We have every type of character/personality Disc Jockey. We match the DJs talent and personality with your taste desires and preferences.
Is there a limit to the amount of music that can be requested?
The length of time for your event will determine the number of songs that we can play.
What is your usual attire?
Our gentleman wear Tuxedos for weddings and formal affairs. You let us know what you want the DJ to wear and we accomodate that!
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
We have well over a million songs in our library. We usually have all of the music requested. However, if we do not have something, we make every effort to obtain it so you don't have to.
How many other DJs do you work with?
We have 29 Disc Jockeys on staff.
What is the minimum amount of time you will DJ for?
Our Disc Jockeys will perform for any amount of time needed and hired for.
Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
Each client has a personal music consultation with the owner Tom Gavin. You'll discuss your desires and musical needs to determine which of our many talented DJs is right for you.
Do you specialize in any ethnic or international events?
We're familiar with different traditions and have performed for all religious and cultural events.
Can the client submit a do-not-play list?
ABSOLUTELY! Our interactive website allows you to create and submit your list online.
Do you bring your own equipment?
We always bring our own equipment.
What (if any) special equipment, such as disco balls or lighting, is offered with your service?
We do have special equipment such as fog machines, laser lights shows, video screens, and prizes, etc...
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?
We do ask that the site provide a table for the DJ. We usually arrive an hour prior to the event. Sometimes earlier than that depending on the location.
Do you have any extra space requirements?
Only if you've selected a lighting package or karaoke. Both of these services would require additional space for set up and management of the equipment.
Do you have a sign or banner that you use at events?
We do not display or advertise at a customer's event.
Do you usually emcee the event or talk between songs?
All of our Disc Jockeys are experienced and will emcee the events. How much of their involvement depends on your desire/preference. We will be as involved as you want us to be.
How would you motivate the crowd if no one is dancing?
Our process varies for each event There is not a standard procedure or plan.
What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?
This is completely up to you. We do not require or ask for our DJs to be fed at your event.
Will you arrange for recorded music to play during your breaks?
Absolutely!
What is your backup plan in case you become unavailable on the day of the event?
We always have a "stand by guy" on call each day events are in progress. Additionally, the owner, Tom Gavin makes himself available in the event something goes wrong.
Do you book yourself for more than one event in a day?
We have over two dozen DJs on staff. We can manage multiple events in a single day. We do keep a few DJs "on call" in case they're ever needed.
What is your overtime rate?
This often depends on the event. Call us for more details on discounts or special offers.
Do you charge for travel expenses? If yes, how much do you charge?
No travel is ever charged to you by Tom Gavin's DJ Delights.
What is the required deposit to secure your services?
A 25% deposit is required to reserve your DJ and guarantee your date.

Can't say enough great things about Tom! He was VERY enthusiastic from the beginning and had some great ideas on how to make sure everything went smoothly on our wedding day. We really wanted string lights over the dance floor and he took care of everything. He was prompt with responses and worked to keep me calm when we got close to the big day. At the reception, he understood our musical tastes exactly and I felt like I didn't get to talk to anyone because I was so busy running to the dance floor!

I would highly recommend DJ Delights!! Their website allows you to identify all the music you want to be played at your wedding, along with a list of songs you do not want played. They are easy to get in touch with, and always return phone calls the same day. Such a pleasure to work with!

Tom Gavin DJ Delights did an outstanding job for our wedding on Jan. 17, 2014. I was impressed that he came to our house for our appointment to meet with us. After signing the contract, you could go on the website to look up any song ( by title, song writer, or genre) and put it on a list of the top 15 songs you wanted to be played. There was also a list of songs that you could request not be played. It was all calculated by minutes so you knew how much time you had as far as music went. Tom was very enthusiastic, friendly, and kindly acted as the master of ceremonies in which he did a fantastic job! I would highly recommend Tom Gavin's DJ Delights to anyone hosting a party or event.

My musician for my ceremony backed out with less than 2 days notice and Tom not only provided the emcee (him) and his dj, but Tom did my ceremony in a courtyard at our hotel. He told me not to worry, had all my music, the mics for the officiant and my readers. Took a load off worry off my mind. The party was the best part. Thank you Tom and Jessie. Will recommend highly.

I worked with Tom when he was still a radio executive. My DJ cancelled on me the week of my wedding. Since he was a friend of the family he wasn't charging me. My budget was empty and I only had less than 200.00 to spend on music. Tom sent one of his top people and told me to give the dj the money I had left for music. He wanted nothing. That's how long we've known each other and what a true friend and awesome person he is. My party rocked and the guests all remarked what great style DJ Delights was. Tom came to my rescue and wanted nothing in return. He saved my day.

Tom and I worked in radio when he was just getting started. That's how long I've known him. When I had a major issue with the friend who was doing my wedding as a gift, I called Tom. I was late getting my ceremony music into Tom and he got to my venue over 2 hours early to meet one of my bridesmaids and put it all together. Then they set up separate equipment out on the beach. The party after was fantastic. They were great and were very patient dealing with a very frantic bride... me. Would recommend highly.

The party was amazing. Tom and his assistant provided half the energy and I had over 120 guests. We were at a bed and breakfast resort and had booked all the rooms but still no one wanted to stop dancing. My ceremony on the beach was perfect as well. They brought a second set of equipment and got there early so my 3 soloists could practice before guests arrive. You rocked DJ Delights.

DJ Delights provided the music as well as our beautiful uplighting. Their colors perfectly matched mine and once the dancing started their dance floor lights kicked in and that made their energy, their emcee and the music even hotter. I wanted a party/night club feel the last 2 hours but a classy dinner party style the first 2 hours. I got it from them and then some. Tom lived up to his reputation and then some. Jessie was great at always answering my calls and e mails the same day.

These guys were great. We struggled with getting the ceremony performed on the water due to rain. They set up outside, then tore down when it poured, then set up again once the storm past. We could not have the dancing on the outside deck due to cool temperatures so they brought another sound system into the resort's dining room. And the party was great. My friends are still talking about how great a time we had. DJ Delights
had a lot to do with it. Thanks to DJ Angelo and of course Tom and his inside team. Great customer service.

Our party ran overtime. About 30 minutes. Tom's DJ stayed. Didn't charge us. Said he was having fun. It certainly looked like he enjoyed what he did for a living. My guests all stayed till the end. Well, except for the old old ones. They kept telling me how great the music was. How it flowed much like a club. DJ Delights website was easy to configure. Other dj's were not. Some didn't even have web sites. I will refer them as we were 'delighted' at the results.

Our dj cancelled on us. He had made a mistake and overbooked himself. I called my venue in a panic. They called Tom. Received a call back from him in 2 minutes. 2 minutes! He did not dissapoint. He immediately told me he could help me. Even gave me a discount. His dj was fabulous. My guests danced and stayed ... my biggest fear that everyone would leave. We got married on a weekday. My venue was cheaper. I was able to invite more guests than I could on a saturday night. DJ Delights has a 'weekday discount' I saved almost a third of their cost. Neither my venue or DJ Delights let me down! We had a great time. Tom and his assistant managed the night. Tom even dressed up with some of my photo booth props and walked through the party promoting the booth in the next room. Dj Delights were great. Very happy couple.

Tom Gavin's DJ Delights responded with the following comments:

We are disappointed with the above review and will take this opportunity to address it respectfully.

In reviewing the contract that Jessica signed with us, and after discussing a previous wedding success that we had in the same location with a similar number of guests, we all agreed on the game plan for what sound requirements would make this day a success.

Additional telephone meetings after our face to face visits prior to and the week of her wedding revealed her count had significantly increased, while our package to her remained as is. In other words, we did not raise her rates.

Instead, it was our suggestion that we run with our original plan that we all agreed on ... again, given our history of success at the venue and make changes and adjustments at the event if we all felt it was necessary.

Once the reception was underway, there was concern from the bride whether all guests could hear all our sound. DJ Delights immediately upgraded the sound package from what was discussed and purchased to an upper level of service to accommodate these concerns. 150 feet of additional speaker line was added, as well as additional speakers to overcome the limitations that the client felt were needed.

This upgrade was done at no additional charge. Efforts to reach Jessica after the event so far have met with no return calls. My suggestion was a 3, 4 way conference call or an in person face to face visit to resolve the matter, even if it mean making an adjustment to settle these differences of opinion and service levels.

We strive for over the top customer service, and will do everything we can before, during and after to achieve a positive outcome for our clients.

My wife and I put this wedding together in a short period of time. Our bed and breakfast venue recommened DJ Delights. They were prompt, helpful and fun to work with. We had a friend booked for this and he called a week before and said we would have to rent him a computer as his wasn't working. WTF! For a wedding? Really? The hotel referred DJ Delights and the same day I called Tom was at my house that night. Amazing response time. Plus my husband is from Boston (Tom is) and they connected before Tom got in my front door.
Tom's dj was as service oriented as Tom was. He picked the perfect ceremony music as I know nothing about classical. Provided a mike for my minister AND my reader and even got my sisters up to dance at the party ... think the dj's name was Rob. I would strongly recommend DJ Delights ... I was freaking out the week of my wedding. Jessie, Tom and I think Rob (sorry if I'm wrong, too many merlots) were the answer to my prayers. The hotel ... Marriott was great to tell us to call them.

My reception was held at my sister's house. DJ Delights sent 2 people. One to 'dj' and the other to act as a co ordinator. That was cool. It also was extremely helpful as the volunteers my sister recruited from the neighborhood, were not very helpful. We danced, partied and they got all the wedding stuff done when they were supposed to. I hardly remember anything but my friends are still talking about what a great party it was.

Our DJ was probably one of our favorite aspects of the wedding reception. Our wedding coordinator was certain that we wouldn't have many dancers - so glad he was wrong. And it really all had to do with our DJ. We asked that he stay mostly with 80s and 90s music, which our guests loved. The DJ really listened, was professional, and didn't try to insert himself too much into the reception. The online form made the music requests easy and I loved that we got a CD at the end of the night. I have nothing but good things to say about DJ Delights!

My husband gave Tom a hard time about how many songs he could pick. Tom, who over the life of the planning became a friend more than just another vendor went out of his way to accomadate us. And during the party, when no one was dancing ... to my husbands music choices (Tom told us that might happen) I went to him and told him to save my reception. Within a few minutes my dance floor was full and my friends were smiling.

DJ Delights was one of the easiest people we dealt with. The website, Jessie, Millie and of course Tom. He later joked that my bridesmaids were his 'secret weapon' and made him look good. They were not the cheapest nor the most expensive but I would definitely use them again.

We had a small intimate wedding. Tom was great to work with. His staff helped my fiance and I with some creative ideas as to how to keep less than 100 guests interested and involved. Besides him, his support team and the actual DJ were equals to Tom. They visited us in our home, making it convenient and easy. No one else I called offered. I'd recommend them to anyone. My guests danced much more than I ever imagined.

We had a wedding at a shore home. 180 guests. Planned to get married on the water, with the reception under a large tent. The weather and wet grounds forced us to use the tent for both the ceremony and the reception. Tom Gavin's DJ Delights could not have been nicer! They were flexible, friendly and very understanding of the conditions we were fighting. They're music was fresh, fun and lively. My guests danced, I danced, and their personality everytime they made an announcement made whatever they were annoucing sound fun to my guests. All my songs were played and they worked perfectly with both my planner and caterer. For the money you can get a better value.

OMG! Did my guests dance! Tom's team (he brought 2 dj's with him) had my party so off the hook we had guests from an ipod wedding in the next ballroom asking if they could dance in our's. In fact, it was Tom who first spotted the 'Wedding Crashers' and asked me if it was ok to let them in. He wanted to do a 'bit' on my video by showing how memorable my wedding was that strangers wanted to come! He was great! At first I was worried that DJ Delights was a few hundred dollars more than a friend of mine from work that offered to do it ... but once the wedding was over, so many of my guests called to say what a great time they had. How can you put a dollar price on that? Before the day Tom and his support staff helped me navigate through their website as I was all thumbs. DJ DELIGHTS made the difference! IF you are concerned what your guests are thinking when they leave, hire DJ DELIGHTS ... MINE didn't want to go home! Thank you Tom!

In fact, Tom went out of his way to recommend 2 photographers. One, I actually did choose. The music 'balance' as Tom kept calling it was perfect. Saw DJ Delights at a Bridal Show in DC in the spring. Tom was one of the only vendors in the whole show who actually said something interesting when we walked by the booth. We hired them. Great decision! While Tom was booked that day he personally selected another dj from his team (also named Tom) and this guy rocked our crowd! Tom (Tom Gavin) met with us twice, helped us select our music and gave us not one but TWO confirmation calls the week of the wedding. As I said the day of the event, this reception went as close to perfect as one could ever dream. Extra Touch that they surprised us with! Our cocktail hour was actually out in a patio are. Without telling us DJ Delights set up a small, separate sound system for cocktail music and the best part was ASKED FOR NOTHING in return! Wonderful organization and I would highly recommend them. My wedding dj was good. They provided music for our ceremony and reception. We were contacted about 3 weeks prior our event as a friendly reminder that we still hadn't completed our playlist. I found them to be easy to deal with...Both my husband and I work ALOT so our free time was minimal. We knew what we had to do and knew what kind of day we wanted. Our music list was submitted in time. Our wedding day was great! We had no issues! We wanted a fun wedding with good music, and that's what we received. DJ Delights provided the entertainment at our wedding. They lived up to their slogan ... we deliver fun. They were! My guests loved their emcee. Eric. Great dj, and also a great communicator. My uncle (who doesn't like anybody) found Eric interesting and very musically educated. The timeline ran perfectly and my guests danced as if it was the last party they were ever going to. Tom Gavin personally handled the details months prior to the wedding including 2 housecalls. He came to us! omg! No one else does that. Tom even showed up the night of the wedding to help Eric line up the bridal party and stayed through dinner. I know people that read this may find this hard to believe from a wedding vendor. My mother had used Tom Gavin's DJ Delights for her 2nd wedding so I had already had seen what they could do both at the wedding and behind the scenes. They were even better the 2nd time my family hired them. Tom came to the house and then answered each and every call I made to his office within minutes of placing it. I cannot say that about my other vendors. The music 'balance' as Tom calls it was perfect ... except and Tom warned us in advance ... except for the last hour ... when all hell broke loose with the fun! The party was off the charts and as Tom describes it ... DJ Delights was chasing our crowd, instead of our crowd chasing DJ Delights. The hotel even was impressed as they did nothing beyond the food and beverage plans. Tom and his team managed, emceed, and provided everything possible for an experience that my guests have gone home and told 5 of their friends what a memorable time they had. Very pleased with the outcome start to finish with DJ Delights. Thank you Tom!

We did an exhaustive search to find the right combination for the entertainment at our wedding. DJ DELIGHTS more than delivered on their promises. 2 DJ's 2 sound systems ... 1 for our ceremony in the courtyard complete with wireless mics for my minister and my husband and I. The reception was AWESOME as Tom kept telling me it would be. Tom supplied 2 dj's plus HE emceed the major portion of our reception. His energy and great voice made my party literally come alive with the FUN that his ads and voicemails talk about. We're just now getting around to writing these reviews and my guests are STILL calling me telling me what a great time they had at our wedding. You have no idea how great a feeling that is. We cannot begin to thank Tom Gavin enough for the services provided for our wedding. I spoke with Tom about a month or so prior to our wedding to be sure he would have our "First Dance" song ("When You Got a Good Thing" by Lady Antebellum - or Lady Pepto Bismol as he called it!) and each time we were in contact, he knew exactly what we had discussed previously and would even mention things I had forgotten about. We even had to call a day before the wedding to be sure something would be taken care of for my entrance song and he had already thought about the same thing and assured us that he had it under control. By all means, if you are having a Martins event, you will not go wrong with utilizing Tom's services for either your ceremony music and/or reception music. Tom was awesome and he always seemed so peppy on the phone! :-)

My wife and I were very thankful to have DJ Tom Gavin for our wedding reception at the Governor Calvert House this past October (2009). I contacted quite few DJ’s initially, and Tom was the one who impressed me from the start with his enthusiasm and professionalism. From our first meeting, Dana and I could tell he was someone who really wanted to make sure our wedding reception was one to remember. This completely showed during the reception, and we could not have asked for a better experience! Everyone commented on how great the evening was, and the music was a huge part of that. In fact, many people commented on how much they enjoyed the music throughout the entire evening (from the cocktail hour, through the meal, and especially during the dancing). Tom did an amazing job in reading the crowd throughout the evening, adapting to what would keep everyone moving, all while making sure some special songs we requested were worked into the mix. Tom Gavin's DJ Delights provided a quality of service that will never be surpassed. Several years ago My wife and I were married and brought together two pre existing families. We were fortunate to have Tom Gavin as the Master of ceremonies at our reception. With five children between 7 and 10 years old he made this day as important to them as it was to us. He orchestrated the entire event and made it a calibration. His efforts put my wife and I so much at ease that we were allowed to enjoy the party along with the rest of the guests. Now several years have passed and just last month, Tom again provided his services and made my daughters wedding calibration, an occasion only for my little Cinderella.

I booked DJ Delights for my wedding because of Tom's promise of planning AND fun. We wanted to interview the DJ, pick the music, and set the time line for the day. Tom really took the time to show us how allowing his team to have some flexibility with our "must haves" would make for the right mix. He could not have been more accurate! Tom Gavin did a great job at my wedding. I gave him a specific list of songs requested by my husband for dinner and he played them and made very different songs sound like they flowed into each other very well.

I told him that I wanted people to dance the whole night and he made that happen. The dance floor was packed from the beginning of the night to the end of the night.

I got a ton of comments from guests that it was the best wedding they had ever been too and that we had a great DJ.

I would definitely recommend Tom Gavin.

I read several reviews about Tom and his staff on this site. Am writing now to say my experience was as close to perfect as I believe possible. Both Tom and his business manager Jessie were objective and I felt honest when I approached them about the flattering and the not so flattering reviews on Wedding Wire about DJ Delights. That impressed me. They didn't play 'the blame game'. They did offer 'the rest of the story' about several hard to believe negative reviews. Based on their handling of the conversation I believed them both and was glad we did. While we did not book them for my Ceremony, Tom's crew was in place in the adjacent ballroom, and when my musician was running late began setting up a portable second sound system to handle my prelude music needs ... then they didn't ask for any money! The party was a smash ... and while I did pick a fair amount of the music (Tom suggested this might be a bad idea) the dj worked his magic and my list throughout the night and my guests until the banquet hall all asked us to leave as we had run overtime.

My lasting impression about these blogs is that they seem to more often than not attract negative, almost mean spirited entries. Yes, there are some positive ones, but I felt strongly enough to let readers know these are good people who stayed in touch with me from my first inquiry through and including a follow up email and phone call one week after my wedding. My wedding day was extra special because of the Over The Top Effort from Tom, Jessie and the staff from Tom Gavin's DJ Delights.

These folks could not have been nicer, or given us more for our money.
Start to finish they were fun to work with, made my planning easy, answered all my questions with a great attitude ... even helped me find a REAL bakery to create my wedding cake.

Their web site is a dream to use. The dj fit right in with our crowd. While we gave Tom a long song list, I heard many of my favorites even though I was consciously entertaining a crowd of 200 guests!

The pricing structure was competitive and while they were not the lowest, they weren't the highest either. For what we received for the service from start to finish, we really felt we got more than we paid for.

If you're shopping for djs in the washington or baltimore area, you're doing yourself a disservice by not calling them.

We hired Tom Gavin's DJ Delights as they had also done my sister's wedding a number of years ago. Our experience then as it was this time was truly outstanding. My wedding was 6 times the size of my sisters. They were able to handle it ... very very well. This wedding was not in a banquet hall but at my father's home, under a very large tent. Their staff did a splendid job managing the entire evening. Our caterer simply took care of the food service, setting up the tables and chairs, and nothing beyond that. DJ Delights saved this event. They sent 2 people, one to simply manage the reception from my timeline instructions. That lady (can't remember her name) should be a full time wedding planner. She took charge in a very nice way, even to the point of keeping the groomsmen in line when it came to lining up a very rowdy bridal party who all had been drinking.
The dj, came prepared with 2 sound systems as my ceremony took place next to a pond about 300 yards away from the reception tent. The minister's microphone (something we had not thought of) worked just perfectly allowing the more than 400 guests to all be involved with the ceremony.

My husband and I left the party before it ended totally exhausted from having so much fun. We heard that the bash (it had no become one thanks to the dj's talent) ran more than an hour after we left.

Thank you Tom, Jessie, Millie, and Bossjock RJ as Tom called him (our dj) as this was a night that was as close to perfect as we ever expected greatly due to Tom Gavin's DJ Delights.

My sister had a 'destination wedding' and we had organized a surprise wedding reception for her and her husband. They sent 2 dj's ... one to play the music, and the 2nd one to organize and emcee our events. This was probably the life-saver of the party as the hall was no help. My guests arrived early and they started early. They also stayed later than we booked them, and offered to not charge us. The music was perfect. My guests danced, laughed, had fun, and many are still talking about the fun! Planning on using them again.

Tom himself did our wedding. He came highly recommended by our venue for his ability to work with the unique mansion layout. Tom did not disappoint! He was the perfect blend of talkative and quiet, depending on the moment. When my friends requested a song he wasn't sure we would like, he checked to make sure we didn't mind. He pronounced everyone's names right, which in my family is not easy! I liked the online database to select songs because we could work on it whenever we had time. Tom also recommended our minister to us, which was a wonderful decision because he was great too! The price couldn't be beat.

He was more than cooperative because he willingly sent me demo CDs of music to try out for my son & daughter to practice with for their solos and bought some music I specifically wanted played during our ceremony at no additional cost to me. Please don't misread this review. DJ Delights were great! Professionalism??? Yes and NO. "No" meaning THEY WERE FUN. Not stuffy. Upbeat. Great to work with. My guests stayed longer because of their 'Upbeat Attitude'. We kidded Tom all night because he grew up a Patriots fan. We were very pleased with DJ Delights. Jessie was our first contact and she walked me through how to use the website. She then arranged for Tom to meet us in our home. Periodically throughout the year that I planned this I would hear from Jessie by e mail and Tom from several real thank you notes. No other vendor we used went to these levels to make us feel so mentally comfortable. Their rate was one of the higher ones we we quoted, though Tom kept emphasizing that the 300.00 more they were they were able to add some extras. They added lighting. 2 DJ's were at my reception and they both stayed through the cake/garter time. Then 1 hosted the reception the rest of the night. Their music was perfect. It flowed in sets just as Jessie said it would. Tom's silly personality at times (he did not play the event, though he was there) kept my stress level low and I always knew both Jessie and Tom would be great sounding boards should I need them, which I did. More than just 'djs' as Tom always said. DJ Delights was the diamond in the rough vendor that I needed at times. Would strongly recommend them.

While there were issues with our venue, DJ Delights stepped in and helped manage the reception when the catering staff person sent a replacement who was not as experienced. We would have survived, but hardly anyone noticed the hotel's hiccups due to the DJ ... dj delights going above and beyond what we hired them for. They were very flexible. It turned out to be such a nice day the resort moved my ceremony from inside to their outside garden. We forgot to call Tom or his office. When they arrived ... they didn't let us down but set up a separate sound system including a mic for our minister all at the last minute for no additional charge. Their performance was as if they had known my guests forever they were so friendly. All our songs were played and Tom was right. What made Tom Gavin and his staff different from the rest of the groups we considered was that each time I spoke to Tom or his staff, they had another great idea, everytime for my wedding. And it did not always have to do with music. These are simply very giving, idea oriented, energetic people. The organizational skills of the dj the day of my wedding exceeded my expectation. The music selection was more than I could have ever created myself. The dj even purchased 2 songs from a subscription service Tom pays for while the party was in progress ... 2 songs that my maid of honor asked for at the reception but the dj did not have ... how cool was that! All I have to say is if you're planning an upscale wedding, seriously look at Tom Gavin and his staff. Their approach to business was unlike any other vendor I dealt with, plus Tom made every step of the way fun. His sense of humor eased my stress more than once, and his emails he sent me while always helpful and informative added a smile to my face more than once. The party was incredible. They had my guests dancing from the moment the lights were turned down until the last dance. While I feel a perfect score is hard to find ... the olympics for example, I want to give DJ Delights as close to a perfect one as I can. From the time I first spoke with Jessie via e mail, then over the phone I felt like she cared about ME first, then my wedding. When I found our later her previous career was in customer service (my field) I could see why. Later in the planning, Tom kept talking about perfect planning and perfect preparation which really got me excited. All the other dj's were telling me how great they were. Jessie and Tom emphasized what my guests would be talking about the day after my wedding. The day after I got voice mail after voice mail as we headed out to a cruise and came home to an in box of e mails raving about everything to do with the day. This organization really cares about the experience before and during the party ... and got a nice note from them following up a few weeks later. The music of course was important that day, but the presentation was just as polished.

Tom had 3 people assigned, so I felt like I had my own personal bridal maitre'd the whole day, while the banquet facility was no help at all. Tom's energy infected even my father, who is very set in his ways. His dj and assistant were most personable. As I said the only ripple was my schedule and his were in opposite directions each time I was available for our meeting, he was booked. Great value. Would use and recommend again.

Great service. Got more than we paid for. Our banquet hall gave us a separate room for our ceremony at the last minute and Tom and his team took care of the extra equipment so he didn't have to be rushing equipment from one end of the hotel floor to the other side where the reception was. And he didn't ask for any extra money. Very flexible, the party was fun and my guests left happy.

Tom and his entire team could not have pleased us more. Their website was easy, Tom personally visited me at my home ... my mother even loved him! Skip, our dj was even funnier than Tom was! His voice reminded you of the Geico guy voice you hear on the commericials. Deep and sexy. His articulation of some very difficult names was perfect and his music selection made my guests until the hall had to actually throw us out! Wonderful choice if you're looking for people that impressed me as being interested in their serice first, and the money last.

My biggest fear with my father after investing all this money in my wedding day was that a cheesy dj would ruin the party (dad wanted a band). Tom Gavin and DJ Delights impressed both my father as well as my guests. This company is terrific. Pleasant, enjoyable very detailed leading up to my wedding day ... day of ... WOW! Flexible, fun and for the outcome my guests enjoyed very very affordable. Am still getting calls saying what a great time guests had. Dad is sold. Hope these thoughts help Tom and his future customers. Dad actually liked Tom right away ... something about Red Sox, I forget exactly what. Can't recall more than 5 songs these guys played that night, only can recall what a fun, enjoyable party they helped create. Hope anyone that reads this considers them, we were very pleased.

I used DJ Delights for my wedding reception and can I just say that we partied like it was 1999! HA! Tom was good about organizing your music and putting together a list of music that you absolutely had to have played at your event - and all other songs were tailored around the type of music you chose. The dj that did my event was very professional and good about keeping people on the dance floor. Even my photographer got out there and cut a rug! It was great!

Tom Gavin gets it. He is awesome, but be sure you ask who will be your DJ and make it your business to hear his talent. We had a DJ who could not mix and he was playing slow songs. I believe this killed the reception spirit. DJ is the heartbeat of the reception. When you are asked to pick the playlist, they mean it litteraly. You must tell them song by song

Tom was very responsive and enthusiastic when I actually spoke to him because I could not get a hold of his representative after several days and started to freak out. I liked the simpleness of downloading some songs I would like to be played online along with the special songs such as wedding march and first dance. The thing I did not like was I could not speak to the actual DJ that was doing my event until he showed up to set up...not personal at all and it kind of scared me as to what was going to show up to my venue. The DJ that showed up...I cannot remember his name now, was very nice, a little different than I thought would show up though. I was also told he would be equipped with a 100 foot extension cord, which he was not...luckily, we had one he could use; however, that prevented us from being able to use it for lighting our tent when the sun set...which was an inconvenience. He also discussed some things about his family and such that were not that professional, but he was nice. Overall, if you are looking for a cheap dj and do not have a complicated playlist I would recommend. However, if you are picky and have a lot of different songs that must be played, I would not recommend. I do not know if they are up to the challenge.

We were married on 6.10.11 at Swan Harbor Farm. We had contacted and met with Tom back in the summer of 2010. He came to our house and met with us in person. We had told him that were unable to commit at the time, but he remained in the contact with us. I had some family issues going on at the time and he offered his help which was very nice. He had called a few times a month and emailed to just follow up and see where we were at on hiring a DJ and just to check up on us and my family issues. My husband really appreciated his efforts and said we should hire him. So we did. He assured us that he would be our DJ. After hiring him we did not communicate as much which is completely understandable. I spoke with his assistant and him via email when it was about 60 days away from the wedding to tie up last minute details. We were very suprised when the day of the wedding rolled around and TOM was NOT our DJ. A different gentelman was there and we had never met or heard of him before. Tom did say that if there was an emergency that a fill in would be sent. But we never received word that Tom was unable to make it. Luckily I was very specific and had a long playlist of songs to be played so it didnt really matter who DJ'd but I will say I was disappointed finding out that Tom was not going to be our DJ. But all in all the service was good, he was on time, the songs that needed to be played were played and the DJ was great to work with.

Tom Gavin's DJ Delights was recommended to us from a trusted friend, so we had high expectations! We were not disappointed. Tom is extremely responsive and wanted to make sure that our reception was FUN! They provided two people for the reception -- one Emcee and a DJ, which was more than we expected. Both of them were extremely professional and most importantly, recognized that it was OUR day and wanted to provide the environment that we wanted. When my mom thought the music was too loud, we asked them to turn it down and they did. When my dad thought there was "too much rap" they switched it up to some Motown classics. They were very accommodating and did a great job, working with the unique set up (behind a bar) of our reception location and went with the flow when there were some last minute changes that needed to be made.

The DJ at my wedding was okay. He wasn't able to keep the dance floor filled as promised, in fact it was pretty empty most of the night, but in his defense, I think everyone who was going to dance at the wedding danced and I think that the ones who didn't want to dance could not be moved out of their chairs no matter what he did. I was a little taken back when he double checked all of the music selections with me before each main event (introductions, first dances, cake cutting, etc) since I was already pulled in so many directions and had completed a form online with all of the information. But then again, it's better than accidentally playing the wrong music. I guess I would have preferred going over the list one time versus many times during the night. I had one very drunk guest that spent a lot of time flirting with the DJ and bragged to me that she was able to change my whole music request list. This quite didn't happen, but he definitely gave her a lot of attention during and after the wedding. Announcements were made late in the evening after they were requested to be made earilier, and because of this, many centerpieces were not taken home because guests already left. I ended up making some of the same announcements again later in the evening because he wasn't able to fully get the guests attention. However, he played all of my must - play songs and most of my "play if possible" list. He was able to fend off requests for songs that I didn't like (chicken dance, for example), and he definitely allowed me to be center stage without stealing attention. He was friendly and I think he did the best he could given my deadbeat friends. :-)

Tpm Gavin was very accessible during the booking process, and he was the ONLY vendor that came to my house to personally talk to me about the event. I really appreciated that since brides to so much running around. His site was easy to navigate and made it very easy to plan the wedding and request music that we like. We offered the DJ a real dinner, but bless his heart, I don't think he took it. Overall, I had a good time at the wedding, and I realize that I can't make other people have a good time if they want to just sit on the sidelines.

Overall we had a good experience with DJ Delight's. We loved Tom - he gave a great sales pitch, was very professional, and has a great DJ Voice. The price was also pretty good.

We did not have a problem setting up a meeting with him, like others have had, about 4 weeks before the event. He had indicated to us at that meeting that he would be at our event that night, at least for part of the night; however he was not there, at least when we were there, which was a bummer because we liked him. But our guy was decent.

The only major complaints is that he didn't explain the apron dance much so people who weren't familiiar with the tradition were confused; and he didn't announce last call upon the venue's request.

Also, our last dance song was intended to be a group dance, but he did it as a ceremonial bridge/groom dance. Not a big deal though, we probably just weren't clear enough in our explanation.

Overall though, the DJ service was good and we would recommend them.

I had a really hard time getting ahold of Tom Gavin from DJ Delights after I had booked them for my event. He did not respond to any of my calls or emails until a couple weeks before the event. I had contacted him early to find out how he wanted me to get him my music requests and he would not respond. Tom Gavin was supposed to be our DJ but an emergency made it so he was unable to be there. He let me know a few hours before the event, but already had two other people prepared to be there which was nice. We ended up having two DJs one for the ceremony music and one for the reception music. They were both excellent and well-prepared. The reception DJ decided to throw in his own impromptu blessing after we had said we weren't having a blessing as we are not religious. This was the only unprofessional aspect.

These folks are very persistent. But a pleasure to work with. I would recommend requesting to meet with the DJ they plan to schedule for your event to ensure that they understand your requests. Tom is friendly and tries to relate to his clients. He also is a good value and seems to have much experience in the field. Our wedding day went generally without a problem and our guests enjoyed the music he played (he did that part of his job very well!) but what stands out to me is that he took the wedding and ran away with it on several occasions. I understand that doing all the traditional cheesey wedding things is probably terribly redundant for the DJ and he is in his right to take artistic liberties with how it's dine, but as the clients we had outlined that we wanted certain things done and in a certain order. As an example he essentially ruined the mother/son dance because he didn't follow the time schedule that the wedding planner had set. At the time of the mother/son dance my husband stood in the middle of the dance floor waiting for his mom to join him but she was not in the reception room; she had gone to the restroom because, since he strayed from the schedule, when he did get around to the mother & father dances Tom had already decided to take it upon himself to open up the dance floor to guests. Tom then spoke over the mic and blamed the planner for the mistake. I thought that was very unprofessional since she was the one that had recommended him to me and they have a long history of working on events together. Other factors which affected my general feeling toward his professionalism: he double charged us for the remaining balance 2 weeks before the wedding (this eventually got resolved but show poor record-keeping) and he didn't play the songs we requested him to play on the online form he asked me to fill out in advance (which he later denied having received but he confirmed it a few weeks prior over the phone with me). Tom did call a few days after the wedding to apologize which was an admirable gesture and he also offered to do business with us again for a future events. However, I don't think we would like to do business again.

Working with Tom was wonderful. We picked him because he had a great voice and personality for a wedding DJ and MC. The web interface and music choices were easy to use, there were a few songs that they didnt have and we just gave a cd to Tom and he added it to our playlist. Tom also made sure he downloaded the Buffalo Bills "Shout" song which was very important.
at Noon on the day of my wedding Tom called to let me know he was having a health concern and would be late to my wedding. He assured me that a replacement was coming and everything would be fine. A replacement DJ did come and was our only DJ for the entire night. While he did a great job and I know everyone had fun it wasnt Tom.... I am glad everything went off without a hitch and we couldnt have asked for a more perfect wedding day. But the last thing you want on your wedding day is one of your vendors calling to cancel, after the wedding there was no apology or follow up in regards to the last minute change.

We went with this DJ because our Caterer recommended them and they were a great price. They did play the songs that we requested for all the special dances, but the rest of the time the music wasn't something either my husband or I would have listened to normally. When I filled out their form I requested that the kind of music they play be country and pop/rock. Some pop/rock was played, but generally only when someone requested it. Absolutely no country was played even though it too was requested by guests. For the second half of the reception the music was mostly polka, and not many people were dancing. I would only recommend this DJ service to people who really just want music played and don't care what kind.

The manager forgot about our meeting and was about 45 minutes late, which worried us a little bit at first. Then, we had asked him if it would be possible to play an excerpt from each song for each couple during the bridal party introductions. He said oh yeah, that won't be a problem at all. It will just take some planning. Then, he emailed 5 days before the wedding(after I purchased $40 worth of little props to go with the songs), to tell me that he didn't think they could do it and I might have to hire another member of their staff in order to pull it off.

Long story short, the DJ pulled it off and ended up doing an excellent job. Just a little added and unnecessary anxiety 5 days before the big day.

Played all of the songs we asked for (about 12) and other good ones.

The request to play portions of songs for each couple, is a fairly common practice and was widely popular this past wedding season. It's certainly do-able but takes very careful planning. Tom Gavin personally put the tracks together and prepared the DJ.
One week before the wedding date, we received an email from the couple now asking to introduce props into this plan AND she now wanted different parts and versions of all songs to be played.
Tom emailed the couple letting them know that with these additions and changes, their expectations may not be met. We even offered them the option to hire a coordinator from our staff to assist with managing this and other parts of the evening, to which they declined.
Tom reviewed all of the changes with the DJ and even absorbed the cost to have the DJ take on this coordinator role.
As shared by the bride, we did put their info together within the final 5 days and make everything work.
Our contracts clearly state that we cannot guarantee changes and requests submitted within two weeks of the date. However, we do make every effort to get it done, as we did in this case.
We are really unclear as to why she felt the rating of 3.2 was fair when we went above and beyond to accomplish everything she requested.

Although the DJ was fully prepped and prepared for this event, we had some challenges working with the director of the facility. This caused the reception to go in directions none of us anticipated or wanted.

The event did start off rocky, but was back on track before mid point, and finished up strong!

When Tom spoke to the couple about the evening’s events, they were very understanding. In fact, Tom’s exact words were “I am glad we could come to an agreeable solution…this bride is a real champ!”

We hope her or her family will allow us the opportunity to perform for them in the future.

I attended a friends wedding and their music was great. When I was planning my big day I decided to find out who their DJ was. Overall, my wedding went off without a hitch and all my guests had a blast dancing the night away. However, behind the scenes was a different story. It is extremely hard to get a hold of Tom. I would send emails and leave voice messages and I wouldn't hear back for a few days. We were also told that he and another DJ would be attending the wedding, but the day of Tom was no where to be found so I was left with someone whom I never met or spoke to before. I never received a phone call or email from Tom apologizing for not being there or any explaination what so ever. The lonely DJ that was left played the songs I wanted to have played and kept the party going but he had absolutely no personality!!

In addition, I added the lighting package, what a waste of money. The only lights I saw were four small floor lights that changed color. This offered nothing to overall look of the dance floor. When I spoke with Tom about the lighting he said that they had ligting that would be from above and below with spotlights that really made it feel like a party...this is not what I received.

Like I said, all my guests had a blast but I felt like I was suppose to get a lot more then what I received.

He showed up, and people were having a good time dancing, but the apron dance was done at the end of the night????? More than half of the guest had already left, so I didn't do too well on that. He also told my Mom she could not make a request, because I said not to accept any request. That was a lie!!! And even if that were true, HELLO that is my Mom.

It was O.K., but I would not recommend them.

I am so dissappointed in Tom Gavin! When we initially talked on the phone he was great & so willing to work with me on the price for what I wanted & needed. He came to our house and met with us and discussed everything we wanted - it seemed like he really understood what we wanted. Then it got closer to the wedding and we spoke again, this time it was because I paid the balance of my bill on their web portal & on the same date they charged the same amount to my mother's credit card. When I told Tom about it he said that he would speak to his accountant and have it taken care of. Still to this day - which has been about 3 weeks now, the money was never refunded & I have called several times and sent email with no response. Tom was suppose to be my dj at the wedding as well & when I got there, there was some other guy. The guy they sent was a pretty nice guy, but he didn't have a copy of my timeline & played songs that were on my do not play list. None of the stuff that happened at the wedding really bothered me, I understand that things happen & apparently Tom was sick. But my mom still doesn't have her money back & that is just unacceptable. I've now ended up paying double the amount that was agreed on & they don't seem to be getting back to me anytime soon! Maybe this review will spark their interest! Next will be legal action - my mom is unemployed because she got laid off - she can't afford giving someone over $500 for no reason!

Unfortunately, a simple return could not be processed, because of the nature of credit card processes, new security laws and privacy acts.

There were two different payments made to us, in two different names. It took a few days to get all of the investigation, contacts, and resolutions completed. We worked closely with each part of our Merchant Services Unit to ensure this was resolved as quickly as could be without any violations.

A COMPLETE REFUD FOR THE SECOND OVERPAYMENT WAS MADE to the customer. We take these matters very seriously and if this unfortunate confusing situation arises again, we will take the same thorough, detailed actions to resolve the matter.

While Tom Gavin was very nice and enthusiastic before the signing of the contract, his lack of response after was horrible. I emailed him a couple of different times and never got a response. I finally received a response once I started to complain in the email. He then apologized and offered to make it up to us, which he did. I thought that was great! He also told me that he would be in contact with us one week before the wedding. Well, 4 days before the wedding I still hadnt heard anything, so I texted him. he responded stating that they were still working "ironing out" the details for my wedding and he would let me know, really?? 4 days before the wedding!!! So 2 days before the wedding still hadnt heard anything, texted again. This time he told me who would be my DJ, this was good news :) So then I asked if this DJ would be contacting me, got no response. The day of the wedding, the DJ never introduced himself to my husband or myself, he also played the wrong introduction music for my bridal party. Also played the wrong introduction music for the bride and groom entrance. The DJ started playing our first dance song 1/2 way through our entrance, stopped the music and then played the wrong introduction song. This company was refered to me and at first I was excited, the reviews were good and good recommendations. However, I was not pleased AT ALL. Tom himself seemed very professional, enthusiastic about his job, and flexabile. Just make sure you get him specifically because the DJ I had was terrible!

This vendor was by far my most challenging to deal with. My husband initially met with them and all was great. Their website to select music was good as well. But as we got closer to the day, that is when it became challenging. We scheduled a phone meeting to discuss details of our needs, and we were never called. A follow up email to them said that it was a simple oversight, which is fine. But then, we struggled to set up another meeting. It was not until I sent a panicked email 4 days before the wedding that I got a response. I wanted to review names, and was told that the DJ would get them at the ceremony. Ok, fine, I guess. I also asked that the bridal party be invited to dance during our first song. I was told that would be fine, but it did not happen. In short, things did not go to my expectations because I dd not have the chance to have a conversation with the DJ beforehand. Simply put, they added unneeded stress to my day.

DJ Delights was recommended as a preferred vendor from our reception site. We met with Tom, at our house and he was great. We exchanged emails about our songs and everything was ok until we were a few days away from the wedding. My grandmother had recently passed away and as a result we had to change the entrance with my grandfather and we were told that we will make an exception, but we usually do not make changes within 2 weeks of the wedding as it adds confusion and does not give ample time to prepare. I was well aware of their requirements but a death in the family should be an exception. Also, when we met with Tom we asked to meet with our DJ for the evening, he told us it was him and he is the one that ALWAYS DJ's our venue since he is so familiar with it. We ended up finding out, the day before the wedding, that it was a different DJ. They apologized for the inconvenience, but said it was because they had another couple with our exact name getting married on the same day. When the DJ arrived he seemed unfamiliar with our requests, even though nothing other then adding my grandfather as an introduction had changed. At our reception, my sister-in-law requested shout (that was also on our MUST play list) he told her he did not think he would have the time to get to it. After they went back and forth for a bit she came over to me and asked if I could take care of it myself, I then had to take time out from socializing with my guests to ask he play the songs on our MUST play list - once those songs were played he was free to take requests from the crowd. The worst part of the night, was he forgot to play my dance with my step-father. He later added it into the reception, but it was so out of order and it was obvious it was forgotten. When I think back to my wedding day, this is the only thing that went wrong. So even though I feel we got a good deal, I guess you get what you pay for in the end.

Tom was helpful in the beginning and seemed very interested in us as a couple. In our first meeting with Tom, we were very impressed that the owner, who's name is on the marquis, would take time out of his schedule to meet with us. As he reassured us of our uncertainties and fears with DJ companies, we were confident with this act of professionalism that this was the caliber of service we would be receiving. However; as we later learned, this preliminary show did not accurately represent our experience as a whole.

During our wedding reception, our DJ seemed completely uninterested and just pressed a button to play each song - something we could have easily done ourselves. Our biggest disappointment was he only played 11 out of 20 songs on our "Must Play" list, played 7 out of 11 on our "Play if Possible" list and even played a song off of my "Do Not Play" list. We were under the assumption, our must plays MUST be played at the event and we had planned special dances for these songs. In addition, I had to ask him to play the anniversary dance (which I had requested with sufficient notice) and he got up in the middle to ask me what it was, announced it incorrectly, then re-started the song in the middle. I e-mailed Tom to express my disappointment after the event and received incredibly rude customer service and unprofessional insinuations from his staff. We still have not received any follow-up correspondence from Tom himself. I was told the DJ we were given was very highly requested and the best in their service. We were even told we should have made phone calls to Tom or reported to them in the middle of the event - which is an unreasonable and unprofessional request, given this was our wedding reception. We had been assured months and months in advance everything would be taken care of as we had discussed with Tom. Our DJ service has been the only complaint and negative comment from friends and family at the wedding.

If I could go back, I would have taken the reviews on this website to heart. Both good and bad experiences have been reported so if you are willing to take a risk - I would say their service is a good value for the budget. If you are not willing to take risks, please take my advice and steer clear from Tom Gavin's DJ Delights and the potential for disappointment and lack of professionalism.

Lisa, your concerns were addressed, in a very timely and professional manner. Your claims are a bit exaggerated and I would welcome you to call our office to discuss them further.
Your contract clearly states that our DJs reserve the right to choose music based on the crowd's reaction to ensure a successful party. If at any time you felt you didn't want the DJ to do that, you could have signed our music list waiver and we would have worked off the lists solely.
My suggestion for you to call us the evening of your event is in no way being RUDE...My point was that if everything was as bad as you've made it out to be, then a manager should have been notified immediately. Tom or myself would have visited your event to correct matters immediately. However, I think we all know there are somethings not accurately posted in your email to us and your blog here. I'll again invite you to call our office to discuss your concerns.

When my fiance and I first met with Tom Gavin's we were very excited he was pleasant and seemed excited to work with us for our wedding. We sent in our deposit, which they said they never received and constantly called to say they couldnt go forward until the check was received they, which they later found that they actually credited to another account. After that was solved, we began the process of using the companys online web page to list the songs we wanted to be played during the ceremony and during the reception. My husband and I love music and spent numerous days and hours selecting the songs that meant the most to us. The person that was actually going to be DJing the wedding called and we spoke several times he was very responsive and assured me he looked over everything and had all the songs we wanted played and that he had over 75,000 songs on his computer so if other songs were requested he could easily do that. We were very excited for our big day. Well the big day finally came, the ceremony went off without a hitch, the music being played during dinner was nice, but thats were the niceness ended. He messed up the song for my first dance with a close uncle, and once the reception started we realized he wasnt playing any of the songs we spent hours selecting, my new sister in law finally had to go up and ask him to start playing specific songs we selected. He played a few by the artists we liked but didnt play the specific songs and he just kept throwing in random songs like the electric slide (which we didnt want played at all). He was also very rude to our photographer and made a scene several times. Our wedding day was still beautiful our only flaw was this DJ company. I would not recommend using them for any event!!!!

We used this vendor for my daughter's wedding on Oct 17th, 2009. While Tom came and met with my daughter and her fieance and appeared to understand and be enthusiastic about what they wanted, once they had selected him and we hand paid the deposit it became very difficult to get a hold of him. My daughter would call many times to try and get a hold of him and he was very slow to respond. It was not until almost the day before the wedding that we found out for sure who the DJ would be She emailed Tom a list of the requested songs and we gave a copy of that same list to the DJ the day of the event however most of the songs requested where not played. My daughter and son in law were very specific they wanded a lively club atmosphere but the DJ we had barely said anything and certainly was not lively and trying to get people excited about dancing. At a couple of points members of the wedding party sang songs to the couple and unless you were standing by the dance floor and saw they were singing you would never know as the DJ made no announcement. All in all I feel like I paid a permium price for a second rate DJ and would never use them again nor recommend them to anyone else.

It is the practice of our office to respond to each review that does not meet a 4.0 rating. This one obviously falls far below that mark. Following is our response to this inaccurate review.

This bride was extremely difficult to reach in the 30 days leading up to her wedding. Our office left 4 messages on 4 different days for her before reaching her on the 5th. She advised us that she was busy and would return our call the next day. Three days later, we had not heard from her, so we attempted to reach her again. 3 more messages were left on 3 different days. It was not until about 10 days before that she called us back. The week of the wedding she submitted her information and the night before submitted her music.

Prior to the event we have the couple submit their music list online. We arrange to have that music at the event. Our DJs keep an electronic log of all of the songs played, and the time played. Each and every song on her 3 page music list was played at various intervals during the night. Our DJ even connected to the internet to download a few new songs that were given to him that morning. There was not any mention of a lively club atmosphere on the couples submitted notes. Additionally their song suggestions did not paint this musical picture. The DJ did have the dance floor filled most of the evening.

There were no announcements made about the singing by the guests to the couples. It was an impromptu action by the guests while on the dance floor. While the songs were being played, the guests asked for the microphone and sang along with the songs to the couple.

Upon execution of the Apron Dance, no one got in line to dance with the couple. The DJ had to suspend that dance, play something else and go into the crowd and rouse them to participate in the Apron Dance when he went back to execute it.

This event was as successful as it could have been given a number of challenges outside of our control. Challenges such as not being able to communicate with the couple sooner. The original wedding count was over a hundred, and the week prior to the event, that list was cut by at least a third. Smaller crowds present a challenge with packing the dance floor, but it was overcome.

Upon his arrival to the hall, our DJ was given a note to contact the father of the bride. He questioned whether the event would be taking place and was told it would.

A number of guests including the father of the bride, who shook the DJs hand thanked the him for a job well done and commented on the amount of fun they had dancing. The Banquet Manager of this location also gave us a strong and positive endorsement for a job well done!

Have to say I was highly disappointed by the DJ...He came and set up at a reception for 500 people with 2 little speakers and a horrible sound system. Not only that, but the music selection outside of the ones selected was horrible and didn't mesh with what had already been selected. It was definitely the biggest waste of money ever.

Additionally, we tried to caution the family member and the venue that the package they chose was not adequate for this size party. The family member insisted he did not need to upgrade and that he only needed music for the dance floor area. We're sorry better results weren't achieved, but we weren't given the opportunity to do anything else.

Let me first say that the actual DJ that came and worked at my reception was fantastic. Brian, an employee of DJ Delights, was wonderful. He was polite, courteous, and professional. Whenever he was unsure of a song selection, or when to play certain requests of mine, he discretely asked me instead of trying to think for me (and I really appreciated that).

As for Tom Gavin, complete tool. He could not have been more unprofessional and impolite while I worked with him. When you sign the contract to hire DJ Delights, you receive a letter stating that the DJ will contact you a few weeks before your event to go over details. Tom never did that. Instead, when I had questions 9 days before my wedding, I had to track him down (which was the last thing I wanted to do in an already crazy time). After asking my question and getting his professional opinion (which I wanted and appreciated), he then switched gears and did a complete 180.
Tom looked through my notes on his website (that I had not yet submitted because I still needed to make changes), and had the nerve to tell me what will and won't be good songs to play at MY WEDDING RECEPTION. When I described that I wanted to have an upbeat reception with lots of dancing (which would explain why most all of my requests were on the Top 40 list in addition to popular older songs for the older generations), he told me that most of those POPULAR songs would not work, and that I DIDN'T KNOW MY CROWD. Yes, I agree that every party is different. Every party is composed of a different dyanamic of people. But for him to have the nerve to tell me I don't know my guests? I immediately replied: "With all due respect, I think I know my crowd better than you do."
Throughout the rest of the conversation, he continued to be as rude as ever. I was so furious. If I would have had a half of a second to clear my mind, I would have fired him on the spot. A monkey with an iPod would have done better at respecting my wishes for my wedding.
After concluding the phone call, I filled my family in on what happened. It was then that I learned that Tom has been behaving this way for YEARS. My father was a wedding photographer in the late 80s and early-mid 90s, and he had an encounter with Tom as well. During a wedding reception, Tom was rude to the guests, and even disrespected my father while he was only trying to do his job. My dad was following the bride's instructions to take a few pictures, and Tom went over the PA system and said "If the photographer can hurry up, we can get going". The BRIDE herself went to Tom and had a few words with him. Not something you'd want to have to take care of on your wedding day.
A close friend of mine worked at another venue that hosted receptions and similar events, and he too had an encounter with Tom. At this specific party, Tom was rude to the guests and even had the nerve to leave the DJ booth and circulate through the crowd SOCIALIZING.

Brides, please do yourselves a favor. Do not hire Tom Gavin. He will create unnecessary stress that you do not need surrounding your wedding. If my misfortune can help save even one bride, I will consider it worth it.

Danielle and I had several conversations about both the music content for her event, as well as the guidelines set by the catering company that hired us, Martin's Valley Mansion.

While our dialogue was energetic, interesting and insightful, at no time did I feel it was combative.

Her review leads you to believe we argued. That is untrue! My honest straight forward approach was to share with her the contract terms by which Martins hired us. 1) To allow the customer to choose 30 songs. 2) To choose her procedure songs after those 30 are selected 3) to grant the dj some creative license to work with the guests to enhance the client's 30 song choices and build momentum and excitement resulting in a memorable outcome.

At no time was I ever aware of her dissatisfaction with me. And her review compliments the 'talent' we assigned her wedding, while making a number of accusations about me and my stance. In reality, I was upholding the terms and conditions set forth by Martins Caterers in employing us as the entertainment chosen for her day.

My wedding was wonderful. Everything went perfectly . . . but they always say that SOMETHING has to go wrong. Well for me it was the DJ. Alex and I met with Tom Gavin at Panera Bread in Easton and he really won us over. He talked about how special he was going to make our wedding. We signed the contract with him. We had some questions about how to use his website to add songs to our playlist before the wedding. Sometimes it would take several days for him to return our calls, sometimes he wouldn't return them at all. During the rehearsal dinner Tom called me to tell me he wanted to make sure of the time of our wedding the next night and that he would see us then. Imagine my surprise when a complete stranger ended up being our DJ at the wedding! Tom never called to let me know he was sending a replacement . . . and let me tell you, the replacement did not have the personality that a DJ should. He was so quiet that you couldn't even hear his announcements and he never announced for people to throw rice at the end of the night after my mom and I had spent hours tying up little rice packets in preparation for the wedding day. My mom later called Tom Gavin to ask him what happened. Tom told her that he had talked to my husaband and we had all agreed that he would be sending a replacement. This is not true!! He also went on to tell mom things about another couple (who he thought we were). In other words we didn't even mean enough to him to be memorable. He got us confused with someone else. SO DISAPPOINTING

HORIBBLE!! Ugh the DJ ruined my reception (sniff!) We mnade the best of it of course but this DJ did not know anything! Let me start by saying that our vendor recommended them as part of a package that we had with them. They claimed that they ordered our DJ at least 2 months before hand. We did not talk to the owner until less than 2 weeks before! The owner tells you to go onto their website to provide feedback and then you are limited to the music options you can pick! We had requested a DJ who was experienced with a Latin crowd and they promised me that their DJs were used to working multicultural crowds ---ugh NO! The DJ we got looked confused and acted like he had NO idea what he was doing. He barely played from our list and did not have and extensive music library on his laptop (or whatever DJs use!) Very disappointed. Oh and he screwed up the songs for the toss bouquet and garter toss (he swapped the songs) which made for a funny frustrated moment! Whatever you do please do not use them!

I would warn any couple against using this company for their wedding. When we first met with Tom he assured us that he would be the one to DJ at my wedding. My mom made a point of asking him, and though he was evasive and wouldn't give us a straight answer at first, he eventually said that he would be there. I asked him this again when I talked to him before the wedding, and he said he would be there. This was extremely important to us since we wanted to meet the person that would DJ at our actual event and know what we were getting. What do you know, the day of the wedding Tom was not there, but in his place was a DJ that we had never met before. He came out to our wedding party as we were about to be introduced to ask about the reception schedule (which we emailed to the company well before the wedding) and to ask how to pronounce the names. He mispronounced half of the names (none of them even remotely exotic or difficult) and stumbled through the rest of the introductions. Overall he was a disappointment, but I can't say I was surprised given the evasiveness of Tom in our interactions.

Additionally, he was difficult to contact. For example, a week before my wedding I had scheduled a phone meeting at 11 AM and he did not call. So my husband had to contact the business to reschedule. This isn't the sort of thing you want to be dealing with a week before the wedding. When he finally called, he spent probably 80% of the time telling me about his ex-girlfriend and a story about a wedding he had just done (which was not initiated or prompted on by me). When he finally stopped talking, I began to ask him questions relevant for my wedding (I hadn't talked to him since our first meeting many months before the wedding) and he didn't answer any of them directly, he just kept saying "don't worry everything will work out".

It is interesting to me how this company responds to negative reviews by claiming that Tom either "notified the bride [in advance] that he would be sending one of [his] talented DJs to perform at her wedding" or that Tom wasn't able to reach the bride before the wedding and that's the reason for the lack of communication (essentially making excuses for the company's poor business practices and calling the couple liars). I will attest that Tom falsely assured us that he would be at the wedding (otherwise we would have hired another DJ, plain and simple), never contacted us to tell us that another DJ would come in his place, and overall left me feeling duped and disappointed with regard to the entertainment for my wedding.

I could go on forever, but I will try to keep this brief. Tom did not show up to our wedding reception even though a week before he told us on a phone call that he would see us there. We also asked if we should add him for to our food count and if anyone would be with him. His response was that they usually have a few people there, but they are so busy running around that they probably won't have time to eat, but if I wanted to put them down for one plate that would be great. So, you can imagine my surprise when we arrived at our reception and there was a random guy names Johnny there by himself, with Tom nowhere to be found. It turns out that Tom sent someone in his place and did not tell me this or give me any indication anyone other than he would be there. I was so disappointed by this because my fiancé, my mother-in-law and I had all developed a relationship with Tom, so we were very caught off guard at the last minute that he didn't show up.

When I first met with Tom he dazzled us in so many ways, including by saying that he loves to take his clients out to dinner a few weeks before the wedding to get to know them. I thought this was such a nice gesture. When I contacted the office a month prior to the wedding to schedule this appointment, they just said he would have a conference call with us. This isn't a big deal, but not what I was expecting. We had a time confirmed though email with both Jessie (Tom’s employee) and Tom directly, but he didn't call at the time we had confirmed. His voicemail that he lest said he was in the car and running in between appointments. This wasn’t the level of service we were expecting – to be just rushed on a call while he was in his car between his other appointments. When we called him back he didn't answer, and then it took us several days to finally get back in touch with him. We did have a nice conversation and thought we were all set at that point, but we were wrong.

When we showed up at the reception and found Johnny, he said he didn’t have any of the names for our attendants. We were told per the contract to submit our list of attendant’s names two weeks prior to the wedding, however when we went to do this we had questions so we planned to talk to Tom about it on the conference call. Since this call didn’t happen when it was supposed to, I spoke to Jessie and she wrote me back in an email stating that as long as Tom had it by September 3rd, (nine days prior to the wedding) this would allow him enough time to get it all together and “to not worry”. On the wedding day the DJ said we didn’t submit it on time, but according to Jessie we were supposed to be fine. I know we were a few days late from what they stated in the contract, but I have an email confirmation that it was fine to wait. Then, after I spent about 20 minutes going through all of the names and how to pronounce them, Johnny told me that he couldn’t get his equipment to work. So, in the end, our guests were sitting in the ballroom for about 45 minutes while the DJ sorted out the names and the equipment.

Since the reception started so late due to him not being prepared, our venue offered to extend our reception by 30 minutes, so I asked Johnny if he would stay a half hour longer so we could still have plenty of time for dancing. I even told him we would talk to Tom and work out payment if necessary later. He laughed in my face and continued to talk down to me like our reception didn’t mean anything to him and he was only there to do the basics. An example of this is he started playing a popular wedding song for the second time, and I went up and let him know he already played it and he just laughed and said oops and rolled his eyes.

I asked to speak with Tom about extending the music, and after fighting to get his cell phone number, my husband, mother-in-law, and maid of honor continued to leave messages throughout the night with no response. I saw on another bride’s review that Tom did this same disappearing act to her, and his response to her was she should have called him if there were any issues. I did this, but never received a call back. After trying to talk to the DJ more, I ended up in tears because of the way he treated me. When we arrived home from our honeymoon there was a refund check for a portion of our payment, but a little bit of money could never change the fact that the DJ was ill prepared and made me cry as I tried to find a workable solution.

We have since contacted DJ Delights to talk about this disaster, and even though Tom made an appointment to have a conference call with us, he did not call. We left a message then and continued to leave messages with Tom and Jessie and still to this date (5 months later) we have never been able to discuss this situation.
My advice to any bride is to get in writing who will be your DJ the day of your wedding. Also, don’t believe things they say to you through email or over the phone…be sure to have it all in your contract. I think I am the most upset because I truly believed in Tom and what he said that his company represented. I thought we had built a great relationship over the phone for five months, and I was just so disappointed in the end. He was so professional, kind and funny when I would deal with him, but then at the end it all fell apart and resulted with me in tears at my own wedding reception.

In response to Tom's reply below:
We were absolutely never told that Tom would not be the DJ at our wedding; this is a blatant lie. If we had been told this they why in the world would we have been caught off guard when we walked into the reception. He told us just a week before that he was excited and would see us there. Julie did tell us that she would not be there and this is why her boss Michelle would be there on-site that day. She never mentioned anything about the DJ, nor is this her responsibility to do. It is interesting though that I believe her cousin's wedding was planned after ours, so it seems as though she scheduled you later than us and you made the decision to ditch out wedding for her cousins. I had mentioned to Julie that Tom raved about her during one of our visits, and she never mentioned he was going to DJ her cousin's wedding. All of this seems to me a little odd and definitely unprofessional.

The venue absolutely did not tell the DJ to stop and close up. It was actually Michelle's idea to extend the reception by a half hour because of the DJ's issues. I at this time asked the DJ to stay as well and he just laughed said he didn't want to and refused to stay even if I paid him. I have a bill to prove the extended half hour for the reception, so your DJ is obviously lying to you since you weren't there to see if all for yourself. I also have a time stamp from our wedding video that will prove your DJ is lying. I know you probably don't want to not believe your staff, but this is also a blatant lie.

Before the wedding we didn't care about the dinner at all, but that was just what Tom told me when we first booked him. Tom didn't meet with us in person at all except when I met him at a bridal fare and then blew off our phone calls and made us feel very irrelevant to him when we were trying to talk ahead of the wedding. When we finally did connect he was great, but it still felt a bit rushed; just not the experience we were expecting.

The times you state for how long the mistakes took to fix are incorrect and again we have the wedding video to prove the times.

I absolutely take responsibility for my bridesmaid that was clearly out of control, but she had every reason to be upset when the DJ was yelling at her best friend and making her cry. I would think anyone would be upset. How she handled it was not the best, but since Tom wasn't there he couldn't see for himself how his DJ reacted which was equally inappropriate. I have never been talked to so rudely before this DJ.

Brides...feel free to make your own judgment on this DJ. I have no reason to lie about anything, and more just wanted to warn other brides of my horrible experience. My photographer also said that this DJ ruined another wedding she had done three months before mine and stated that she hopes she never runs into him again.

We try to keep our responses professional, factual and brief. That will be a challenge with this one as there are so many facts to dispute and circumstances to explain. We’ll do our best.

A few weeks prior to the wedding Tom notified the bride that he would be sending one of our talented DJs to perform at her wedding. Julie from this venue also communicated this to the bride, as Julie was part of the bridal party at the wedding that Tom was performing at during that same timeframe on that same night.

In all of our years of practice, we have never taken any of our clients out for dinner. We do schedule an “in person” visit from Tom with the couples. We also use the website in addition to that visit to communicate all of the music and wedding information. In most cases, once Tom and the couples have already met, and a conference call usually wraps up the details. We don’t limit these calls, and take as long as our clients need, as many times and they need.

We do ask that all music and information be submitted 14 days prior to the event date. This allows us plenty of time to review, check, recheck, touch base with the couples and purchase any music we may not have. We did communicate to the clients via email that they could submit their documents to us by September 3rd. HOWEVER, we did not receive their submitted information until 4 days later on Sept 7th at 1:41am. This certainly made it a challenge for our DJ to receive the paperwork and music from us via US Mail.

We touch base with all of our DJs the morning of their events. John mentioned that the info we sent him still had not been received. We weren’t worried since John is one of our most talented and requested DJs. He’s a professional DJ of 10 years and we knew once he got to the venue, he would connect to the internet and download any songs he needed. He would also take a few moments to gather the names as he lined the bridal party up to be announced. It took about 10 minutes from start to finish to obtain and review the names.

Once John identified that the CD player he was using for music in the cocktail room wasn’t working, he pulled out his laptop (backup piece of equipment) and put that into use. This process did take about 8 minutes from start to finish.

At no time did the venue agree to extend the party. In fact, the manager asked John to wrap things up just prior to the official end time, and he promptly did. There were vulgar comments made by the wedding party to John. The comments escalated to make a hostile environment. In fact, one of the bride’s guests’ (a lawyer) was trying to convince John to stay and had offered to pay him. John was explaining to him that the manager had asked him to wrap up. One of the female bridal attendants interrupted them and when the lawyer tried to intervene with her, she was vulgar with him. That guest shook John’s hand and thanked him for his time and was just as thrown off as John was by this abusive behavior. We later found out that John had called a family member who’s a military police officer to come assist him with packing up and departure because of how hostile this environment had become.

Tom could not return the calls (that occurred after the event had ended) since he was still working at an event that was still in progress. Jessie was on call, and after speaking to the venue manager and the DJ we decided it was best for all parties that we let everyone cool off before chatting with anyone.

Tom felt that the ten minute delay of music from equipment failure in the cocktail room and the inconvenience of having to go over the names with the DJ as if it were for the first time was enough for him to offer what we think is a significant refund. He sent a letter immediately after the event accompanied by a check for nearly 1/3 of their money back. We always take responsibility for any mistakes and delays. We encourage our clients to do the same.

I thought I was gettin a great DJ for my wedding at a decent cost. I met with the owner and felt very comfortable with what he was saying was going to happen. Well, it didn't happen the way it was suppose to. First, it took 3 weeks to get a phone call back and didn't get one untill approximately 1 week before my wedding to discuss the schedule and what particular songs I wanted to be played. Then the day of the wedding, I ended up getting a different DJ then I had requested and had been told I would get, he did not play the songs I wanted during the introductions, garter removal and toss, flower toss, cake cutting, etc... He also did not have a large variety of music. He did not have a clue on the schedule that I had talked to the owner about. Before we even took a bite of our dinner, my photographer was told by the DJ to get us ready to cut the cake right after we eat and then do the garter and flower toss right after the cake. My photographer knew that that was NOT our schedule and had to help the DJ with the schedule for the rest of the night. We hadn't even been in the reception hall for 15 minutes and the DJ was already rushing us and messing up the schedule. I would not recommend this DJ to anyone for their Wedding. Maybe for a party, but not on your special day when you want/need everything to go as planned.

We are unable to respond, or validate the above concerns without any information from the bride as to her name, place, etc...We have signed her wedding wire guest book a few days ago asking for her to contact us and we have not been contacted. We have also asked Wedding Wire to remove the comments as they cannot be validated.

Tom is a great sales men. Bad business man. He promised a wonderful experience but delivered a DJ that was an Amateur. None of our songs we selected we replayed during the reception all were played at the end after 70% of our guests had left. He cut my father daughter dance short and interrupted the first dance. He played songs on the do not play list including " we are never ever getting back together". Taylor swift was on the do not play list. Tom has been difficult to contact. Please go with a professional, not Tom.

First I want to start off by saying I found DJ delights from my caterers since they were a recommended vendor. My husband and I and my mom met with Tom and scheduled HIM for our wedding. We made sure every time we talked to him that he would be the one at our wedding and assured us yes and that we would have a great time.

Needless to say the day of the wedding he was not the one there. The replacement DJ was awful and tried to tell us that Tom was running late.. Well he never showed up. The replacement DJ pronounced the names of people in the wedding party incorrectly after he had asked how them how you say it. He was very quite, he also didn't play all the music we had on our playlist that were must plays. It was so bad that our photographers took over and did a lot of the talking.

It got so bad to the point that our caterer who has DJ Delights as a preferred vendor called Tom personally and he ignored her call. I was very disappointed and unimpressed with him and the service I was provided.

I would not recommend them!

Terrific salesman, shady business practices. Be very careful before you give your money to Tom Gavin!!!!!

I hired this company for an event on August 27, 2011. Unfortunately hurricane Irene came through the area on the same day and ruined our plans. Furthermore, it caused mass power outages in the state and unsafe driving conditions for anyone to leave their homes that day. While the caterers and the party hall all graciously provided refunds because of the unfortunate and unpreventable cancellation of my event, Mr. Gavin retained all of my money without providing any services. His only response to me was that "he is not in the business of giving refunds."

Please use caution if you are considering using this company for your event, they are currently under investigation by the Consumer Protection Division of the Maryland Attorney General's Office as a result of their suspect business practices.

Unfortunatey Mother Nature was not kind to us this weekend. However, three hours before the party, the client called us to confirm our arrival time. We confirmed that our brave DJ would indeed be there if the party was still on.

With our DJ enroute, and less than an hour until the party, the client called to tell us that the venue had lost power and the party was cancelled. We were able to reach our DJ by phone but still had to pay him for his time.

We offered the client three other viable solutions. None of which he chose to accept. We spoke to the BBB, and The Attorney General's office both of which found us to be within the law, and of no wrong doing!!!!

I would not recommend Tom Gavin's DJ Delights to anyone. Tom was unrepsonsive to emails and phone calls during the week leading up to our wedding. I think the letter I wrote him after our wedding sums up well how disappointed we were with his services. Tom never responded to this letter or to our follow up phone calls and emails. I can not believe he wouldn't at least apologize or provide a refund of some sort. DJ Delights had this review removed from Wedding Wire saying "We welcome the opportunity to defend these outrageous allegations to anyone wishing to call us. Thank you, Jessie D. Berger". I called and emailed Jessie hoping that DJ Delights would once and for all apologize for their poor service, but they never called or emailed me back. Apparently, they don't actually want to respond my concerns. I find it laughable that they continue to post responses to this review acting like they've tried to resolve this issue. My email address and my cell phone number which are in their "files" are exactly the same as they were two years ago. If they wanted to make this right with us they've had ample time and the correct contact info for over two years now and still nothing.

We are writing this letter to request a refund of 50% of the $799.00 we paid you to perform DJ services at our October 6, 2007 wedding ceremony and reception. Needless to say there were many aspects of your services that we are very disappointed with.

We communicated with you several times about your ability to provide microphones for our outdoor ceremony. You agreed to provide wireless microphones for our officiant and for us. You did not provide microphones for us.

The officiant microphone cut out frequently throughout the ceremony. Not only did it appear that you hadn’t sound checked this equipment prior to the ceremony, you were also noticeable absent from the ceremony, and therefore did nothing to provide a reliable back-up microphone to our officiant, even though you repeatedly assured us of your ability to provide back-up equipment in the case of equipment malfunction.

Many of our guests commented on their inability to hear our ceremony because of the problem with the officiant microphone, which went uncorrected, not to mention the fact that we were not miked as promised, so no one heard our vows!

You also agreed to provide a stationary microphone for the readings. The microphone on the reading stand did not function at all. Once again you did not appear to be monitoring your equipment or the ceremony, since you made no attempt to correct the reading microphone for the second reading.

Your inattention to us as clients continued into the evening. We requested that you play a limited MC role by introducing us and our bridal party. This was a rather small task, but you still incorrectly announced Meghan’s married name. She is not changing her name; this was conveyed to you on the introduction sheet you had us fill out and fax to you and the schedule that was emailed to you. Instead of referring to the information provided, you assumed that Meghan was now Mrs. Klaessig. This was misleading to our guests, and a gross lack of attention to important details on your part.

Throughout the rest of the night you were noticeably unprofessional; you were almost constantly on your personal cell phone and/or checking your cell phone messages. Multiple times we had to get your attention or track you down to have you announce the next event, despite being provided with a schedule and assuring us that you would be the one to find us and ask about making announcements.

You were completely inattentive from start to finish, much to the detriment of our wedding. From the ceremony where you let multiple equipment malfunctions go unattended, to the reception where you were frequently conducting your personal business and not present at the DJ stand. These actions, especially your disengaged nature during the reception, allowed the event to lose momentum and you appeared to make no attempt to keep people on the dance floor by reading the crowd’s preferences or engaging the crowd at all. We do not feel that you even came close to providing “the best Washington and Baltimore DJ service”. Our ceremony and reception seriously lacked in “event quality and professionalism”. We saw absolutely no “passion” on your behalf to provide even basic quality, attention to detail, or physical presence on a very important day in our lives!

Whatever you do avoid this company at all costs. They messed up what was suppose to be one of the best days of my life. My husband still refuses to watch our wedding video because of them. The DJ sounded like he was high and annouced our first dance song as Usher "Yeah"... that was not even close. He would play the same song over and over again from a CD we bought. He said that his equipment was broken and that he didn't know how to operate it because he "was not our DJ, he was doing it as a favor to a friend." When I talked to Tom about the ordeal he said that guy was our DJ and that it was my fault because the DJ didn't know he was doing a wedding... Why would a pay wedding prices through Tiffany's East for a party??? In summary I would not recommend DJ Delights even if they were doing my event for free.

Although the caterer booked the event several months before her wedding, the caterer as well as our office did not know if this was a wedding or party. We made numerous attempts to reach the bride, as did the caterer.

It wasn’t until 2 days before the wedding day that the bride called us to let us know that they had been on a destination wedding and this was a post wedding reception.
Our contract clearly states that song lists, bridal party information, etc..is needed in our office two weeks prior to the event date. It also states any submission after that point is not guaranteed. We did do our very best to get some details but not all of the music could be obtained, and communicated to the DJ within that 48 hour time frame.

The DJ assigned to her event was always assigned to her event. Unfortunately for him we did not have any information in advance for him to review or prepare for. The equipment was NEVER broken and we did not play the same songs from the same CD over and over.
We work very closely with our DJs, AND the managers at the catering halls to prevent such things from occuring.
We're sorry July bride did not give us the necessary information for us to provide her with a better perceived outcome.
