* A Pennsylvania Wedding by Michelle King Photography
Posted on August 2nd, 2010 by Margaret. Filed under Real Weddings.
I love the traditional classic feel of this Pennsylvania wedding, shot by the very talented Michelle King. It brings back memories of my college years in New England…
I just love the images of the bride in her dress. She looks like the perfect mix between high society and classic beauty. And as luck would have it, the lovely couple, Teryn and Derek, were kind enough to share some details…
Moving, fun, tearful, delicious, joyful… we could go on and on, but in short we couldn’t have asked for a more spectacular wedding day. Waking up early, we decided to meet for coffee for a quiet moment together before the big day got underway. It was a wonderful last little “date” as two single people! The weather rain held out at just the right moments, and the misty air provided an amazing pink and purple haze in the sky at sunset.
The ceremony was a traditional one - organ, violin and trumpet playing Handel and Bach, and two of the bridesmaids performed a duet from the balcony. The beautiful service was performed by Rev. Charles Blair who taught us both in high school where we met (but didn’t actually start dating until 8 years later!) Afterwards, we walked just up the hill to the reception site at Cairnwood and boogied down until 10 pm when a limo arrived and whisked us away to St. Lucia! (Well actually, a plane whisked us off the next morning at 6:00 am…) The Bride has family ties to the founders and owners of Cairnwood, which made it a very intimate and unique venue for their wedding. To make things even MORE personal, the bride wore a beautiful vintage yellow sapphire and diamond pendant which was borrowed from her grandmother, and it hung on a string of pearls which belong to her mother. Her father had a custom designed pair of tear drop diamond earrings made just for her on her wedding day.
The cake! How can you get married in the Philadelphia area and NOT have a cake that resembles the LOVE park’s LOVE sign?!
It’s hard to put into words the most important day of our lives thus far, but what made it so incredibly special is that we were surrounded by hundreds of our friends and family members, and seeing all the joy and excitement on everyone’s faces as witnesses to our marriage. And of course the celebration would not have even happened if it weren’t for the amazing professional help that we had! Though everyone says the day goes by in a blur, in the blink of an eye, we could not have had a more memorable and
special day to begin our life together.
