I echo the comments of the 9/29/10 bride. This place was terrible! I ordered a dress on January 4, 2010 for my October 17, 2010 wedding. The saleswomen all put a LOT of pressure on me to purchase the dress -- which was pretty, but didn't at all give me that "this is it" feeling. Getting the dress was a mistake -- and for the most part, I didn't blame them, since it's their job to sell dresses, but I was a little put off that anyone would push a bride into something that clearly wasn't right for her. Anyways, they tell me the dress will be in in late July 2010.

So after about 10 days, I decide I'm just not happy with this dress and to look elsewhere and try to cancel this dress. I'm obviously an emotional wreck over the whole thing because one wedding dress ain't cheap, and two wedding dresses is even worse. So I call the manager up and give her the sob story, and she gives me SUCH attitude, basically telling me, "You made your bed, now sleep in it." She says there's absolutely no possibility of canceling the order, even though she told me the order wouldn't go through for weeks b/c of the New Year celebration in China. No possibility even for store credit -- nothing. I have to buy this dress. I even had my mother-in-law call and try to talk it out, because she's much more aggressive in these situations, and she told me the woman she talked to was just cold as ice on the phone. So I go through with the order (I don't have a choice), and then go elsewhere and find a different dress that makes me feel like a princess.

To make matters worse, the True Love dress came in MONTHS late. She called me on October 1 to say it was in, when it was promised for July. It's a good thing I'd bought another dress, because how in the world would this one have been altered in time! I called several times between July and September asking where it was, and there wasn't even any explanation -- just "Not in yet." Kind of like "Stop calling and checking, we'll get to it when we get to it."

I can mostly get over the fact that they pressured me into the purchase in the first place, even though you just expect people to be nicer if they're in the wedding business. I can kind of see from a businessperson's standpoint how it's not in their interest to let me cancel the dress. But I can NOT get over how unbelievably rude they were to me on the phone as soon as I had an issue and how inexcusably late the dress was. Please don't give them your business.

The dresses themselves were beautiful and all my girls were very happy with the quality and level of comfort. However, we had a few issues with the employees at True Love Bridal. When I went with 3 of my girls to pick out bridesmaid dresses, even with our appointment, it was overcrowded and we were given no help/attention. They actually crammed all 4 of us into 2 small dressing rooms. More upsetting, out of 3 girls who actually went into the store to get measured, I had 2 who were insulted by the staff. One of my bridesmaids called me up crying! She did not agree with the size/measurements True Love had taken, and since she herself had just gotten married, she was very familiar with her size. She requested a smaller size, to which the woman strongly disagreed and in the process insulted my bridesmaid. The size my bridesmaid order ended up fitting her perfectly - if she had ordered the size they recommended, she would have had to have several alterations done. My other bridesmaid was slightly insulted when they made a comment about her hips and waist being an odd proportion - I'm not sure these comments are necessary in doing their job. Either way, once we had these complications simply getting measured, we decided not to have alterations done at True Love Bridal.
Again, the dresses were gorgeous, but I could have gotten them at Cinderella Bridal right up the street for the same price.

When I first went to True Love Bridal I found a dress I loved. They told me the price, and while reasonable, I called around to see what other stores were charging. True Love was charging $110 more than every other store I called. I mentioned this to the owner and she knocked off the $110, so at first I was thinking the owner was great and a smart business woman. Couldn't be farther from the truth.

I purchased my dress in Sept 2009 with a guarantee that it would be in May 2010 (still seemed like a long time, but fine). I called them in mid May to find out when I could come get my dress and the owner gave me a ton of attitude and said that it wouldn't be in until mid August 2010 (I'm getting married Oct 2010). She said there were "delays" wouldn't give any specifics, and heaped on the nastiness.

After a small panic attack, and waiting another THREE months, my dress finally came in. I came in, tried it on, it looked fine, I was happy again. I scheduled my appointment to come in for my fitting on Wed night at 7:15pm.

I had to take a train from NJ (spent $15), and have my fiance drive to my parents, pick up my mother, drive her to the train station, and then drive us to the store. Where it was closed. Granted, we were about 10 minutes late, but even at a fancy restaurant they will hold your reservation for at LEAST 15 minutes. I spent hours of my time and money I really can't afford to blow to get to the store where it was already closed.

I am DONE with these people and their horrible business ethics. I will be getting my dress from them (and if there's ANYTHING wrong with my dress I will absolutely sue them), and finding another seamstress.

Do not use these people unless you want to deal with even MORE stress for your wedding!!

I am very surprised with the negative reviews of True Love. My only issue with them is the seamstress they employ, who did a poor job on my bustle, which came apart on the day of. Also, the seamstress did not take the time to help me make the bustle the way I really wanted it, saying it wouldn't work that way, even though I was told someone else who had purchased the dress had done the bustle that way. However, the seamstress is independent, and just works with them (and Hearts For You in Marlboro) and you can always use your own seamstress, or they may have another they work with.

True Love itself was wonderful. I didn't book an appointment to browse, just popped in with my Mom, and they were excellent. We looked around a while on our own and they left as alone until we felt ready to consult with someone. I described what I wanted to the girl, and she found THE DRESS, which I tried on and loved. I went in two more times to try it on again before deciding, and they were so wonderful and not high-pressure at ALL. I really wanted to be sure I loved the dress each time I put it on before ordering, as I had heard stories of other brides changing their minds a month before the wedding. The dress came in EARLIER than originally anticipated, and it was amazing. They were excellent and accommodating. I did not have a bridal party, so I cannot attest for that end of things. In terms of my gown though, I was so happy and really recommend them (just not the seamstress!).

True Love had the most lace dresses out of all the stores I went too. The sales lady was great at helping me pick out dresses. I ordered my dress, the bridesmaid dresses and my mom's dress there. True Love had the most lace dresses out of all the stores I went too. The sales lady was great at helping me pick out dresses. I ordered my dress, the bridesmaid dresses and my mom's dress there. My only real compliant is that mine and the girls dresses took forever to come in. I am not sure how much that actually has to do with true love or the vendor but it had me worried for a while. I had a great experience with True Love Bridal itself. Gail was amazing to wirk with, as were her associates. I found my perfect THREE gowns and they worked with me to combine what I liked about each dress into one! (It was a Casablanca dress so they worked with the company to make my dress perfect).
Then it came time for alterations! BIG problems. The shop works with Lydia from Magic Touch. My halter strap broke before even leaving my house that morning and in the middle f the reception my bustle broke so I had to carry my train the rest of the night. She also messed up every one of the bridesmaids dresses. She took one dress and altered it for one bridesmaid then gave it to another bridesmaid and altered it for her! The day of the wedding the first bridesmaid was in a dress that never got altered! Thank god for her mom having a sewing needle and thread! We told Lydia about this and she just defended herself by making excuses. Gail said there isnt anything she can do bc it is hard to find a good seamstress.
This is the only reason I cannot recommend True Love Bridal.

My first daugher's wedding is tomorrow (7/4/10), and my second daughter's is 10/30/10. I cannot possibly say enough wonderful things about True Love Bridal.
The service is unbelievable and the selection is by far the best in the area. The staff caters to your every wish. My one daugter tried on over 50 gowns, and they were ready to keep them coming. There are no time limits, and they also offered to open early to accomodate my daughter's schedule.
Many thanks to Gail and her great staff. They made all our worries melt away!
