* What I’m Grateful For…

Posted on August 31st, 2010 by Margaret. Filed under Things we heart.

I’m not sure how many people know the humble origins of Project Wedding. My husband (then fiance) Joe and I were talking about completely random things really late at night. Back then we were in full fledge wedding planning mode and both extremely excited and stressed out at the same time. Out of nowhere we got the idea to start a website where people could help each other plan their weddings. We envisioned a place where people can share their honest opinion and recommend to each other only the BEST wedding vendors, and share tips and picture inspiration with each other to help plan the wedding of their dreams. We were super excited about it and started dreaming up the details of Project Wedding the very next morning!

Three years later and I couldn’t have even DREAMED that our little wedding site would grow so much. From the first day with less than 10 visitors (including me, Joe, my two sisters, and my childhood best friend Kristen, our friend and co-founder Srini, and Srini’s mom)… to about 1 million monthly unique visitors today. The entire purpose and reason we started Project Wedding was to help people, and seeing people keep coming to our little website makes me hope that we did indeed reach our goal – to help people plan the event that marks the beginning of the rest of their lives. Stuff like this touches my heart.

* Whitney Smith Pottery

Posted on August 31st, 2010 by Margaret. Filed under Things we heart.

Whitney Smith makes the most adorable cupcake stands ever. I bought one for my sister Kathy who makes handcrafted desserts for weddings and bridal showers. There are lots of new cute designs in her shop now! Hmm… my sister’s birthday IS coming up in a few months…

* Sweet Tarts

If you are a fruity sort of goddess – and live for things like fresh strawberries, raspberries or blueberries, take a look at this sweet little project – the tart table! I think this is so adorable and a yummy idea for a shower or party. Could the tart table takeover the mini cupcake trend? Not sure, but tarts and pies are wonderful alternative idea.

* Homemade Honeymoon Suite

Yes, you read that right.  If you haven’t seen this amazing DIY wedding featured around the web… well.. do check it out, it’s quite extraordinary.

My favorite part, however… is the homemade honeymoon suite… a canvas bell tent that they put on a cliff overlooking the sea.  How utterly romantic.

* Dreaming of a Wedding …

Posted on August 27th, 2010 by Jeannie. Filed under Wedding Dress.

One thing I did not expect through the wedding planning process was for this event to creep into my state of slumber! I guess it makes sense, since it seems 95.6% of my life’s focus are on these upcoming nuptials, but I still find it humorous!

I have had many dreams about the wedding, and usually they are a little scary (not ‘Nightmare on Elm Street’ creepy, but anxiety-related). The first one was where I was in some big estate, running from run to room, trying dresses on that kept slipping off or just didnt fit at all, meanwhile, the guests were all waiting for me to walk down the aisle. The next dream I remember had me breaking my “knee” – not sure how one does that but the bad news was I would be wearing a leg cast for the wedding.

Have you been dreaming of your wedding?  Would love to hear about it!

* A Breakfast Bridal Shower

Posted on August 25th, 2010 by Kate. Filed under bridal shower.

Speaking of showers… Our friend Dionne sent over this fun, kitschy breakfast bridal shower that she planned for her sister!  Dionne has the cutest ideas…. Check out her blog, City of Dionne, to see more of her work and say hi.

My favorites are the vintage toasters and the french toast kebabs.  The bottom right photo is of the creative genius herself, Dionne, and her sister, Karla.  Cute cute cute!  See how she pulled off this adorable event here.
