Three Sisters Flowers is owned by Susan Kelly.

Susan has been in the flower business since she was 16 years old, when she got her first after school job. She has been fortunate to work with some of the best floral designers in the business including a stint at the flower shop at Walt Disney World in Orlando doing floral design for the hotels, events and weddings. Susan majored in Ornamental Horticulture.

Susan learned much from each of her mentors and then went on to a career in fashion. Susan’s younger sister, Wendy, asked her to create her wedding flowers in 2000 which led to many requests for her floral designs from the guests at that wedding. Three Sisters Flowers was born.

Susan finds her inspiration from nature. She prides herself on finding the best resources for high quality flowers and supplies. Her artistic philosophy is one of abundance and natural beauty. She stays up on the latest trends and collects books on past trends. She loves to combine old and new to create a sense of updated tradition. Susan also researches the language of flowers and will let you know the meaning of your own bouquet. Susan personally loves fragrant flowers – her favorite is tuberose.

At Three Sisters Flowers we set ourselves apart by being involved in every detail and being completely hands on with your wedding. We only accept one to two weddings a weekend so we can personally be involved in every aspect. We serve the entire Bay Area.

Susan is also a wedding coordinator and is happy to assist in any aspect of your special day. She has a great network of event professionals.

We have been designing flowers for more than twenty years and feel so lucky to be able to share our passion for beautiful flowers and design with you, your family and friends to enhance the important events in your life.

And yes, there really are three sisters - Susan, Wendy, and Beth! Read less

I was so lucky to have found Three Sisters Flowers. My (now) husband and I decided to plan a wedding in 3 months and since he is Indian there was a lot of pressure from family members to hire Indian vendors for everything. But I had other ideas in mind and when I found Three Sisters I knew their style was what I wanted. I just had to make sure I could get jai malas (marigold garlands) for the Indian ceremony.

I met with Susan and went over everything I wanted for the day and it turned out she knew a good deal about Indian weddings. She even had some beautiful bowls from India already purchased to use for the reception centerpieces. After our first meeting she sent me a contract with photos of all the flowers I wanted to use, describing exactly what would be done and where it would go. -This is very important- I've learned that when you are working with vendors for any event, it must be crystal clear what they are going to do, where things will go, exactly how much everything will cost, etc. Susan was completely on top of everything...she's also an event coordinator.

Looking back I should have hired her as our wedding coordinator (we didn't have one and did everything ourselves). It would have been worth every penny. Seriously look into this as it will save you a great deal of stress/anxiety and time you don't have. I would never plan an important event by myself again...there are so many details you don't even realize need to be handled. Le sigh.

Anyway, the flowers exceeded my expectations...the bridal bouquet was incredibly beautiful, the centerpieces were better than I had imagined and the jai malas were perfect. I'd seen some before at other Indian weddings but ours blew those out of the water...so beautiful and detailed. In fact everything Susan made had all these lovely details that I wouldn't have even thought to ask for. Our families & guests made it a point to tell us how gorgeous the flowers were. We couldn't have asked for a better florist.

Susan is is very calm, professional and has a great eye for detail. I met with numerous florists and none of them made me feel the way Susan did, she is very warm and comforting. Exactly what you need when planning a wedding!

I got married September 10, 2011 and I met with Susan about 9 months before. My fiance and I went over our vision and types of flowers that we were wanting and thought we were ahead in planning. Until about 1 month out, I totally changed my mind and wanted more texture and more of a natural look. When I contacted Susan I was nervous beacuse of the time frame and once again she was so calm. I emailed her photos and we had one more meeting before our wedding. At the end of our meeting it was like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. She knew exactly what we wanted!

Susan and her niece delivered my bouquet to my room and it was STUNNING!!! I hate roses and unfortunatley it was about the only flower available to me in September. I chose to go with the David Ausin Rose and the Cafe Au Lait Dahlia and this was a beautiful combination.

My DOC walked us into our reception site and it was absolutely BREATHTAKING!!!! Our vision came out in her work and people are still talking about how gorgeous our flowers were.

You will not be dissapointed with Susan or her work, she is amazing!!!

Three words of advice if you’re looking for a wedding florist: Work With Susan! Susan did the flowers for our wedding on 8/28/10 and I couldn’t have been more pleased with the results. The flowers were, simply put, GORGEOUS! But, what I particularly appreciated about Susan was that she really listens to her clients. She initially encouraged me to pick a theme, which over time became that of an English garden. But the execution wasn’t at all heavy-handed—this theme merely set the stage for the mood that she knew she would have to conjure for the evening. Our colors were taupe/gray and light rose, and she scoured the markets to find the perfect taupe rose for my bouquet, with just a touch of pink and not at all peachy. For the tables, she incorporated brighter pinks (roses and dahlias) and chocolate cosmos to bring some color to the dining room. The effect was muted tones and pure elegance. Finally, it was her idea to tie the whole thing together with a very creative welcome table “arrangement”, which was two long window boxes blooming with all the flowers of an English garden. In these, she used both greenhouse roses, and flowers from her own garden (including grasses and mint) to create a completely natural look.

In summary, I felt that Susan encouraged me to focus my ideas, and then listened! In the execution, she really shone. She brought my vision to life, but kept it simple, elegant, and sophisticated, which I feel really speaks to her artistry. Aside from being a successful florist, Susan is also an incredibly warm and receptive person. I hope that I will have an excuse to work with her again in the future!

I would recommend Susan and Three Sisters to anyone.

My wedding day was one of -- if not the -- best day of my life and that is in large part due to Susan and Three Sisters. I'm a worrier and I was worried that I would be worried (yes, I know) on my wedding day. I wasn't. Susan was there and I could transfer all my worries to her. I was just enjoying each and every moment. It was spectacular. She anticipated needs before they were articulated and fulfilled them before they were articulated. And it was a sheer pleasure to share my wedding day with her.

But that's just one part of it.

Susan had a bit of a challenge regarding our flowers. Well, three actually, all of which she met gracefully and beautifully.

First, we had a Jewish wedding including a wedding canopy -- but this canopy was going to become our bedspread so it was huge and heavy. And it was going to be carried in my friends and placed in stands. No problem for Susan. She picked it up at our quilters, went to Home Depot and in the end it was beautiful and sturdy.

Second, our ceremony was in a room that was lovely but kind of cold. And we were having a very warm wedding so Susan had to warm up this large, mostly white space. She did. So many of our guests were taking photos of our flowers, we thought they'd forget to take photos of each other.

Third, our wedding party included three little boys, one of whom was an infant. Not a problem. She helped them with the boutonnires and during the photos when the baby grabbed the groom's and tried to eat it, she lovingly and quickly took it out of the baby's hands -- and mouth -- and replaced it.

And a fourth challenge, a tight budget. No problem for Susan.

And Susan went above and beyond, helping my mother-in-law from Boston get potted plants for our San Francisco picnic-themed rehearsal dinner.

But equally important was the process of working with Susan. She listened to us. She met our families and came into our home, including joining us for breakfast one day before work. We met her family and she welcomed us into her home. Susan came to feel like a dear friend who was attending our wedding and who happened to have a great knack for planning and flowers and was helping us out. She brought beauty -- physical, emotional and spiritual.

Thanks Susan.

Of all the vendors I used at my wedding, Susan's company was the one I instinctively knew I didn't need to worry about one bit. She was organized, clear, responsive, prompt, reliable and affordable.

But as with any vendor, that's only part of the story, and when considering something as personal and central to a wedding as flowers and decor, you need to be sure you have someone with the creativity and vision to develop something very special. Once I understood Susan's depth of knowledge and experience in floral design and decor, I put very loose constraints on her as she came up with concepts for my winter wedding in an old mansion: white-on-white flowers, greenery of the dusty variety, not bright or evergreen, and a lush, vintage feel to the entire event.

The work Susan provided based on just these parameters was breathtaking. She merged texture and shades perfectly, spread votive candles throughout the reception to enhance the warm, romantic ambiance of the event, and went so far as to emphasize the use of flowers popular in the 1930's, which was the era that inspired our event. For the money we spent, I truly felt that our wedding was awash in nature -- glorious, soft and deeply sentimental.

I would urge anyone who wants a florist they can trust, who will create a unique look and feel based on your wedding design and choices, to rush to meet with Susan and Three Sisters Flowers. A+++

I loved, loved, loved working with Susan at Three Sisters! She truly did a fabulous job with my wedding bouquets and center-pieces. She even made an adorable, little headband with fresh flowers for my flower girl! She immediately seemed to get what I had in mind and captured the tone of the day beautifully! My wedding was almost two years ago, and I STILL receive compliments on my table arrangements from my guests. Three Sisters does beautiful work!
