Everything about our experience working with the people at the Morton Arboretum and their preferred caterer, Ginkgo Catering, was overwhelmingly positive. They have so many beautiful locations—indoor and outdoor—to choose from (for ceremony and reception sites alike), and phenomenal staff to help you realize your dream wedding, whatever its size or scope. The information available on their website and in their brochures made it really easy to select specific sites and seasonal packages best suited to our needs, and their team of dedicated customer service staff and coordinators guarantees a smooth planning process from beginning to end. Thank you Dana and Colleen! My beautiful wedding wouldn't have been possible without you two!

I'd say that everything was great until the actual day of the wedding. It was very difficult to get ahold of our wedding planner, Dana, throughout the process and being from out of town made it more difficult b/c there was only one face to face meeting. I also had to ask for info after I was supposed to be provided with it, like the table layout. I pretty much had to call for two weeks before I finally got a response for the layout, chair rentals & to make my final payment. Colleen was our catering manager and she seemed to keep me in the loop throughout the process. The actual day of the wedding was a nightmare. I never received a call to coordinate bringing the decorations & setting up and when I tried to call I got a voicemail saying the planner would be out of town until the following week. Needless to say i freaked out. I then tried to call the Arboretum directly and couldn't get an answer. I had to drop everything I was doing to drive over there & see what was going on, causing me to run late for hair and makeup. I dropped off all decorations and had to explain what was supposed to happen to one of my relatives so that they could coordinate with someone on site, if they were to show up. The only time I saw my coordinator was right before the ceremony and all she did was open the door for the processional. My guests loved the food and said it was the best "wedding" food they had ever had. There were a few things that went wrong though, some guests were given the wrong meals and they ran out of the lemon sorbet. How this happens I don't know but of course i was never reimbursed for this. Also better coordination with the Cakery would've been nice. They delivered an obvious surprise grooms cake (redwings logo in the shape of a hockey puck) and didn't know what it was for, so they thought the first person to ask would be the Groom. Probably not the best idea. The venue was beautiful but advice for future brides: Ensure your planner will be there the day of.

We held both our ceremony and reception on 10.28.16 at the Thornhill Education Center on the West Side of The Morton Arboretum. We were very happy with our coordinator Dana who was able to answer all of our questions (and there were plenty!) as well as very helpful on the day-of, setting up our ceremony/reception extras so perfectly that they were exactly as I had envisioned. She also was great at guiding us during the ceremony, which was extremely helpful because we were unable to do the rehearsal inside the venue. (Note to brides/grooms, it's almost guaranteed you can't rehearse on-site because of the multiple events they schedule, so have a Plan B ready!)

Food was outstanding as well. My guests said that the steak was the best they ever had at a wedding, and I heard many glowing reviews about the baby carrots. You do get invited to a fabulous group tasting a few months out from the wedding. Come hungry, as you have so much to choose from!! This helped us pick our food. I never would've chosen Flat Iron Steak if I didn't get to try it and find out it was amazing. Portions are also quite large, another plus.

It is worth noting to future brides/grooms the following: Communication with the venue can be difficult at times. "Out of office/limited to no access to email/phone" auto responses from both catering and venue coordinators were frequent. Additionally, catering didn't seem to be as organized as the venue coordinators. Our account was shifted between three catering managers, which maybe was due to the fact that we were only a 72 guest wedding and thus our priority was a bit lower on their list...just my two cents. They also neglected to listen to my request to not keep the cake topper (since I am gluten free and couldn't eat the cake) and thus we ran out of cake. They ended up serving my groom's cake to several guests. I ended up basically getting only frosting...you'd think the bride would get a decent slice of her own cake, right?

We recently got married in the Hedge Garden at the Morton Arboretum. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful! We had enough chairs to support all 220 guests. In addition, we took some beautiful pictures around the grounds both before and after our ceremony. Our cocktail hour and reception were in the welcome center and Ginkgo room. Once again, we were blown away at the beauty of the space. The food was delicious all the way from appetizers, to salads, to dinner. In addition, the staff was friendly and accommodating. The space available for dancing was also perfect. All in all, we had the PERFECT wedding at the Morton Arboretum and I would strongly suggest using it for a wedding!

My husband and I had our ceremony and reception at the Morton Arboretum a few months back, and it was AMAZING! We originally were going to have the ceremony in the Hedge Garden and the reception in the Ginkgo Room, but due to some iffy weather we ended up having the whole thing in the Ginkgo Room. Truly, I think it turned out even better that way- the space was gorgeous (even with the rain), the food was great, and Kim and company did a great job helping us figure out seating and tables and working with us to pull everything together. We had definitely had a little bit of sticker shock while we were planning, but it ended up being great. Highly recommend!

We had our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception at the Thornhill Education Center at the Morton Arboretum a couple of weeks ago. We could not have asked for a better venue and team to work with. Denise was our facility coordinator and she was super easy to work with since day 1. I don't know what we would have done without her and the catering team. The day of our wedding went very smoothly. The scenery, space, and food were amazing. Our guests are still raving about our wedding. We definitely recommend hosting a wedding or any event at the Morton Arboretum.

We booked our wedding and reception at the Thornhill Education Center of the Morton Arboretum. It was perfect, and off the beaten path. We had an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception and the staff at the Morton Arboretum was professional, easy to work with and made my life a little bit easier. Plus, the grounds are stunning (as always). The nice thing about working with the Arboretum is that you are given a coordinator to work with. Dana was amazing! My only complaint would be that she was a little hard to reach during the final few weeks, but I understand that she works an off schedule (weekends and whatnot). All in all, it was the perfect day and I would recommend picking the Morton Arboretum to anyone! Oh, and the food & wine was fantastic.

I had my ceremony at the Hedge Garden and my reception at the White Pine Pavilion. This was a perfect option if you prefer a setting far from the banquet hall experience. Denise was our coordinator and did a wonderful job at pulling it all together. However, the cater was a nightmare. If they had been on their game a 5 star review would have been in order because we truly did have an amazing wedding. But when it came down to it we gave Gingko Catering over 20k and they didn't even serve wine at our tables, they ran out of things like chicken, limes, various other things you'd expect a catering company would be on top of ordering what was needed. There seemed to be a chronic disconnect with what the Morton and the caterer said was going to happen. While our food was delicious there was really no excuse for no table service other than it wasn't included at the White Pine Pavilion. Yet we were told by two different people that the bar would be closed during dinner and we had to choose wine for this time. They lost our information from the tasting. Our catering coordinator changed a few weeks before our wedding. We mostly only heard from them when they were asking for money but failed to send us invoices or to detail when we paid for things. We had a proposal of cost with them but no real "contract" that stated things like that I needed to provide them with a list of what each table is eating. Just overall a failure in communication. I offered to put markers for what people ordered on my table cards if they would agree to take off the $3 for each plate to offer more than one meal option. They wouldn't do that so I didn't do the extra work and then when they provided terrible service to my guests telling them to wait to see what they had left over. When I asked what happened the finger was pointed at me. MY OWN PARENTS DIDN"T HAVE CHAMPAGE FOR THE TOASTS! Gorgeous venue just beware of the caterer. In desperate need of communication management.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Thornhill Education Center a few weekends ago and could not have been more thrilled with the Morton Arboretum! The Arboretum was already a place that we loved visiting and when we discovered that it also serves as a wedding venue--and a wedding venue that makes planning the event super easy--it was just a matter of availability. The moment we saw the Thornhill Building we knew it had the look and feel of what we wanted. We thought that if the weather cooperated that we would do the ceremony outside, but the weather was chilly on the day of our wedding and we did the ceremony inside in the Founder's Room (the library). Ultimately, we think this worked out even better! Although the room was a little tight given the number of guests (we had 115), it ended up being such an intimate setting for the ceremony, and also totally gorgeous with sunlight streaming in to the vestibule. The Morton staff was also spectacular. We worked with Denise as our primary venue coordinator and Colleen on catering. Both were wonderful to work with and had everything running like a finely tuned machine on the big day. The Morton catering and event staff was also fabulous--so thoughtful and so very good at what they do. It was a great feeling to sit back and watch our event unfold so perfectly as we were in the hands of professionals who really know how to do their jobs well. Thank you to everyone at the Morton Arboretum for making our day one we will never forget.
