About Tucker PlantationNestled in the beautiful southern countryside of North Georgia, is the historically significant Smithonia district. Begun as a farm in the 1860’s, what is now known as Tucker Plantation was the largest farm east of the Mississippi River. The farm produced cattle, cotton, and corn all in abundance. The farm even had it’s own private railroad and brick manufacturing plant. The farm was purchased in the 1980s by famed country singer, Kenny Rogers, where he made it his home for twenty-five years on the adjacent plantation. In 2001, another Southern gentleman, Jewett Tucker, acquired the property and established Tucker Plantation. Mr. Tucker has spent the last nine years restoring the three original brick barns and horse farm spanning over 300 acres. He has transformed Tucker Plantation into a historic village that blends architectural and horticultural features of the 1800s.
Here in this sublime pastoral setting, Tucker Plantation hosts several event facilities amid beautiful lakes, pastures, and 200 year-old oak trees. There are vast countryside recreational areas for hiking, horseback riding, fishing, and just simply relaxing in a way that the contemporary city does not allow. The heart of Tucker Plantation lies in the three original brick barns which have been impeccably restored by Mr. Tucker. The majestic facilities are authentically sophisticated with their heart of pine floors, soaring dome ceilings, exposed original wood beams, and massive wrought iron chandeliers.
Conveniently located just fifteen minutes from Athens, GA, Tucker Plantation is the perfect setting for elegant wedding ceremonies and receptions. With picturesque landscape and majestic event facilities Tucker Plantation is truly one of a kind.
