Real Wedding - Amy + Tim
Posted on December 8th, 2008 by Margaret. Filed under Real Weddings.
This week’s real wedding of the week is a stunning city affair held in the heart of San Francisco. The beautiful bride Amy, also known on Project Wedding as amkbrown, generously shared her fabulous wedding images with us and I could not be happier to see her vision become realized in such a beautiful and effortlessly graceful way. As always, here is just a taste of the gorgeous images that you will find in the entire editorial of Amy and Tim’s real wedding.

And now, some words from Amy (amkbrown), the beautiful bride…
Believe it or not, Tim & I met at a local bar in San Francisco. Doesn’t happen very often that a conversation at a bar leads beyond that. But we hit it off immediately & found that we even had a few mutal friends. So we think eventually we would have met somehow! Our wedding took place in San Francisco where we live - at at historic chapel (Chapel of our Lady) & the Officers Club in the Presidio - both dating back to the late 1800’s. It was one of those beautiful San Francisco days where you really appreciate where you live. The weather was amazing & the sky was clear as day.
The venues were warm, cozy, unique & intimate. The chapel has a glass window from the floor to the ceiling in the back looking out to the woods in the Presidio. It fits about 150 people, so it felt perfect for our 110 guests. The Officers Club have these amazing old rustic chandeliers & dark wood beams throughout the ballroom & a fireplace in the back which make for a perfect cozy & romantic environment.
Tim & I exchanged personally written vows & used non-traditional music for our ceremony. We are true lovers of all music & wanted to use something more unique than the usual wedding march. Our parents walked into an instrumental version of Elton John’s “Your Song”, our bridesmaids walked into an instrumental verson of U2’s “One” and I walked into Isreal Kamakawiwo’ole “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” Our recessional was Stevie Wonder’s “Signed Sealed Delivered” which was really fun

I basically planned the entire wedding myslef & I loved every minute of it. I did a ton of research on different vendors, the best deals & unique & interesting ways to personalize our wedding. Our colors were berry, gold & brown - with some hits of dusty rose.
Tables:
- the long tables were a huge hit…not many people had been to a wedding with them & everyone liked the sort of “harry potter’s great hall” feel to it!!
- every place setting had a menu tucked inside a berry colored napkin that matched with our invitations & programs. My stationer was amazing & designed them so I could just print them out at home & save some $$. We also had placecards (assigned seating) that were done in beautiful calligraphy at each setting along with champagne that had raspberries floating in it to match the color scheme.
- our table #’s were pictures of tim & I at every age…I got a ton of compliments on them - they were really fun to look at.
- by the dance floor we had “tired feet?” baskets with flip flops for the ladies.Flowers/Decor
- the lighting in the room was done by the caterers (just a few simple uplights & pin spots on the cupcake table) that really added a huge impact without a lot of $$.
- the decor was fairly simple - I wanted LOTS of candles & great ambiance.
- the centerpieces were tall curly willows with dusty colored orchids wired throughout. We also re-used our ceremony arrangements & pomanders for the tables as well as the bridesmaid bouquets to fill in. The other smaller centerpieces were curly willows wrapped in a low vase & a floating dahlia.
- the brides’s bouquet was made up mostly of dahlias
- the bridesmaids bouquets were made up of garden roses, hydrangeas, dahlias & orchids. A mix of berry & pink colors.Food:
- we went with the cupcakes instead of a traditional cake - I actually made the bride & groom toppers myself! A la the “ann wood birds”. I went to a craft store & bought supplies & sewed them together. It was a long project but I loved how they turned out.
- we also served late night mini burgers & fries to guests in leiu of favors. We’re finally married & the entire planning process of the wedding was so fun for me. Not many brides say that so I might be a little crazy I guess, but I did love it.
Congratulations again, Amy and Tim! And thank you so much for sharing your real wedding with us!
