The couple, Cammeo and Grant, lived in NYC but decided to get married in Roanoke where Grant’s family is from. The entire wedding weekend was centered on their wonderful family and friends, some of whom flew from overseas to come to the wedding…

* Tea Time

I have to say this bridal shower tea party theme is the most adorable thing ever! I am not usually a tea party kind of girl, but this is so refreshing, happy and gorgeous. Brilliant photographer Alice Hu shared the pics she took at this recent event. Don’t you love the bright color choices?

* A Blue and Violet Wedding by Thai Mai Photography

I spotted this blue and violet wedding and thought the couple and their story was so inspiring. Even though their real wedding is coming up, they held an impromptu wedding in January for the bride’s father, who was very ill.

This wedding was photographed by Thai Mai Photography, and Thai was kind enough to share some details of the couple’s big day…

Yen and Bobby had initially contacted me on November 24th, 2009 for their wedding in early January 2010! They didn’t have a date set yet because they were still trying to nail down an opening at the church.

This was truly a surprise. Well I found out that their REAL wedding was on July 31, 2010. This impromptu wedding in January was for Yen’s father. She told me that her father was very ill and that he may not be around in July. Unfortunately I am already booked for another wedding in July because I would’ve loved have been there for part 2.

After a few emails in the following weeks, Yen and Bobby was able to set a date and we proceeded with planning their wedding day.

But by this time, we were in December already and with the holidays coming up, we didn’t have a chance to do their e-session. It was decided to do their e-session AFTER their wedding. Like most photographers, I would’ve preferred to do the e-session before the wedding so that the couple would feel more comfortable with my style and personality to bring out their best on the day of the wedding.

With these two, it’s not really needed. As you will see from wedding pix, they were naturals in front of the camera. If it was possible, I would love to share their e-pix as well because, they were unbelievable!

* This Weekend: Festive ‘Jarfaits’!

The inspired ideas just never stop coming! Fruit parfaits are a great treat, especially in summer, so why not take it up a notch and give your guests “jarfaits!” Nesting Newbies created the clever dessert/favor idea.

The online mag also came up with several different varieties of jarfaits, including S’more Peanut Butter (which includes chocolate pudding, peanut butter mousse, graham cracker crumbs and toasted marshmallows). My favorite? The Scarlet O’ My, which includes red velvet cake, strawberry cream cheese mousse, strawberry jam and white chocolate shavings.
