I don't even know where to begin. We booked the mansion Friday to Sunday for the wedding weekend and it was worth every penny! We were so relaxed and were never rushed to get the "last minute" wedding things done the night before. My bridesmaids and I stayed in the bridal suite Friday night and we had so much fun and created so many memories together! Yes... we did sneak around to find all of the hidden secrets of the mansion! What a beautiful building. Our makeup and hair ladies came Saturday morning and I felt like such a princess! Having all of the florist, linen, and caterers guaranteed made SUCH the difference! There are so many other things to do during the wedding process that you can just scratch those things right off your list. The wedding came together BEAUTIFULLY and we are still receiving so many compliments. I HIGHLY recommend the Mansion at Maple Heights for your wedding. I keep telling everyone we need to rent it out and do it all again next year. What an amazing night. Thank you!!!!!!! <3 Alexis

Our wedding at the Mansion at Maple Heights was amazing to say the least. A fairy tale dream come true. This gorgeous venue took the guess work out of it for me. Planning a wedding from MD in PA is no easy feat.Unless you use the mansion wedding network that is! They had a vendor for every need and GREAT vendors to boot. Top Notch service and quality. Nicole was the glue that held it all together for me and I'm happy to say I think that I've made a friend for life ;). I also was able to stay at the Mansion the night prior to my wedding with my maids which provided a few extra memories to look back on and smile. The Mansion at Maple Heights provided an excellent canvas for the photographs that I will treasure forever. I just cant say enough about this fabulous venue... Thank you Mansion Staff !

Aww! Thanks! We loved having you and we really enjoyed working with you! You had some amazing DIY touches and that definitely made for some great photos for us as well. Come back to see us again soon :)
My husband and I recently got married on May 12, 2012. The Mansion at Maple Heights more than exceeded all of our expectations. From the first tour at the venue, we knew this is where we wanted to get married. Nicole, the wedding coordinator deserves a raise! She's absolutely FABULOUS from beginning to end, she was there every step of the way. She was always there to answer my questions and to answer questions I never even thought of! She by far is the main reason weddings held at the Mansion are so spectacular…she went above and beyond for my wedding and I have to think she does that for each of her brides. On the actual day of the wedding, Shawn and Scott, were AWESOME! The two of them were so attentive to myself, my husband, and all of our guests. They were truly there to ensure everyone had a great time, and we did! The Mansion's exclusive "network" of vendors is the best thing about having your wedding at this venue. Not having to research vendors to find the "best of the best" is amazing. It made the entire wedding planning process so seamless and stress-free...I can't imagine planning a wedding any other way. And luckily, I'll never have to. Honestly, everything from the decorations, to the food, and to the beautiful setting were outstanding - and even though I may be biased because it was my wedding...the thank-you cards we received from our guests for inviting them to "our" wedding, speak for themselves!!! To some, the Mansion may seem extravagant, but my husband and I can say positively, without a doubt, it was worth every single penny, and more! This wedding venue deserves more than the 5 stars I can give it!! They made our wedding dreams a reality!!

We are so excited to have you as part of the Mansion family Lauren! You and Bill are so perfect for each other. We can't wait to have you back again soon! Thank you for being such wonderful and courteous guests. People like you two make our job worth every second :)
Words cannot express how thankful we are to Chukky Okobi and his staff at The Mansion at Maple Heights for making our wedding day the most amazing time of our lives. The food was fantastic, the flowers were breathtaking and the atmosphere was truly magical.

Chukky has surrounded himself with a team of the best in the business and this will become very apparent to all that have the pleasure of dealing with them during the planning process. We found the staff to be extremely accommodating, making sure every detail was taken care of as we wished. As Chukky is famous for saying "it is your wedding..your way"

The Mansion at Maple Heights far exceeded our very high expectations and I would highly recommend them to any couple looking for their happily ever after.

The Mansion at Maple Heights was the perfect place for our wedding! We had a lot of out of town guests, so we wanted to have the wedding downtown for there to be plenty of things for the guests to do over the weekend and wouldn't have to drive all over. But the problem with most city venues is they can be very cold and uninviting. Not with The Mansion!

We got all the benefits of a city wedding, but still got the charming setting with lush greenery and a great old world feeling. The Mansion couldn't be in a better location. Chukky has thought of everything you could ever need to make your wedding amazing.

On our day it started to rain minutes before the ceremony; Chukky was on his computer tracking the storm and giving us updates every few minutes on when we could start. They are really on top of their game!

We planned our wedding from a different state, and I have no doubt in my mind that we would not have gotten the perfect wedding if we'd chosen another venue. The Mansion team was always there to answer a quick question and was extremely helpful throughout the entire planning process. The moment we signed with them, a huge weight was lifted, because with The Mansion, you also get all of their amazing vendors as well. We used most of their recommended extra vendors - like the photographer and DJ - and were extremely pleased with this extension to the team.

The only constructive criticism we could give to the team is about parking. All cars are valeted, which was great for the guests when they arrived, but a little slow when is came to the retrieval. Everything ended up just fine for us, our guest just did some mingling, but I could see it being a problem if there were some easily irritated guests in the future.

We would (and will!) definitely recommend The Mansion At Maple Heights to future couples for a perfect wedding spot in the heart of Pittsburgh!

Thanks Laura! We were really happy to have you with us and glad that you had such a great experience. We also understand that the valet company was a bit slow for your wedding and have been trying to make some changes this year to ensure that we are getting better at this. We hope you will come back to stay with us again soon!

No flexibility in services.  Carpet was dirty and needs replaced.  Breakfast served late and was brought 1 meal at a time.  When this was brought to their attention, they denied it by referencing video cameras. I e-mailed the wedding planner, and she made excuses for everything that I was disappointed in. Very little apology was given. The Mansion at Maple Heights is a disappointment. It may look beautiful from the outside - but they have a lot of issues. Don't be fooled - appearances are deceiving.

Again, I am sorry that you seem to be upset with this result. I was extremely apologetic when writing this email because I do not want anyone to be upset after an event here. I spent almost an hour and a half of the day before another couples wedding researching the issue and responding to you because I did feel it that important. We do have surveillance cameras with time stamps so I wanted to take a look back and see with my own eyes what you were talking about. I'd be happy to show that to you if you'd like. You had stated that the bride and groom were happy with the wedding and that it turned out exactly as they had planned. If you felt I was making excuses for anything, that was not my intent. I simply want you to understand from our point of view. I feel it necessary to copy/paste my email to you with the explanations.

1. I am sorry if we did not meet when you arrived at the Mansion, but I was indeed here on Friday at check-in and until about 6pm that evening. I actually helped Anthony order a dance floor for the next day and spoke with your daughter a few times as well.

As for the check-in time, the time of arrival was clearly stated in the contract and we also discussed this over the phone earlier that week. Because we are a functioning B&B, we did have a full house the night prior to your check in and we do not make exceptions to the rule simply because we are not yet ready for you. There is a lot of set-up and prep required before your arrival and it is important to us that it is completely ready for you when you get here so that you do not have to wait on us.

I am also sorry that it wasn't conveyed to you upon check-in that there is someone here all night. We have two innkeepers who live on-site and are here all night. However, as you noticed on the sheet you received upon check-in, there is a contact phone number to reach someone at all hours of the day. I am glad it worked out and you were able to get the saran wrap.

2. This one is actually what took me longer to respond to you. When I arrived here today, I took a look back at the video cameras. We do not like to place blame without checking first. The chef took the first order on Saturday at 8:03am. The breakfast hours were listed on the check-in info sheet as 8am-10am. As was explained, the breakfast is completely made to order and made fresh, which does take a bit more time than having a bunch of things cooked ahead of time and sitting in the back getting cold. Every person who came down for breakfast was served and had left the dining area by 10am. I do apologize if that was unacceptable for you. Was the quality of food ok for you? Of course we are interested in feedback so we can make improvements where necessary.

The young woman who was there helping our chef was in fact the innkeeper, Amanda, not the person who was there to replace me. She was simply helping the chef so that he could stay in the kitchen to cook. Her attire is within the guidelines (shorts longer than fingertips and a Mansion shirt) while on duty. I am sorry that you felt it was unprofessional. With all of that said, we will not be refunding your money for the breakfasts.

3. I am sure you understand that when a number of people are asking for cars at the same time, it is impossible to get them all back at once. However, all of the guests who requested them did have their cars within 15 minutes. While they waited, the guests were able to stay inside the Mansion rather than being forced to wait outside.

You are absolutely right, the cabs are the city of Pittsburgh's issue. The cab system could definitely use a bit of work. After speaking with Shawn (our other manager who was on duty that night), he informed me that most people who called were being told that a cab would be 2 hours or longer. He made phone calls to personal friends of his to ensure that the guests who did request a cab were given priority. We did all we could to help out with that situation.

4. I know that the bridal dance shots were a last minute issue and I wish this could have been resolved this sooner than 2 days before the wedding. So you understand the reasoning behind this, I want to explain that we do not allow shots for the safety of your guests. We do not want your guests drinking more than they are able to handle and then getting in a car and leaving the Mansion. While we have no liability in this, we do not want them or anyone else on the roads to be injured because of a simple thing like this. We understand that your guests may not have been the ones to do this, but in an attempt to control the liquor consumption, this has become policy. I am glad a compromise was able to be made for the bridal dance and you were in fact able to do the dance. I apologize if this was not made clear in advance and will strive to make that more well-known in the future.

5. I am sorry the carpeting seemed dirty. I can assure you that we do clean it often. Since it is a high traffic area, it is difficult to keep white. It is something that we are hoping to replace in the future, but I am sure you can understand that it is not a small project.

As for the cracks in the concrete by the entrance to the tent, I actually want to thank you for pointing that out! You know how when you see something every day, you don't seem to notice it as much? We have overlooked that because we are so used to it. But of course, shifting does happen and that is something we will take care to fix in the coming weeks.

6. I am adding this one because it seems you are upset that I was not there for the event. I apologize for that, but Saturday morning my grandmother was admitted to the hospital for stroke-like symptoms. As you can understand, sometimes family comes first. This is not something I would have had anyone mention to you because it would be a bit of a downer for you, your daughter, and family. Your daughter's wedding day is one that should be full of happiness! I left you in the very capable hands of Shawn, our other manager, with whom I spoke with throughout the day to ensure everything was going according to plan. Thankfully, my grandmother is ok and it was not a stroke after all.
We are lucky to have such amazing friends and family who helped provide us with a wonderful wedding day. However, having your wedding planner text you at 10am on the day of your wedding to say that she couldn't make it because she didn't feel well adds a large amount of unneeded stress to your big day. But not to worry she would sub in "Shawn" the maintenance and groundskeeper at the Mansion. Before I continue please take a second to let that resonate...it was my wedding day, and my wedding planner is bailing the morning of!

Shawn did his best he could. However, during preparation he brought the enjoyment of my morning to a abrupt halt, twice by bursting into the bridal suite and yelling at my bridal party. Lacking a sense of professionalism to say the least. Multiple other problems occurred that day that could've been handled by the wedding planner but instead were put on the shoulders of my bridal party - chair reservation issue, limo inability to make it up steep mansion driveway, cater unaware of special ice cream (my husband had to leave mid dinner to ensure it was served), etc.

Also, be weary this place has been under close watch for quite some time by the local residents and authorities who don't approve of the old bed-and-breakfast hosting weddings, (http://triblive.com/news/adminpage/4570169-74/board-tent-events#axzz2lKwQaKkr). We received an email briefly stating they were unable to have the DJ outside and that the dancing would have to be moved inside. This was far from the vision we had and it was too late in planning to change.

I will say this, the Mansion at Maple Heights facilities are absolutely breathtaking. However, in good conscious I could never recommend someone to put their wedding day in the hands of the people who work there....remember, you only get one.

The Mansion at Maple Heights responded with the following comments:

I truly apologize for the unprofessionalism I showed by texting you. After all the planning and getting to know people, I tend to view them more as friends than just clients. Unfortunately, I was ill the day of your wedding. Shawn is not just the groundkeeper and maintenance man, he is the General Manager. He has worked over 100 weddings and is very capable of handling events on his own, just as he did while I was on maternity leave. Also, he was "bursting into the bridal suite" because a dog had been snuck into one of the guest rooms and had been kept overnight, which is not permitted. They were supposed to be asked to leave. He persuaded the owner to make an exception so as not to ruin the day. You also lit floating Chinese lanterns despite being told via email that they were not permitted on our property. One of the lanterns got stuck in a surrounding tree and could have caused a major fire. It is against city law as they are considered fireworks. Shawn was able to put out the fire and kept the fire department from coming. Otherwise, you would have been heavily fined. While I was not there in person, I dealt with the chair reservation issue myself. The chairs were not on any rental invoices, but we did get the chairs there for you the day of your wedding. I am unsure why the limo was unable to make it up the road as we have had full sized tour buses on our property. Neither myself or the caterer were aware of the ice cream before the wedding weekend. I apologize for not relaying the message. As for the article, I will happily explain to any potential clients exactly what is going on and where that situation sits. We did email you first, but we also sat down and called every single client individually to explain what was going on and why. I am sorry that I was sick. I would have much rather been at your wedding since you two were such a joy to work with. If I could take back the way in which I informed you, I absolutely would. I will not make that mistake again.
