After searching and searching for the perfect dress I finally stumbled upon the Wedding Atelier on Madison. Unlike Pronovias or Kleinfelds there isn't a big name/big price associated with it. They had a huge selection of dresses and only let me look at the dresses within my price range, not pushing me to spend more like other places. It seems like some dresses they have are last season - so, 2014 not 2015 - but because of this the prices are lower. The girl who helped me was a great listener and found me not only what I wanted but convinced me to try on a few dresses that I thought weren't my style but I ended up buying one of them! I got an amazing Pronovias dress for 2k! The only problem I had with them is that their alterations start at 600$, without including putting pads or a bra in. And because of the style of my dress, they can't even hem it. $600 is a lot for alterations when they can't even shorten the dress or put in a bra.

I purchased my wedding dress from Debra earlier this year, and I had a lovely experience working with her. She listened to what I wanted and gave me honest opinions without being pushy. I also appreciate that she worked to stay within my budget. I can honestly say my dress was my dream dress!

I did originally have some issues with the alterations process, though in the end it all worked out. I think the issue for me was that during alterations, you are just one-on-one with a seamstress. I think it would be better to have a sales rep. and/or another seamstress there to provide additional feedback and insight. We ended up requesting this, and after having a bigger meeting/fitting, my dress came out perfectly!

Bought my dress here from Marnie! I had been to about 5 other shops before Wedding Atelier; Marnie understood exactly what I wanted and was incredibly patient with me. She didn't make me feel like I HAD to buy a dress that day. I also love that they have all their dresses hanging out in the open so you can walk around and peruse.

My Mom couldn't be there with me, so they let me hook up to their WiFi and FaceTime her, so she could help me make the decision. That made all the difference.

Their seamstress, Mae, was SO wonderful! She removed sleeves from the dress; everything fit like a glove and she was so lovely and attentive. The bustle was gorgeous! The staff was super helpful when shipping my dress to CA. I received it in record time and got an email with all tracking info, etc. It was packed so well that I actually didn't need to steam it! Thanks again!

I had a wonderful time picking out my dress at Wedding Atelier. I had gone to other places prior to this and felt like I was always pushed, pressured, and felt like the places were like a zoo with so many bridezillas crammed into one place.

I got a recommendation from my husband's friend's wife that she had first tried on her dress and they had actually told her that she could get her dress online for a lot less since her wedding is so far away. After having heard that, I knew this could be my place to find a dress.

I went on a Saturday at 11. It was surprisingly very peaceful and I was one of three brides there trying on dresses. My consultant no longer works there but she was a dream. She made me feel so comfortable and taken care of and I actually tried on five dresses but ended up choosing the first dress that I tried on. It was a beautiful Martina Liana gown with silk petals for the skirt. I generally really liked the quality of the dresses there.

I went back for my three fittings and though my consultant no longer worked there, someone was always there for me to chit chat with since I went alone to my fittings. The consultants all seem really nice.

My experience was really great here! If you are not a bridezilla and if you are willing to pay for quality (this is not David's Bridal), then you can't go wrong at this place.

Wedding Atelier has a large selection of beautiful wedding gowns. My stylist, Marnie, was wonderful throughout the whole process. On my first visit, she let me take my time and showed me all types of dresses to help me narrow down my style. My tailor, Mae, did a beautiful job and my gown fit perfectly on my wedding day. I highly recommend Wedding Atelier!

I purchased my wedding gown and sash from Wedding Atelier. It is a very nice and organized bridal salon compared to some of the others I've visited. Debra, my bridal consultant and the other staff I interacted with were always very friendly and professional and I appreciate that my appointments always started on time. Debra asked me a few questions about my wedding upon our initial meeting and listened to what I liked and my budget and pulled a few dresses based on our conversation as well as one I requested to try on. I found the perfect dress having tried on just a few and Debra worked with me to keep it within budget. She also referred me to a wonderful seamstress who was local to me who did the few alterations I needed for a great price. Wedding Atelier is definitely the best bridal salon I've visited in the NYC area. I would highly recommend it to other brides.

I loved Wedding Atelier - a friend recommended it to me after I had basically given up all hope of finding "the perfect dress." I dealt with Marnie (consultant), Jess (consultant) and Marina (seamstress). All of them were wonderful. I felt like Marnie really listened to what I wanted, which was quite specific, yet vague (if that makes sense) and during my initial appointment she only brought me three dresses to try, all of which I really liked. I liked that she targeted what I want and didn't overwhelm me with choices. I fell in love with a Suzanne Neville gown and Marnie gave me advice as to how I could alter it to make it even more in line with what I wanted. Doing so did put me over my budget so that was a sticking point for me, but eventually I went with the alterations. I live in Australia but am from the US and Marnie and Jess were amazing at working with me to make sure my dress would be ready for my next trip as I was not comfortable having it altered in Australia. There was a slight problem with the straps I ordered in terms of the price I was quoted, but in the end we worked out a mutually agreeable solution, which I appreciated. Marina altered my dress on the same day for my first fitting so that we could make sure it was OK before I headed back to Australia. She did an amazing job and I felt like I was her daughter, she seemed to care that much about my dress. All of the girls kept in touch over the months leading up to the wedding and every time I called to make or confirm an appointment, everyone was friendly. I really loved my experience with Marnie, Jess and Marina - they gave me the wedding dress of my dreams and made me very comfortable during the process. I cannot recommend them enough.

I purchased my dress from Wedding Atelier in April 2009. Wedding Atelier is a beautifully elegant bridal salon tucked away in a small 5TH Avenue building. If you are looking for a large bridal salon experience this is not the place for you. The salon however is beautiful and immaculately kept. They have a large selection of gown, (I think about 15 different designers). Their price points and designers are mid-level to higher end. I had my first appoint in March and I took two of my best friends. My sales associates was Debra, she was very nice and very accomodating. I told Debra that my limit was $1800( including all taxes, and misc costs) . Their website said that they have gowns starting at $900, but when I got there I found out that those are generally the sample gowns are you have to be willing to pay upfront for them. Debra was very patient, she showed my a variety of gowns and even let my friends take pictures. I found a gown that I loved, and another gown that my friends loved. Debra advised me not to make a decision and come back for a follow up appt in 2 weeks. Before I left I asked about the prices of the gowns and how much I would have to put down and Debra assured that it would be in my budget. I returned for my follow up appt two weeks later and Debra immediately pulled the gown that my friends liked. I tried it on, and knew it wasn't the dress I wanted. I asked her about the other gown and she went and pulled it. Well I put on my gown and immediately knew it was the one. I told Debra I wanted to purchase and I was astonished to find that the gown I wanted was $2100 without taxes included. This bummed me out. Clearly she assumed that I would purchase the gown that my friends like which was actually in my budget. I only had a portion of the deposit, being that I didn't know the actual price of the gown and I had assumed it wouldn't be over $1800 and FI are not paying for anything on cc's. I explained this to Debra and she got the manager, who allowed me to put down a portion of the deposit with the understanding that I could put down the rest of the deposit in 2 weeks (big plus on their part). She also agreed to take off $200 on the dress, but because I'm under 5'2 required a $120 hallow to hem measurement, so with tax the dress still totaled around $2100. Fast forward September 2009, and my dress is finally here and I'm not 100% happy with it, though this may not be a vendor problem. I will update after I have revisted the store, but it seems like my dress has more beading than the original sample dress and the quality of the lace seems inferior to the sample dress. I can't wholeheartedly give 5 stars because I'm am very concerned with these two issues. Another small point to consider, is that they are very "sell-sy." They tried to push a $475 veil on me, which I thougth was utterly ridiculous as it was just a plain veil with faux pearls sewn on the edges. They also have a pretty expensive alterations charge - $475.

I had an okay experience here. My consultant, Jessica, seemed helpful and picked out a few dresses for me to try on. When we returned from the showroom, after looking at a dress I had on, 3 of the dresses were gone. I ended up only trying on 2, none of which I was interested in to begin with. Jessica provided her contact number to discuss doing a custom dress, of which I later emailed her about. After a week passed and still no response, I emailed her again, and tried to schedule an appointment online. She immediately emailed me stating she would contact me in a few days. I never heard from her since. I called and emailed again have not received any response. I wasted about 3.5 weeks trying to get a hold of someone at Wedding Atelier and made no progress.

I've been searching for the "Amy" shoes by Filippa Scott and found it at Wedding Atelier. I didn't need an appoinment since I was only there for shoes. Of course, when I arrived there the 3 consultants that day were busy, but one of them (Jennifer) was nice enough to help me since she was almost finished with her client. Jennifer was very helpful in giving her input about the different shoes they had in the store. In the end we both agreed on the shoe I came looking for in the first place. It was also nice that she was able to just go online and look up my dress so I can have a better idea if it matched the details on my dress.

I would not recommend this place to anybody!!! I bought my dress, which was a floor sample about 16 months (April 2007) before my wedding. The dress was a Priscilla of Boson that was supposed to have straps, but i had requested to remove the straps to make it strapless. I also explained that I lived out of town, in DC, and was told that removing the straps and living out of town would not be a problem, and they would do everything to accomodate my schedule. The reason I bought my dress here was because of my salesperson. I thought she was really helpful, friendly, and really made my mother and I feel comfortable. We didn't feel any pressure to buy anything there. I had my first fitting 6 months (December 2007) before my wedding. The first fitting went OK. At my second fitting (3 months later - March 2008), the fitter/seamstress was 35 minutes late. She was extremely abrupt, and when I expressed my concern that I felt the dress was slipping, she simply said that it's because I wanted to remove the straps, and the only way to fix it would be to keep the straps. When my bridesmaids and I argued with her, she reluctantly said she could try and take in the dress a little more. I also told her I wanted to get a matching veil. She was extremely abrupt, and made the entire experience very unpleasant. Finally, she disappeared for another half an hour, and there was no one else at the store who was able to help me ring up the purchase of my veil. I had my bridal shower that afternoon, and she almost made me an hour late. I was extremely concerned that my dress wasn't going to fit, so I immediately called the store and scheduled another appointment with my original salesperson, who was also a fitter. When I spoke with her, she suggested some alternatives that the seamstress never suggested, and said that I could come in early before my next fitting (scheduled for 1 month before the wedding-mid-May 2008), and she could help me get dressed and work with the seamstress. I felt somewhat comfortable, but not completely, so a few days later, I tried to call and schedule another appointment in April. I had to call numerous times and leave numerous messages before someone finally called me back to schedule an appointment for the end of April. I was assured that the fitting department would talk to the seamstress and make sure my dress was there. Come April, I came to NY for the sole purpose of getting my dress fitted. When my sister and I showed up, we were told that my sales person and seamstress had been fired, and that my dress wasn't there. I had requested my floor sample dress to be cleaned before the wedding, and they had sent out the dress that week, so my trip from DC to NY was a complete waste. I was then assured by the owner, Carrie Hung that they would be able to solve this problem, and I would only need to have the origianl 2 other appointments. I came back at the beginning of May, and tried on the dress with a new seamstress. This time, we found that because the original seamstress had taken in the dress too much (remember back at the 2nd fitting in March, she wanted to take it in further), so the dress now wrinkled and bulged in places. Also, I still felt that there wasn't enough support and the top of the dress was slipping. The seamstress and Carrie said the solution would be to sew in a bustier. She assured my mother and me (in English and Chinese) that the next time I came back, the dress would have a bustier sewn in, and it would fit. I then received a call the day before my appointment, where she told me that the bustier she wanted to get wouldn't arrive in time, and asked if I had gone to look for other undergarments. Obviously, my mother and I hadn't, because we were under the assumption this would all be finished at the next fitting. She then suggested I go to the lingerie store around the corner from Wedding Atelier. The next day, my parents, my sister and I arrived an hour early at the lingerie store, only to find out that the store had spoken to Carrie the day before and informed her that they didn't carry the undergarments she wanted, and the bustiers they did have wouldn't work. Fortunately for us, they were able to recommend another place that did carry the appropriate undergarments. When I arrived at Wedding Atelier, Carrie wasn't even there, but the seamstress was there, and we were assured that everything would be done, and I could pick up the dress a few days before my wedding in June. Carrie had previously assured me that if I came on Saturday, they would be able to attach the bustier and make the alterations, so that I could try on the dress on Sunday. When I asked the seamstress, she seemed completely astonished, because she said Sunday was their day off. I didn't push the point, and scheduled an appointment for 3 days before my wedding. At my final visit, there were still issues with my dress. The fabric around the waste was pucked and wrinkled because of the bustier had been sewn in, and didn't fit quite well. My parents and I had to wait another 2- 2 1/2 hours for the alterations to be made, before we could take the dress. Carrie also wasn't there that day. Overall I was extremely disappointed with their lack of service and lack of responsibility for all the problems they caused. Instead of 2-3 fitting appointments, I made 5-6 trips from DC to NY for the express purpose of getting my dress altered. In the end, the dress did fit, but there were still minor wrinkles and puckering that we couldn't get rid of. For the amount of money we spend on the dress, alterations, and veil, we expected much better service.

Read less

I had a wonderful experience with wedding atelier. The shop is very nice and clean, you walk in and immediately want to look at all their dresses. They have a very large range of styles and prices and will negotiate doughty with pricing. I loved the fact that they let you look at all their dresses and pick out what you like rather than trusting the sales associate will be able to find your perfect dress.

Wedding Atelier is where you must go to purchase your gown. I didn't know exactly what I wanted, but I trusted the experience and professionalism of Marnie to choose options for me. The gown she thought would be my top choice absolutely was a dream. I wouldn't have chose this dress on my own, but it's the gown I will be wearing on my wedding day!
