I went to White Toronto for the sample sale. They were beyond amazingly helpful. Even though ten girls were trying dresses on at the same time, each girl was personally being helped. The team worked together without any flaws, making sure each lady was being assisted. Andrea went above and beyond to help me find a unique perfect dress. If you are having trouble finding a dress and need some guidance ask for Andrea at White Toronto!

I got my dress, veil, and alterations done here. They are expensive. Although I think I found the cheapest dress in the store, they treated me very well and listened to my needs and desires.
The alteration work was amazing. At the same time, it was super expensive so I don't know what to say about that. It was pretty ridiculous how much it cost for alterations.
The staff was very knowledgable with the dresses, the designers, and the whole process of buying a dress.
At the same time, it felt rushed during the fittings. That, I did not like. They messed up my veil, but they ended up correcting it without giving me a hard time and/or trying to charge me for the mess up.
They were not fully prepared for my pick-up. They seemed busy and sortof just rushed me out the door. They forgot to include instructions on how to tie the bustle, which is not helpful to you when you are getting married in a couple days. BUT overall, the staff did a great job. Everyone was very kind and helpful, which is the least you should be receiving when you are paying so much for a one-time wear. The cookies there are very good.

I went to White Toronto because it was the only boutique within an hour's drive that sold the Monique L'huillier and Oscar de La Renta dresses I wanted to try on. I emailed them and being about a size 16, I wanted them to be honest up front if they even could order dresses in my size, as they were a little boutique in Yorkville. They responded to my email promptly and assured me that they could help me. I went in with my dad and as soon as I stepped into the front door I saw one of the dresses and hated it. Then I turned around, as we had to wait about 5 minutes for our appointment, and saw the other dress and hated it! (Good thing since each dress was $10,000) Anyhow, I looked at my dad and said,"Well we're here so let's try on some dresses." Please do not be thrown off that I am with my dad. I am 35 years old, finally tying the knot after 9 years with the same person, so I knew what I wanted.....I wanted something light, strapless, A-line, with a zipper and no train, no bling....not the easiest request as things start to not look as wedding-like when they get a bit simple.

Their collection is not extensive but it is well chosen. I would say they had about 100 dresses on site to choose from and perhaps more in the basement, but I'm not sure. So one of the girls showed me one dress by Anne Barge, plain but elegant and POCKETS! I was sold! She suggested I come back to the trunk sale at the end of the month and assured me I would get my dress in time if I ordered by the end of January. I was getting married July 3rd....so I waited and came back to the trunk sale.

**alert: (and this is with almost EVERY smaller boutique)They do not carry sizes above couture 12 or 14 which is a regular 8 or 10. I'm about a 16 so that is really about a 20. At my first visit, I did not try on ANY dresses, just held them up. You may say wow how can you know. And I would agree if it was a mermaid dress or something tight all the way down your body but because it was A-line they were able to open up the dress and wrap it around me for the whole effect.***

When I went back at the end of the month for the trunk show, I was pleasantly surprised as when she opened up the dress, it looked like it may fit. I figured out later that it was a 14 size and I had tried to squeeze myself into another designer's 14 and didn't have a chance so I just didn't even attempt this one but this time I tried and it fit (couldn't do it up but...hey I was happy)....I stepped out and I was sold. It may have been their easiest sale in history! And I got pockets! We had a champagned toast at 11am and wonderful cookies! They gave me a great bag of goodies before I left that day. I had to put down a deposit but only about 30% I think.

So to the price. I know I mentioned $10,000 but this dress was about $2100 and supposedly they have even cheaper dresses. So then I got worried because at every wedding dress boutique I've ever dealt with for bride's maid dresses etc., they have, what I call, fat tax. They need to use SOOOOOOO much extra material to make my dress so I will have to pay anywhere from $25-$100. This was no different of a situation. They had to order me a size 22 :) and they added extra length and they did special measurements as I have an extra long torso, plus the fat tax and regular tax, so I was a bit worried that suddenly I would be paying $3000. Anyhow, with it being the trunk sale they took off 10% and waved the fat fee and however they figured it out, it was exactly $2100 or so with tax. I was so happy. By the way, it's not the boutique that charges the fat tax, it's the designer.

I might add at this point, that all of the staff there were friendly and helpful. They responded to every email I sent them promptly. Appointments were always on time and if they were running late, they offered me coffee, snacks, comfy seat etc. I never did a walk in but why would you??? This is the most important dress of your life! If you walk in and then get pissy that they can't jump to help you, I suggest you go to Rainbow in Hamilton. They have 10 million dresses and work off walk-ins. I loved my experience at White.

Flash forward to the beginning of June, they got me in there asap after the dress arrived. Their seamstress was very competent and friendly and helpful. They had to take the dress in about an inch or so on each side and they cut off the small train so my dress would float on the ground and show off my red shoes! All together I had two fittings and it cost $275. I've heard nightmares of how much it costs for alterations so I was happy and they gave me all the material they cut off. They asked, they didn't just take it! They pressed it beautifully and I had to go in a few days before the wedding to pick it up. They packaged it nicely and appropriately for transport in my car.

My dress was a couture Anne Barge with pockets, pearl colour in silk taffeta. It was stunning! I still can't believe how amazing the fit was and how slim I looked in it. For being a plus girl most of my adult life, they didn't make me feel like that for one moment and I looked and felt like a size 10 on my special day! ;)

To the Girls at White....You rocked my socks! Thank you for turning a curiosity into my dream dress!

I went into White to try on wedding dresses after I found my dream dress at another store and wanted to see if anything compared. The sales associate Lauren was very helpful and patient and in the end she even convinced me to go get my dress from the other store. She told me that once you know, you know and that I would be heartbroken if I went in months later and the dress was discontinued (as most bridal gowns are after their season) and she said she would be happy to help me with any accessories or shoes to go with it once I got it. I was absolutely amazing with the service here and not once did they look down on you for not making up your mind.

I got engaged in late 2007 and already had a dress in mind that I had seen at a local shop. The dress was not a typical wedding dress, so I wanted to make it a little more traditional by adding a veil. Lauren at White Toronto fitted me with several veils until we decided on all elements in order to have it custom made. While all of the wedding dresses at White Toronto were pretty traditional and high end, Lauren and the other girls loved my fun little dress and were really supportive about me coming in with a dress from another store. The veil turned out beautifully.

We also ordered our bridesmaid dresses from White Toronto, along with matching shawls, and couldn't be more pleased with the outcome!

White Toronto is the most beautiful and chic bridal attire store I have ever seen!!! From the minute I stepped inside, not knowing if I would even buy anything, Lauren Hayward, the sales assistant assigned to me, treated me with respect, patience and professionalism. The dresses I tried on began at $5000+ but Lauren did not try to pressure me at any point, nor did she try to make me feel bad for trying on such expensive dresses. She gave me lots of time to think, and gave me lots of good information regarding the dresses, materials and matching accessories. She even gave me tips where to find the right undergarments and such to go with the dresses. I ended up purchasing a Monique Lhuillier gown from the store, and Lauren kept me in check of when I had to come in for fittings, and reminded me what I needed to bring each time. She was a genuine pleasure to work with! When my dress had to be fitted, the seamstress talked me through all the changes and did a really stellar job making the dress fit me perfectly. When I picked up my dress, they even included a goody bag with some last minute helpful items for brides i.e. bridal dress sticky tape (for any wedding mishaps!), a white swiss army knife, a beautiful little letterpressed card "to my groom", and a gift certificate at a reputable gown preservation and cleaning store. I couldn't be happier with this store!

Some advice: It is a very busy! You'll need to call and book your first appointment to see dresses, and they may take a while to get back to you, but they will for sure. They will give you one hour at your first appointment, and this is really only enough time to try on 6-7 dresses. If you didn't get to try on as many as you wanted, make a follow up appointment before you leave. Also, get used to leaving messages for them on their answering machine. Most times, the girls who work there are too busy attending to people that they will not answer the phone. Lastly, there's a bridesmaid's loft on the top floor, and while I only bought my wedding dress from them, it's a beautiful little place to bring your bridesmaids for the day.
