My husband and I immediately wanted to work with Cay Lemon of Zest Productions after our first meeting. She was very endearing, funny, focused, and professional from the start, and we knew that she would be able to help us plan our "Dream Wedding." Cay is very organized and kept in constant contact with us throughout the months. She knew and suggested excellent vendors for us and understood our budget. Cay was very open to our ideas and helped them turn into a reality. She always made us feel like a priority no matter the months ahead. At the day of the wedding, I knew that everything would work out perfectly knowing that it was in the hands of Cay and her staff. At the end of the night, it was so hard to say good-bye and it was even harder to not thank her enough! When I get married again, I will most definitely call up Cay! Hehehehe....

I had a pretty short engagement (6 months) and chose to tie the knot on a holiday weekend. Luckily enough the only vendor that we had a hard time securing was our Wedding Planner. Cay Lemon of Zest Productions was recommended to us by two other Wedding Planners in the area who were unavailable for our date. When I first contacted (phone) Cay she was very agreeable, and I felt that she completely shared my vision of how I imagined that they day would go. My mom met her the next day and immediately liked her and they put together a contract. With hindsight I can see that she was a very very good saleswoman. Soon after we started working together the crack started to show in her work. She was only helping us to find 3 vendors, a florist, transportation to and from the wedding site, and a bounce house for all of the kids (OK, and for me too!). She had a really big problem with each of these tasks. To get the bouncy house she placed 4 separate 1 hour phone calls to me while at work. She misquoted the transportation by 100%, so when my mom went down to pay for it she was absolutely shocked with the bill. And finally, she kept giving us excuses with the florist, so that two weeks before the big day nothing had been planned and I finally put my foot down and had to ask her what was going on with it, and she told me that she had a great florist who would do it (mind you there really aren't too many options left 2 weeks before the wedding). I 100% believe that the florist was her friend, and that she had us wait so long so that there wouldn't be any other options. She also completely ignored what my mother had said was the floral budget, and really was not an advocate for us at all in this process. My favorite "Cay" moment though was when she called me at work to complain about having to work with my future mother in law on the rehearsal dinner, and was really unprofessional.
With a few days to go to the big day my mom and I both hoped that she would pull through for us. Unfortunately she didn't. The only stress that I had at my wedding was from her. She was screaming around the house, and loudly/rudely interrupted the Bedeken ceremony which happens with the immediate family right before the big wedding ceremony. She did not follow the time line that had been set out, and put my parent in uncomfortable situations on several times, like when she told our guests who were seeking shade from the bright sun that "Carol" my mom did not want them there (around the pool) and that they needed to go back and stand in the sun in the designated cocktail area. For the record my mom is one of the most laid back people ever, and what she wants is for her guests to be comfortable, and that it really didn't matter where the guests stood. She also decided to make herself the MC during the toasts and would not give the mic to my father to welcome his guests (he was totally sober mind you). As if things weren't bad enough, Shaun and I did not get to eat dinner as most people don't get to at their wedding. Right before we were supposed to leave to our hotel she told me that the caterer had put together a few plates of food for us, and that she, Cay was going to put them in the trunk of the town car for us to enjoy at the hotel. After we had left the party in our "grand exit" I had the driver pull over because I wanted to make sure that there was indeed dinner for us (I was starving at midnight!), and I knew that we were going to a hotel in a very remote area, and that they did not offer room service that late at night. Hmmm, no dinner in the back? So for our big day dinner Shaun and I went to the only open place in our neck of the woods, the Taco Bell drive thru. It only got better when after checking into our hotel and starting to do what you are supposed to do on your honeymoon we hear a knock on our suite door. Who do you think it was? Cay trying to deliver our dinner after she realized that she forgot it, I can't imagine what inspired her to drop by someone's honeymoon at 1AM. Absolutely avoid at all costs!

I had the COMPLETE OPPOSITE experience as the bride who gave Cay a "0.0", and feel like I need to share my experience in order to give a fair portrayal of Zest Productions. Cay Lemon is the BEST and will not let you down on your special day!

A friend recommended Cay to me and my husband. The second we met her, we hit it off and could tell that she was genuine, creative and shared our vision for our wedding. Throughout the planning process she was incredibly helpful, supportive, and always available with a kind word and an honest opinion. I am not a Bay Area native, and my parents live in Georgia, so finding a great wedding planner was a must. Not only did my husband and I love working with Cay, but my mom also loved working with her as well. Cay encouraged my mom to share any ideas and opinions; and even though my mom was almost 3,000 miles away, she felt like she was included in all of the planning process. Without Cay, my mom and I would have had no idea where to begin looking for reputable vendors. Cay made it so easy and stress-free.

My parents and I wanted to keep to a pretty strict budget, and we were upfront with Cay about it from the beginning. She found the best vendors within our price range, and helped us find more ways of saving money. She is a kind and caring person who would never scam a bride into spending more money than they want. I had absolutely no surprises on costs, because I was upfront with Cay and the vendors, and read every contract to make sure.

All of the vendors we used already knew Cay (she has been in the wedding planning business in the Bay Area for 20+ years). EVERY vendor, when I told them who my planner was, all had the same reaction "Cay Lemon, she's the best! We are so happy to work with her again." The florist we used is a good friend of my father-in-law's and has been in the floral business for 15+ years, and does the flowers for some of the nicest events at Stanford. He was talking with my father-in-law and inquired if we were going to hire a wedding planner. My father-in-law replied yes, but since we had only decided to work with Cay the day before, he did not know her name. The florist said to him "Tell them to use Cay Lemon. She is the best." I think that simple statement is such a true representation of Cay's work: She is the best. It's a genuine testament to who Cay is as a person and as a wedding planner that so many people want to work with her time and time again. Every vendor she recommended and endorsed was extremely professional and delivered the highest level of quality.

Because Cay has been planning weddings for so long in the area, she knows all the best vendors, and if she recommended them, I had NO hesitations using them. (In fact, the one recommendation I did not follow of hers was the only vendor that let us down in performance. My mistake!! I should have listened to Cay!)

The rehearsal and the wedding itself went on without a single hitch. Everything was perfect and ran so smoothly. I never once had to think about who was doing what/when/where--Cay had organized the entire day so that my husband, my mom, and I all were free to enjoy the day. She kindly moved the guests along to where they needed to be, and all of the guests remarked how kind she was while also maintaining the highest level of professionalism. She interacted with all the vendors on the day of the wedding, so I did not have to make a single decision except "I do" :-)

My husband and I had food in the car, although we didn't need it--I must be one of the rare brides who made a point to sit down and eat at my wedding! My husband and I have remained in contact with Cay. Over the course of planning our wedding, we became good friends with Cay and enjoy spending time with her (whenever she is not busy with weddings!)

It has been 7 months since the wedding, and Cay has continued to help us--even though we had chosen our own photographer, she is helping us straighten out the ordeal. Cay could very easily choose to not help us since it is so long after the wedding (and it was our own choice), but she cares about her brides and wants them to be happy on the day of their wedding, and after. She has helped me and my husband work out our photography fiasco with as much kindness, patience, and service as she did when we were planning the wedding. I HIGHLY recommend Cay Lemon to anyone who is getting married in the Bay Area (and I also highly recommend following her suggestions for vendors and not finding them on your own!)

Cay was wonderful and patient working with me and my husband, balancing our individual needs and desires with a joint vision of the day. We were able to plan a beautiful and enjoyable event for everyone, especially US. I felt very cared for and calm as we moved from one thing to the next. We have had many friends remark that our wedding was the best that they had ever attended. I know Cay's guidance, resources, enthusiasm and passion, helped to make our special day a wonderful lasting memory.
