I had always dreamed of having my wedding here. Unfortunately they should look to hire new wedding coordinator. I'm sure people get busy, but this is a business, and professionalism is key! Honestly, unless this hotel is special to you and and your significant other, avoid it at all costs. My now husband and I love Estes Park and The Stanley Hotel, so we were so excited we could get married there, and we regret that decision to this day. It takes them weeks and daily hassles for them to reply to you/your wedding planner even when it is an emergency, as in they switched your wedding date or guests were unable to book rooms; they have a total lack of communication with each other, leaving discussions and notes to not be transferred over; they change items that are offered with your package at whim; they do not have rooms ready when specified and you have to fight for a room your promised; they lose your items and do nothing to help rectify the situation; and they have such a notorious reputation that other vendors throughout the Estes area will actually comp you on items when they find out where you are getting married because they have heard all of the horror stories from couples throughout the years. Honestly, getting married here ruined our special place, and there are many other amazing and beautiful venues, that we highly recommend choosing another location. If you do get married here, make sure you request that you want to work with Brecken Clifton because she is the only one in that entire hotel that has work ethic, cares about clients, and is intelligent.

My now husband and I love Estes Park and The Stanley Hotel, so we were so excited we could get married there, and we regret that decision to this day. I see there are no reviews in the last year- it looks like things have declined at The Stanley. They had only one, brand new banquet manager for the whole hotel as of 1/2016. She finally got some help in June (2 more employees to help with events).

We thought about changing venues when we realized that the Stanley is not equipped to handle the level of customer service we expected from how much we were spending, but decided to go with lowered expectations when we couldn't find another venue with only 4 months to go. Big Mistake!

They did not provide enough servers for out 90 person sit down dinner. When my mother asked for water she was directed to get up and serve herself. In fact, everyone was expected to get up and go to the bar during dinner if they wanted anything to drink.

Our guests had difficulty with check in and check out. The ghost tour that we had all been looking forward to was a huge disappointment (8 out of 20 people finished the tour). We were unable to take group photos after the ceremony because anther wedding was everywhere that we tried to go, so I did not get any group photos (read: with my parents, with my bridesmaids- you know, those photos you take).

I will say, the view was beautiful, the food was delicious and the MacGreggor Ballroom is classy. But it's not worth the headache!

I see there are no reviews in the last year- it looks like things have declined at The Stanley. They had only one, brand new banquet manager for the whole hotel as of 1/2016. She finally got some help in June (2 more employees to help with events).

I had my wedding here in June and The Stanley is a beautiful venue to have a wedding. The scenery is breathtaking. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed the food during the wedding and also at their restaurant. Their breakfast was very good. Overall, the day was beautiful and the location was perfect.

This hotel is very disorganized. When I arrived the front desk could not tell me who or where my wedding coordinator was. Not a problem, I e-mailed her and we met up the following day, but kind of weird to experience the disjointedness between departments.

Housekeeping accidentally took a personal glass from our room (mistakes happen, no problem) but when I called down to see if they could find it before we checked out not only could they not locate it, but they promised they would continue to look and call me back with an update. I never received a return phone call or e-mail. This was part of a wedding gift, and I did express that.

During the process of planning my wedding, my wedding coordinator left her position and I was continuing to e-mail her asking questions. After my e-mails had gone unanswered I called to find she no longer worked for the Stanley and I had been assigned a new coordinator. This was very upsetting. It's a very basic thing to forward an e-mail address to ensure clients aren't left behind and at the very least they should have someone reach out personally when there's a change in planning such an important, personal event.

The night of the wedding, appetizers were served without a utensil station so people were trying to pick with their hands until I asked the staff to provide utensils. This was like mozzarella caprese, not generally a finger food.

I had requested our cocktail hour be set up for outside on the veranda since it was a beautiful day. They had the bar set up outside, but no tables or chairs for guests. The guests waited around for chairs and they never brought tables.

Our wedding was absolutely beautiful! We loved every minute of it. Hillary was a wonderful and accommodating event coordinator and the lunch buffet was amazing. All my guests said it was the best salmon they ever had. You can't beat the location and although the prices are a bit high, it was worth it!

I am having the hardest time getting ahold of Hilary at the Stanley to plan my destination wedding. I have left numerous messages and never seem to get a response. She is the third wedding planner that I have been assigned due to staffing problems. They have all had similar lack of responsiveness. The location is beautiful but I have had to tour it myself every time I visit because they are always busy or not there. The Stanley Hotel made our wedding planning and my daughter’s entire wedding very difficult. We went through 4 wedding coordinators in less than one year. It is not uncommon to go several days and even up to 1 week without receiving an e-mail response from the last coordinator that we worked with. I resorted to working with the Catering Sales Manager when I couldn’t get answers about the rehearsal dinner time and other questions because the coordinator failed to let me know before she went on a 2 week vacation (she promised to let me know 1 month before the wedding the rehearsal dinner time, but I didn’t even know that she was going to be out of the office). I had to finally just show up one day to work out the final details of the ceremony and reception because I wouldn’t get a timely response. My DJ even had better suggestions for the set up at the Concert Hall because the coordinator was so inexperienced at her job!
I would not recommend the Stanley Hotel as a wedding venue to anyone ever. I am devastated by the amount of money we spent on our daughter’s wedding and don’t feel they deserve even half of what we paid. The staff, with the exception of Jersey, was inexperienced and cold to our entire wedding party, family and friends. We heard constant complaints about how they were treated during their stay.
The wedding ceremony started at 4 pm and check in is also at 4 pm, so we were allowed to have early check in for VIP quests (wedding party). The maid of honor’s room along with her 2 friends didn’t get their room until 15 minutes before the wedding. It was ridiculous. Her friends were trying to apply makeup in the hallway and were told they could not do that there. We asked for a refund for that room, and was offered a 10% discount on their overpriced room rate. They only had the room for about 8 hours before leaving for the airport the next morning.
I urge you, don't bother with the Stanley, find another venue!

My wedding at the Stanley on 9/26/2015 was the most perfect day I could have ever asked for. Our event coordinator Cynthia did everything she could to see that the day flowed exactly as we wanted it to. She was there every step of the way for the rehearsal and ceremony and made sure she communicated with me throughout both of these days. She was quick to answer our questions and respond through e-mails. Everything ran exact according to my timeline and the guests loved their meals. We chose Salmon and Steak and the Steak was prepared Medium- just as we had requested. Our ceremony was on the Front Lawn and the hotel did a great job making sure there were no other guests disturbing the ceremony- the walkways and the hotel lobby were kept clear for us. I was concerned about the amount of space for our 115 guests with the new maze, but seating worked great and the site was everything I could have imagined.
The reason I gave service a 4 was because we had some issues in the beginning with coordinators leaving- I ended up having 4 different coordinators in all which was a little frustrating because I would email one and get no response, then call and find out that person did not work there anymore. The good thing was they all took precise notes and the next coordinator was able to pick up where the last one had left off without me having to explain everything I wanted all over again, and since Cynthia was around for the final 9 months of planning she was able to ensure that everything went according to plan. I was overjoyed with our experience between staying at the hotel for 3 nights, having everything we needed brought to our room so the girls could get hair and makeup done, and the way we were treated by all of the staff. Jersey- the head of the catering department did a great job with all of her servers at the wedding and made sure the reception ran smoothly. I would recommend the Stanley to anyone!
