The Moonlighters were a great band--they really knew how to get down! However, they didn't not do a thorough check of the sound system before our reception. All of the three first dance songs (bride/groom, father/daughter and mother/son) turned out awful...they had something not set up correctly, and you could barely hear the music playing! We all had to dance like we could hear the music... a big let down. And they ended the night early. They had a written schedule of everything, and it just didn't go according to plan. But they played all our favorite songs, and did a great job with that. Plus they looked great! I would recommend them, just be wary of their set up and preparation.

They MADE the party! Long after the wedding day I was getting compliments on our awesome band. The 4/5 stars off was because they didn't learn my first dance song and failed to mention it until right before we took to the floor. It caused a mini panic attack but thank goodness my wedding planner had the foresight to grab my ipod which had the song on it. Thankfully the band just plugged in my ipod and we were good to go.

when it comes to music, this band was fantastic.
they sounded great, got people dancing and the guests loved them.
they didn't have all the information about first dances etc., or a timeline of events that i had given the manager, but since i picked classic songs they knew them and it wasn't a problem.
excellent musicians, great energy.

The musicians and the music were fantastic! I was pleased with the band. I wasn't always pleased with the timliness of the manager's responses. I also was disappointed when at 8:15 p.m. the night of our reception I heard the band play the song they were asked to play as my husband and I exited the reception site at 9:15! The manager had the timeline well in advance of the event. I'm now clueless as to the song of "our last dance". I recommend the band but you need to confirm and then re-confirm with the manager.

WONDERFUL wedding band WONDERFUL. We went with 6 pieces and could not have been happier. They were worth going over budget for. The manager is not particularly good at communicating your information to the band so what I did and what I would recommend that you do is prepare a letter to the band to accompany the final payment for the date of the wedding that says what you need to tell them. i.e. first dance song is ___, then father daughter dance is ___ and spell it out for them.

I cannot emphasize enough how good the band is and how professional the band is. All of my guests are still talking about them!

I will start by saying the singing and music were fabulous--when they were playing! They do take a lot of breaks! Bring a cd if you do use them. I made one because I was getting the idea that they take a lot of breaks. But they were really good. I used the jazz group so be aware that if you do, that group doesn't know alot of songs that you may request from their standard playlist on the website. I liked them alot and overall i was happy with them. Very talented musicians.

This band showed up 2 hours late to our wedding, which was about four hours away from Virginia. They didn't learn the first song we'd asked them to play and instead, showed up with a poor quality recording of the song that they'd downloaded from myspace. The band informed my husband that "they'd tried to learn the song on the drive to our wedding but weren't able to." When my husband made the mistake of complaining about this to the front man, the front man got very aggressive, threatened him, and told us that he was packing the band up and driving home. I reasoned with one of the female members of the band, who seemed absolutely appalled at the front man's behavior, and the front man came up to me and said "don't talk to them, you talk to me, this is my band." Desperate at this point, I actually apologized to these terrible people, since they were now holding my event hostage. They agreed to play, but took a break about every 20 minutes and the front man made repeated cracks at my husband's expense throughout the reception. (i.e. "Like what you hear? Tell the groom, he's too cheap to pay us overtime." "We'd play longer but we know we won't be getting a tip from the groom."). Of course, we'd never said we weren't going to tip them. All we wanted was for them to just play at our wedding. We'd already pre-paid! There are always two sides of a story, but trust me, this is not an exaggeration in any way and I'm not leaving ANYTHING out. We are really low-maintenance people but now, years later, still are not at the "we can laugh about it now" stage. We paid for our wedding ourselves and the band was our one big splurge. I can't tell you how disappointed we were to pay 6000 bucks only to be insulted and harrassed by the performer at our wedding, who then barely performed. In hindsight, we should have just let them drive home.
