know where to begin. We booked the mansion Friday to Sunday for the wedding weekend and it was worth every penny! We were so relaxed and were never rushed to get the "last minute" wedding things done the night before. My bridesmaids and I stayed in the bridal suite Friday night and we had so much fun and created so many memories together! Yes... we did sneak around to find all of the hidden secrets of the mansion! What a beautiful building. Our makeup and hair ladies came Saturday morning and I felt like such a princess! Having all of the florist, linen, and caterers guaranteed made SUCH the difference! There are so many other things to do during the wedding process that you can just scratch those things right off your list. The wedding came together BEAUTIFULLY and we are still receiving so many compliments. I HIGHLY recommend the Mansion at Maple Heights for your wedding. I keep telling everyone we need to rent it out and do it all again next year. What an amazing night. Thank you!!!!!!! <3 Alexis

The mansion is such a beautiful place and I couldn't be happier that it was our wedding venue. Absolutely every detail was more beautiful because it is such a beautiful and romantic space. We are lucky to have such amazing friends and family who helped provide us with a wonderful wedding day. However, having your wedding planner text you at 10am on the day of your wedding to say that she couldn't make it because she didn't feel well adds a large amount of unneeded stress to your big day. But not to worry she would sub in "Shawn" the maintenance and groundskeeper at the Mansion. Before I continue please take a second to let that resonate...it was my wedding day, and my wedding planner is bailing the morning of!

Shawn did his best he could. However, during preparation he brought the enjoyment of my morning to a abrupt halt, twice by bursting into the bridal suite and yelling at my bridal party. Lacking a sense of professionalism to say the least. Multiple other problems occurred that day that could've been handled by the wedding planner but instead were put on the shoulders of my bridal party - chair reservation issue, limo inability to make it up steep mansion driveway, cater unaware of special ice cream (my husband had to leave mid dinner to ensure it was served), etc.

Also, be weary this place has been under close watch for quite some time by the local residents and authorities who don't approve of the old bed-and-breakfast hosting weddings, (http://triblive.com/news/adminpage/4570169-74/board-tent-events#axzz2lKwQaKkr). We received an email briefly stating they were unable to have the DJ outside and that the dancing would have to be moved inside. This was far from the vision we had and it was too late in planning to change.

I will say this, the Mansion at Maple Heights facilities are absolutely breathtaking. However, in good conscious I could never recommend someone to put their wedding day in the hands of the people who work there....remember, you only get one.

I truly apologize for the unprofessionalism I showed by texting you. After all the planning and getting to know people, I tend to view them more as friends than just clients. Unfortunately, I was ill the day of your wedding. Shawn is not just the groundkeeper and maintenance man, he is the General Manager. He has worked over 100 weddings and is very capable of handling events on his own, just as he did while I was on maternity leave. Also, he was "bursting into the bridal suite" because a dog had been snuck into one of the guest rooms and had been kept overnight, which is not permitted. They were supposed to be asked to leave. He persuaded the owner to make an exception so as not to ruin the day. You also lit floating Chinese lanterns despite being told via email that they were not permitted on our property. One of the lanterns got stuck in a surrounding tree and could have caused a major fire. It is against city law as they are considered fireworks. Shawn was able to put out the fire and kept the fire department from coming. Otherwise, you would have been heavily fined. While I was not there in person, I dealt with the chair reservation issue myself. The chairs were not on any rental invoices, but we did get the chairs there for you the day of your wedding. I am unsure why the limo was unable to make it up the road as we have had full sized tour buses on our property. Neither myself or the caterer were aware of the ice cream before the wedding weekend. I apologize for not relaying the message. As for the article, I will happily explain to any potential clients exactly what is going on and where that situation sits. We did email you first, but we also sat down and called every single client individually to explain what was going on and why. I am sorry that I was sick. I would have much rather been at your wedding since you two were such a joy to work with. If I could take back the way in which I informed you, I absolutely would. I will not make that mistake again.
