This was the Westin Hotel in Lombard. They sent me an e-mail stating I would get a survey, but they never sent it to me, and I suspect it is because they know I will give them poor ratings.

The ballroom was gorgeous, which sold us on the venue. My problems occurred during the planning process. We booked about a year and a half in advance, and at that time, I signed a hotel room block for ten rooms, b/c I didn't know who we were even going to invite yet. They said I would be able to add on rooms if I wanted. Nine months before, I tried to add on to my room block, but they said they were all sold out. They were able to add five rooms for the night before, but that was it. My family was spread out among three hotels. Not flexible at all! My husband is a physician and was working during their tasting times. They said they couldn't change the time, so he wasn't able to try the food, and they said they weren't allowed to give us food to try. They changed my dress rehearsal date without telling me, and I only discovered this when I was calling to confirm the date. The day before my wedding, I found out that my vendors would have very little time to set up (as they had two other conferences and wedding that night), and when I called because I was concerned, I received a condescending response that they knew what they were doing, and I should be "grateful" that they were able to fit my wedding in between two conferences. On the day of, they changed the location of my family pictures (suppose to be in the ceremony room b/c I had paid for draping and it was beautiful in there) to their waterwall. Our family did not know to go there, so pictures took extra long to round everyone up. When I ran back into the ceremony room to sign our marriage license, they had already started tearing everything down. They had another event in that room, so they wanted us out of that room as soon as possible. I discovered after the wedding that only 50% of my guests who stayed at the Westin were actually given the out-of-town bag that I had made and dropped off for them.

Ladies, learn from my horrible experience. I loved my wedding day, because it was the day I married my best friend, but the Westin Hotel caused a significant amount of grief. After I signed the contract and gave them our money, we were no longer a priority. In fact, the general manager emphasized that the two conferences brought in thousands and thousands of money... I guess our 350 guest wedding didn't bring them enough money for them to pay attention to us.
