‘Just My Two Cents…’

Posted on August 11th, 2010 by Jeannie. Filed under Reception.

I am excited about getting married, I really am … let me just say that first! I feel lucky and happy and all of that wonderful stuff. What I am struggling with (still) is the many opinions about the day, the night and how the event should be. I want the reception to be fun, like a big celebration without  mr. dj sort of orchestrating the night. I am not doing the bouquet toss … or the multiple mandatory dances. Well, maybe.

It seems some family members are not too thrilled about my free spiritedness about the event, and they are happy to let me know about it. My comeback these days? Simple: ”It’s MY wedding.” That is the point of this post. I have already conceded many different points ( and originally wanted a really small affair). So stick to your guns ladies and remember, it is YOUR day. Celebrate it the way YOU want to. Wear whatever you want to. Have the event wherever you please. Cheers!

    First, congratulations!

It is indeed YOUR wedding and you should celebrate the way you want to! Weddings these days truly are a reflection of the bride and groom. Who cares if Aunt Sally was upset you didn’t do the bouquet toss? The most important part is that at end of the night, you and the groom are happy (and married!) :)

You are right! Don’t have any regrets. Celebrate the way YOU want and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! Have a great wedding and don’t let anyone get ‘cha down! Take care…

I know just how you feel. We’re doing a much different wedding than what we had originally wanted because of our families opinions. There are some traditions that just aren’t important to the two of us and we’re cutting them out, not everyone is happy with our choices, but from here on out we’re sticking with what we really want. We’ll remember all of the details and that’s what is important.

In a wedding everyone should have a say in it, but its up to the bride for what happens.
