* Seeing Green
Posted on November 12th, 2010 by Kate. Filed under Favors, Flowers, Wedding Inspiration.
Our eco-expert, Tracy DiNunzio, just sent over some great tips for making green wedding planning choices- all the while saving some green! So if you’re looking for ways to budget better– read more here. In the meantime, here are some gorgeous photos from a real green wedding on an organic farm– plus some of our other favorite green goods!
Robin and Ken wed at Highland Springs Resort in Cherry Valley, California. Robin is a botanist and Ken is a Biology professor; the two celebrated their love of nature and for each other with an exquisite wedding that was easy on the planet. The day was photographed by Los Angeles-based photographer, Desi Baytan, and coordinated by LaDawn Williams. The all-organic florals were designed and provided by Irises Designs.
One easy way to create less impact on the environment is to be mindful when choosing your wedding favors. You can find eco-friendly wedding favors in our shop! Use coupon code: 5206TEN for 10% off any favor order between now and November 13, 2010.
Other planet-friendly favor options include making a donation in lieu of favors, giving guests tree seedlings in support of the Arbor Day Foundation, or purchasing pink ribbon wildflower seed cards in support of young women living with breast cancer.
Whichever way you spin it… a little bit of thought can go a long way! Read more about saving money by planning green here.
* Sweet Favor Friday
Posted on November 12th, 2010 by Jeannie. Filed under Favors.
A friend was asking me about making favors for an intimate bridal shower … and I kept coming back to edible goodies, homebaked tokens and things like that. I directed her to a site called Sprinkle Bakes and specifically, these tasty treats:
Mini-Doughnuts: Adorable and yummy! Put them into little individual boxes and you are good to go!
Pink Snowball Cakelettes:
You cannot go wrong with macarons placed gently in a little box either …
I also love the idea of candied apple favors:
Thank you to Sprinkle Bakes for the inspiration!

* Things I Heart Today…
Posted on November 10th, 2010 by Jeannie. Filed under Do It Yourself, Favors, Things we heart.
I just love perusing through my fave list of brilliant blogs! I am continually inspired and amazed at all of the creative people out there, and this week I am loving…
This advent calendar in a suitcase! How sweet would this idea be for a winter bridal shower favor theme? Thank you City Cradle Design for sharing this!
This cupcake liner garland is too precious, created by the lovely ladies from Party Perfect. It also seems simple enough to make and a budget-friendly decorating option.
Finally, I am always in awe of graphic designer Erin Jang’s wedding invites. Delish!
* Real Wedding: Christy + Kyle
Posted on November 9th, 2010 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.
Speaking of Tori Spelling’s vibrant yellow vow renewal- I just love yellow. Christy and Kyle infused their laid-back wedding with a yellow and brown color story and vintage and handmade accents. The day - photographed by Brenton Salo- was cheerful and playful! Enjoy the photos and get a glimpse of the vintage typewriter guestbook down below!
‘Kyle and I met a little over two years ago while on the dance floor of a local Portland, Oregon dance club during funk Friday. I had gone out alone, the only time in my life I took myself out dancing, with no intent of even talking to anyone. I really just wanted to get my groove on. While dancing with my eyes closed, Kyle snatched my glasses from my face and replaced them with his own. It was a strangely charming way to get my attention, and we ended up dancing the rest of the night away together. Within a little over a year we were madly in love and engaged, and the date we chose to get married on was the two year anniversary of the night that we met.
Over the course of ten months, Kyle and I were able to plan every aspect of our wedding. We mixed both modern and vintage elements to create a charming and fun day for ourselves and our guests. We a took a do-it-yourself approach to all of the details. Kyle, a graphic designer, made the save the dates, the invitations and our wedding website. I, being a lover of all things crafty, took a metalsmithing class so that I could make Kyle’s wedding band as well as the bridesmaids earrings. I also collected vintage flower brooches for months that I turned into my bouquet using a variety of craft store items.
At the reception we covered an entire wall (12′x25′!) with ribbon, and for two months before the big day I spent evenings cutting ribbon to the exact length of the wall to make hanging easier. Our favors were also handmade; I cut fabric with pinking shears and made them into satchels that held local coffee beans. One final fun element was a vintage typewriter that was used as a guestbook. I now have some amazing well-wishes to frame and hang on our wall.
The wedding day itself was a blast! The ceremony took place in a downtown city park, and nearly 100 of our closest friends and family showed up to celebrate with us. A fleet of pedicabs (bicycle rickshaws) then picked up the entire wedding party, and we rode in style seven blocks to our reception hall. The wonderful Ace Hotel has an event space, The Cleaners, and it was here we ate fabulous hors d’oeuvres from their restaurant, The Clyde Common. The champagne flowed, and guests danced the night away to a local funk DJ, Eric Hedford (aka DJ Aquaman), who was the same DJ we had met dancing to. It was a raucous good time, and we truly could not have asked for a more special and fun-filled day.
When we planned the wedding, the hope was for a semi-traditional yet laid back vibe. I honestly believe that we achieved this goal, because months later guests are still telling me what a fun wedding we had. After a month long honeymoon and getting back into the groove of our lives we are happier than we ever have been!’ -Christy
* Tori Spelling’s Sunny Renewal Soiree
Posted on November 8th, 2010 by Jeannie. Filed under Color Palettes, Things we heart.
Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott celebrated their union with a very special renewal ceremony — and my fave bake shop, Sweet and Saucy, was in the house! Their color palette? Sunny yellow and cool grey. There are so many thoughtful touches and the day held a very hip, modern feel. The perfect pics are from famous photog Elizabeth Messina. The couple originally wed on the beach without family or friends in attendance- so this was a great way for them to honor their marriage and get to enjoy with those near and dear to them. Loving Tori’s short dress and the monochromatic theme as well.

This week’s Real Wedding is so gorgeous; the bride paired damask accents with a sugarplum color story! Charity and Romben’s modern wedding took place at a picturesque California vineyard. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the beautiful imagery, see the full editorial feature here. Photos by the lovely Alice Hu.

I absolutely admire so many elements of this Philadelphia wedding, captured by super-talented Katie Stoops! Held at the Colonial Dames, I love the minimalist approach, the fall color palette, the interesting flower arrangements, the fingerprint sign in, and the cheesecake desserts. Lovely!
