About Tuller's Catering & Party ServiceTuller's Catering & Party Service is locally owned and operated by Mark Tuller in Central New York. Mark is a 2004 graduate of The Culinary Instiute of America in Hyde Park, NY. He began Tuller's Catering & Party Service in 2007.
Mark was inspired by his grandmother, Laura Kane to become a chef. Grandma Kane is locally famed for owning her own restaurant "Laura's" in Hartwick, NY and gave Mark the opportunity to be a short order cook at a young age. His mother says that she should have known this would be his career when for his 11th birthday he asked that we go out to dinner instead of having a party.
During high school, Mark attended DCMO Boces for Culinary Arts and worked part time at the Old Mill restaurant in Mt. Upton, NY. This experience gave him the references he needed to attend The CIA. For his high school graduation party he hosted a pig roast and had a pig roaster built for the occasion. He still uses it today.
The Culinary Insitiute of America is a two year fast paced and very focused program. While in attendance at the CIA he interned at the Otesage Hotel in Cooperstown, NY.
His talents were appreciated so much, that after graduation he was asked to stay on in the position of Sous Chef. Mark worked at the Otesaga for a year before trying to broaden his horizons by taking the position of Head Chef at the New York Pizzeria.
As the Head Chef at the New York Pizzeria he was given more input on new dishes and daily specials. He still works at the New York Pizzeria part time as his schedule allows.
Mark's catering business was born when he noticed a shortage of caterers in the area. He bought an enclosed trailer and with the help of his dad, brother and several friends remodeled the inside to hold a commercial kitchen. The 8x 16 foot trailer is now home to two coolers, a sink, a counter and a ten burner propane stove with ovens- Yes during the summer it is HOT!!! Luckily for Mark, he is excellent at Barbeques and gets the opportunity to do some of his cooking outside. After his first year of business, Mark has catered for numerous events including graduation parties, weddings, bridal showers and birthday/anniversary parties.
Tuller's Catering is finishing up a busy 2009 Summer and was able to add several events to his resume. With an event every weekend this year we were able to add some great services to this mobile catering business. Mark purchased a second trailer. This one is empty at the moment and plans for it's future are still in neogotiaions. It is undecdied if it will become a walk in refridigeration unit or a second mobile kitchen,but one thing is for sure, we are growing on hopes to better serve our clients needs.
