Thompson Entertainment is a Canton based Professional Mobile Disc Jockey and Karaoke service that specializes in: Weddings, Corporate Functions, Sweet Sixteen's, & Birthday Parties. Thompson Entertainment travels to venues up to 200 miles from their office located in Canton, Ohio (Postal Code: 44708). While Thompson Entertainment specializes in certain types of events, we are not limited to performing at these types of events. Our DJ/MC's are available for any event that requires professional sound & entertainment.

For bookings, Thompson Entertainment requires a $100.00 retainer (down payment) and also requires a signed event booking agreement. Our entire booking process is designed to be simple and convenient for all of our clients. Account balances are due two weeks prior to the scheduled event date. Thompson Entertainment offers a popular EZ Payment Plan with no arrangements required in advance (send as you wish). Thompson Entertainment never charges for setup or teardown times. Our customers pay for the time that they are receiving entertainment. 35,000 songs and over 10,000 Karaoke songs are available at your Wedding.

Do you have liability insurance?
Describe your DJ style:
We take pride in personalizing each event to suit the taste of the Bride and Groom as well as their guests, while at the same time exceeding their expectations. During the event planning process, our friendly staff will suggest a DJ/MC that suits the Bride and Grooms tastes best. Our DJ's range in low-key/formal DJ's to High-Energy DJ's with Motivators.
Is there a limit to the amount of music that can be requested?
Clients can use our online planning tools (provided at no charge) to create and add up to 300 song requests sorted by Must Play, Do Not Play, Play if Possible, Play Only if Requested and Dedications. Based on our experience and to ensure most or all of the songs are played from the playlist we recommend a maximum of 100 song requests, however clients are welcome to utilize the 300 song limit. In addition to the client's request list, guests will have a unique username/password where they can also request songs in advance from our website that the client will be able to promote on their Invitations (optional). Because the client's music list (also referred to as the master music list) is confidential, guests are not able to access the master list, however the client may access and/or modify the guest request at any time. Clients who do not have access to the internet may mail in a handwritten music list for submission to the assigned DJ/MC.
What is your usual attire?
Clients may choose the attire of their DJ. For Weddings, Anniversaries and Proms we recommend a full tuxedo which consists of a Jacket, Tie, Vest, Shirt and Slacks. We are careful to dress properly for the event without over-dressing the guests or most importantly the bride and/or groom.
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
We love this question. What makes our service so unique is our DJ's are trained to acquire any song requested by the client prior to the event not already in our music library (very rare). The bride and groom have contracted us as DJ's under the expectation that we have their songs. When it's neccasary to acquire songs for an event, clients are not charged and are not expected to provide us with the needed music.
How many other DJs do you work with?
We currently employ several DJ's that are trained to perform in the same manner as Head DJ/MC at Thompson Entertainment: LJ the DJ. LJ's Wedding Style has become very popular throughout Ohio thus employing and training additional DJ's to perform the same-style has allowed us to reach out and satisfy more clients throughout Ohio.
What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
Because we are full-time professional DJ's and offer complete flexibility with our clients there are not any minimums. When you book our DJ, you have the DJ booked for the entire day/evening. If at any time you want your DJ to start earlier or play over (Overtime) simply contact our office or the DJ directly. Overtime charges may apply depending on the package you have selected.
Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
The couple is able to meet with their DJ prior to booking our services and also prior to the actual Reception date at our comfortable Canton South office setting. An unlimited number of in-office consultations is included with every contract at no additional cost. We also offer the convenience of planning the event details from our website 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. DJ's are also available to meet with clients at an establishment of their choosing including but limited to their residence, a coffee shop or a favorite restaurant. A small fee may apply for meeting locations exceeding 40 miles from our Canton, Ohio office.
Do you specialize in any ethnic or international events?
Currently we do not offer services for International or Ethic events.
Can the client submit a do-not-play list?
YES! Should the client have songs they do not want played at their event we are happy to respect their wishes without further question. Songs can be specified as "Do Not Play" via our Online Request System from our website or by simply notifying the DJ or a customer service representative whom will be happy to add the song as a "Do Not Play" on behalf of the client. Even if requested by a guest at the event, songs on the Do Not Play list will not be "overlooked" and will not be played.
Do you bring your own equipment?
YES! We provide all our own equipment needed for the event including extension cords, power packs and covers to hide the wires and prevent accidents.
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
Currently we offer two types of light shows (subject to availability) at no cost to the client depending on their preference and the space allowed for setup at the Venue. Your DJ/MC can discuss with you which light show would best work for your event based on the venue and number of guests expected at your event. Due to risk of medical conditions our light shows do not/will not include any type of strobes.
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?
Depending on the equipment being used for your Wedding. For a basic audio system with no lights or special effects atleast 2 hours prior to the start time is required. For events requiring additional sound systems, light shows or special effects we may require up to 5 hours of setup time. We can pre-arrange this with the venue. Clients are never charged for the setup or teardown of our equipment. Setup times also include ample time to replace cables/wires/bulbs if required prior to the start of your event.
Do you have any extra space requirements?
Depending on the package selected by the client (light shows, video screens, additional speakers, extra sound systems, etc) additional setup space may be needed. This can be discussed with your DJ/MC to reach an agreement. This can be coordinated directly with the Venue staff by our DJ/MC if the client desires at no additional charge.
Do you have a sign or banner that you use at events?
All of our setups consist of a 3' x 3' aluminum sign that displays our logo, name and phone number, not only as an advertising technique but also to hide cables and wires connected to the control booth. Clients who do not wish for our sign to be displayed during their event may choose a "black cloth" in it's place or the client may use their own decor/signage (i.e. themed parties / events, name banners, etc) at no charge.
Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
YES! Your Thompson Entertainment DJ will handle all announcements at your Wedding Reception and will walk you and your guests throughout the evenings events while maintaining contact with other vendors that are present at your event. Any announcements that you need made may be directed to the DJ/MC (no prior notice required) or you may use one of our wireless microphones to make an announcement.
How would you motivate the crowd if no one is dancing?
We offer a very nice assortment of Party Props to motivate your guests including: Limbo Kits, Y.M.C.A. Hats, Inflatable Musical Instruments, Maracas, Tambourines, Afro Wigs and much more. All of the props are available for your event at no additional charge upon request only.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
Unlike a Band, our DJ takes no breaks. However, we do ask that a meal is provided for Thompson Entertainment staff, if meals are being served. The maximum number of staff members present at each event is two (2) staff per event. Our staff members have no special diets.
Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?
Unlike a Live Band, we do not require meal, drink or restroom breaks. You receive non-stop music at your event from our Professional Staff.
What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
In the event of an emergency situation or act of god, backup DJ's and backup equipment will always be available.
Do you book yourself for more than one event in a day?
We are careful when assigning our staff thus we are also careful in accidently overbooking ourselves and loss of availability. To date, Thompson Entertainment has had no issues with "overbooking" ourselves.
What is your overtime rate?
Please check your contract. Your overtime rate is billed in 1/2 hour increments and you will be charged 50% of your contracted hourly rate for each additional 1/2 hour that you request our DJ to stay beyond the agreed upon performance times. Overtime charges can be paid at the time of service or charged to a credit card on file at our office.
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
No travel fees for venues up to 60 miles one-way from our Canton, Ohio (Zip: 44707) office. For venues exceeding 60 miles (one-way) please contact our office for an exact quote.
What is the required deposit to secure your services?
We require a $100 deposit/retainer which is applied towards the total price. The deposit can be paid via Mail, Telephone, Online or In-Person whichever is most comfortable for the client. The final balance is due two weeks prior to the scheduled event date. We do not offer a convenient EZ Payment Plan for our clients which is obligation-free and allows our clients to take as many payments as needed to pay off their balance. Upon submission of the deposit/retainer a legal event booking agreement is provided (emailed, mailed or faxed) to the client to secure the booking and prevent "sudden change in price" or "overbookings".
