Officiant

INFO FOR OFFICIANT

What officiant services do you provide?
Civil Union, Interfaith Ceremony, Non-religious Ceremony, Single Religion Ceremony
What religious affiliations do you serve?
Agnostic, Baha'i Faith, Buddhist, Christian (no denomination), Christian - Anglican, Christian - Baptist, Christian - Catholic, Christian - Episcopalian, Christian - Lutheran, Christian - Methodist, Christian - Presbyterian, Hindu, Islam, Jainism, Jewish, Muslim, Shinto, Sikhism, Taoist
Can you accommodate the hearing impaired?
No
Are you willing to perform a ceremony at a non-religious site?
Absolutely! It's your wedding, and the location for your ceremony is entirely your decision.
What is your attire for the ceremony?
I dress according to the type of wedding I am officiating. I usually wear either business attire or a ministerial robe for a standard traditional wedding. If you wish for me to dress in accordance with a specific theme or cultural tradition, I will happily do so, also.
Are you flexible in the wording used throughout the ceremony, including the vows?
Yes! Again, this goes with my philosophy that a wedding is a very personal occasion, and should be a reflection of who the couple is both together and as individuals. Each couple is unique in their own cultural and religious backgrounds and life experiences. I create a ceremony specifically designed for you, taking all your ideas and wishes into consideration. I will work on a ceremony until you are 100% satisfied that it meets your needs, exceeds your expectations, and fully represents you both as individuals and as a couple. The ceremony should first and foremost be meaningful to you, and should include elements that make it uniquely yours alone.
Do you allow the couple to write their own vows, if desired?
Definitely! In fact, I encourage couples to take an active role and share something of yourselves in creating your ceremony. Your love for one another is one-of-a-kind, and no one can express those emotions better than you!
Do you have a list of readings pre-selected, from which the couple must choose?
I have a collection of pre-written sample ceremonies, vows, and readings for couples to look over, but these are provided only as inspiration. If a couple likes one of my samples, I am more than happy to use that for their ceremony, but it is not a requirement. If a you choose to include a reading in your ceremony, it should be one that has special meaning for you, be it a verse, a poem, or something you write yourselves.
How long are your ceremonies?
Ceremonies can last anywhere from a quick five minutes for an "elopement" wedding to a full 30 minutes or longer, depending on what you want. Again, it's all about you, and what you want in regards to traditions, readings, "extras," such as Unity Candle or Sand Ceremony, etc.
Do you require that premarital counseling be done?
No, premarital counseling is not a requirement. However, I am always available to listen, unbiased and open-minded, if you feel the need to talk through any concerns you might be having.
Are you willing to perform pre-ceremony rehearsals?
Of course! Especially if the ceremony will be elaborate or there is a large number of bridesmaids and groomsmen, or even if it just helps you feel more confident and comfortable knowing what to expect on the Big Day.
Do you supply a sound system?
Usually, the D.J., the videographer, or the venue hired for the wedding will usually provide the necessary equipment for the ceremony as part of their services. I do, however, have a small, basic sound system that will get the job done in a pinch.

I am sorry to have to provide a negative review of anyone, and I'm sure Tracey was a good officiant at some point, but I think she's basically stopped being in this business. We had hired her last year to do our ceremony this past May, and at first she was very responsive, wrote a pretty good first draft of a ceremony, and then she stopped answering our emails. We tried for several months emailing her, calling her, messaging her on Facebook (her Facebook page has disappeared, along with her new site), with still no response. We actually found her Twitter account and saw she was active on it, and tried talking to her that way, and still nothing. We finally came to the decision that we really wanted someone we could depend on to perform our ceremony (and someone we knew would actually be there!), especially at 2 months out! We did end up going with a recommendation from our photographer who did a spectacular job for us. Tracey did end up emailing us saying she was sorry, but that's an $80 deposit for services we were never provided with that we'll never see again!

While I appreciate Elisabeth's feedback and frustrations, I do have to say that a few months ago, my contact info changed, and I sent out emails to all my couples with the new information.
I also explained to Elisabeth that I was undergoing a health issue that required minor surgery, but that I would be able to officiate her ceremony if she wished. She made the choice to cancel, fully aware that her deposit would be non-refundable. I am terribly sorry that she feels her experience wasn't satisfactory, but it could have been resolved had she given me the opportunity.

It was my pleasure to perform your wedding ceremony! You are a wonderful couple, and I can't tell you how much I enjoyed being a part of something so special to you. I feel honored that you allowed me the privilege of bringing you together in marriage. Thank you so much for being such an amazing couple to work with, and for all your kind words. Your wedding is one that I will always remember fondly.
