Greenhouse Loft hosted our reception. They provided a candle package for a small additional cost which included candles lit along the beams in the space and on the tables. This made the space feel magical. They were also able to secure a room next to their space that had a art exhibit for us to use for our cocktail hour, and did so with out us requesting it which we found extremely thoughtful. Our guests loved being in that space and art pieces provided a lovely backdrop for our photos. They also worked well with the caterer that we chose so the set up for the event went smoothly. We received several comments from our guest throughout the night about how beautiful the space was.

I was thrilled with the way the Greenhouse Loft came out for my wedding. It's a gorgeous space in a close-to-downtown area in Chicago that's very urban, bright, clean and of course, all green. When my finance (now husband) and I selected the venue, the Loft had only held one wedding in the space after being open for 6 months. On our wedding weekend, about 11 months later, they were averaging about 2 weddings every single weekend. It's clear why. The space is a wonderful canvas to bring in any tastes and styles that the bride and groom like.

Since Greenhouse Loft was so new while we were in the planning process, there were definitely some hiccups and inconsistencies that we dealt with as the team was trying to learn their space. We were the biggest sit-down wedding they've had, so there were some difficulties when working out the floor plan to fit everyone. Additionally, a few of our details weren't finalized until a few weeks before the wedding since they were changing their mind a number of times while trying to determine best practices in the space.

In the end, it all worked out and came out beautifully. The owners at the Greenhouse Loft also did all of our photography, which we haven't seen in full, but the couple snapshots we have previewed are amazing. They truly understand the space, lighting and timing for weddings there so they are able to shoot with ease and professionalism. We can't wait to see them and attend another event at the Loft!

Perfect wedding anyone? That is what I had at West Loop Studio this past summer. I do not even know where to begin...I guess at the beginning.

I first came across this space while searching for a venue for my company holiday party. After seeing other loft type spaces in the city, and doing some price comparisons, West Loop blew everyone else out of the water. While ultimately my company did not use this venue for our holiday party, I KNEW that I would want to get married here.

Flash forward to early spring 2010. I took my fiance to check out the space and he loved it. We already knew we wanted a super casual, yet classy wedding in a space that was quintessential Chicago. We live in the West Loop and having a wedding in a HUGE, white industrial loft, with beautiful wooden floors and huge windows was exactly what we wanted.

Enter Jamie, the most magical and helpful Studio Manager this side of the Mississippi. As I mentioned, my fiance and I did not want a over the top wedding, with crazy details and structure. We described our wedding as a huge party with our friends and family, that we just happen to be getting hitched at. Well Jamie totally got the vision. Having been married in the space herself, she really understands and can help translate your vision into a beautiful reality. I will be honest, I did not have a huge plan for what I wanted, I basically told her black and white, simple and candles. And lots of colorful wild flowers. Jamie made it happen. After we picked out our caterers ( shout out to the Hearty Boys!!!!!), Our DJ ( What's up Carrie from Toast & Jam) our florist ( Lynn at Pollen) and our photographer (Bridgette at Outer Focus Photos) we were set. Our vendors coordinated with Jamie and the next time we met up was about 2 weeks before the wedding. We went over final details, made a loose floor plan, and that was it. Jamie also has great ideas for decorating the space. We DI NOT want to have a slide show at our wedding, but did want to share some photos of us with our guests. Jamie suggested hanging the photos on this huge white wall with twine. so guests could look at them while sipping on drinks from the high boy tables against the wall. This was a huge success.

I think I should interject that I was a very laid back bride. I have seen to many episode of Bridezilla to freak out about anything that had to to with our wedding. If you are a bride and are reading this, remember, it is JUST ONE DAY. No one will care if you have napkins with your wedding date engraved on it or if you have elaborate center pieces. Let it go. Just have fun.

THE BIG DAY: I showed up via a taxi to the space about an hour before the guests were to arrive. My sexy fiancee was already there with our families. Jamie had everything under control, and was so kind when my extended family was milling around in the space while things were being set up. We went outside for some photos and then came inside to start the party. While it was not SUPER hot outside, the space was so cool. We had 130 guests and it was the perfect space. We started out with a cocktail party, so our guests could all loosen up a bit, had a quickie ceremony and then opened up the dance floor and grazing stations for eating. And the night progressed. Perfectly. We had so many people come up to us telling us this was the coolest wedding they have ever been too. It was the wedding many people wanted ( but their parents would not let them have.....whoops). We were lucky that our family knew this was our day, and let us do what we wanted. It was a true reflection of us.

Jamie is on hand at your wedding, checking in with the caterers, as well as the bride and groom. One bonus of West Loop is they have a door man ( free of charge) that greets guests and helps with parking. He also helped guests that could not walk up the stairs to a service elevator. And he stayed there for the entire event!

So , if this review has not convinced you to do business with West Loop Studio, then you must be one disgruntled panda. I wish I could get married every year at West Loop, because the experience was flawless.

The West Loop Studio was the perfect venue for our May 15, 2010 Wedding Ceremony and Reception. Jamie and Steve are a dream to work with, and made for a very stress free planning process. They were incredibly flexible getting us in to see the space & plan the details, as well as customizing a package that worked perfectly for what we needed. You can make this loft space your own, and it is the perfect place for a city wedding with your closest friends and family. Jamie's vendor recommendations were fabulous, and I can't say enough about her beautiful photographs of our reception. I would highly recommend.

The loft space is a nice space and provided a blank canvas for our party. It's split between two adjacent areas which are open to each other. This allowed for a socializing and eating in one area and a dance floor in the other. With all the furniture and decoration, it was exactly what we had wanted.

The photography is great and we have loved looking back on our photos. Jamie who does the photo journalism type photography of the entire event is an excellent photographer. We didn't hire a videographer and nor do we regret making that decision. She captured snap shots of the entire event. most of the time I didn't even notice her being there. Steve will take photos in the portrait studio which was great for everyone. All of our friends and family were able to have their picture professionally made and they can go online and order a print. Much better than renting a photo booth.

I worked with Jamie, the event coordinator at West Loop Studio and she was wonderful. Very helpful and accommodating. She helped me to come up with ideas for decorating the beautiful space and was flexible about using some of the studio's own mid-century modern furniture to give it the look we were going for. I was very happy with how it turned out. West Loop Studio used to have an amazing view of the city skyline, until a neighboring lot started to build condos. I was SO appreciative and impressed that Jamie told me that this was going to happen before I signed the contract so that I was fully aware of what I was getting and not getting. I'm so happy we used West Loop Studio - the venue was perfect and it did not matter that we did not have the downtown view.

The ladies at West Loop were wonderful, very down to earth and friendly. All questions were responded to quickly. And even though the price went up in between our venue viewing and final decision, they quickly changed it back to the original price for our contract. The day before the ceremony they were very gracious about me coming in with my family to get all the flowers together and drop off other decorations. The day of they assisted people with directions for parking and public transport.

The venue itself was perfect for a somewhat non-traditional wedding- tall windows allowing a nice view of the Chicago skyline in one direction and a small neighborhood to another, beautiful wood floors and high ceilings, and a nice L-shape to set off the ceremony/dancing area from the tables.
