* A Sweet Southern Wedding
Posted on January 11th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.
I received these photos from Paper Antler Photography (formerly Jonathan Hoffner Photography) and I just adored Michelle and Barrett’s sweet Southern style. The wedding was set in Birmingham, Alabama, where the couple said their vows in the church, then headed to a beautiful mansion with a wrap-around porch for the party! The decor was classic- very Martha- featuring a pink, peach, and navy color palette. Thanks to Paper Antler for sending these over!

* Real Wedding: Erica + Justin
Posted on January 10th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.
I just fell in love with Erica and Justin’s wedding… they are such a gorgeous couple and they had a totally lovely wedding. The two met at work and became fast friends. After getting moved to different departments, they knew they would have to see each other outside of work. About two years later, Justin proposed on a boat coasting the Newport Harbor! They celebrated at the San Diego Zoo with a romantic, vintage-inspired reception. The stunning photographs were captured by Anjuli Paschall.

* DIY: A Silver Leaf Tray
Posted on January 6th, 2011 by Jeannie. Filed under Do It Yourself.
Metal leaf, which comes in gold, silver, copper and other tones can be used to give a realistic metal luster to a range of objects you might want to incorporate in your wedding decor. This inexpensive serving tray is renewed with a silver leaf finish. Here’s the how-to from Olivia over at A Field Journal:
Most craft stores carry all the materials needed for metal leafing. You will need sheets of metal leaf (they come in gold, silver, copper and other color variations), a brush-on metal leaf adhesive, and metal leaf sealer (these come in both brush-on and spray-on varieties). For application you will need a soft brush - both a foam brush or a synthetic-bristled brush work fine.
Begin by brushing on a thin, even coat of adhesive. Most adhesives require 30-60 minutes of dry time, before you begin to apply the silver leaf (read the manufacturer’s instructions on your specific adhesive to be sure). When the glue is clear and tacky, you are ready to move onto the next step.
Apply silver leaf by placing it face down on the surface being covered; rub very lightly over the area to be sure the leaf is adhered, then remove the backing paper. If necessary, use a clean, dry brush to smooth down the silver leaf. Apply the next sheet, slightly overlapping the edges. Continue until the surface is completely covered. Brush away any loose silver leaf. Be sure to save any silver leaf remaining on the backing sheets and use to touch up any missed spots.

The final step is to brush on the sealer to protect the new finish. Let dry and enjoy!

* Real Wedding: Charlie + Brian
Posted on January 4th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.
Ah… I have such envy for this couple’s style!…(and for the fact that the bride looks so much like Zooey Deschanel). Charlie and Brian had a most elegant wedding at the Ezell House in downtown Mobile, Alabama. Everything was planned to a T. The venue was perfect, the dress… the decor. All so utterly gorgeous. * A Garden Party
Posted on January 3rd, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.
Meagan and Jared had such a sweet wedding and they incorporated tons of neat ideas. The couple celebrated with a back yard reception filled with handcrafted elements- like doily bunting and pretty DIY centerpieces. The bridesmaids all wore the same skirt with their choice of an ivory blouse- the result was adorable!
The decor was filled with natural greenery, white florals, and pops of orange. At the end of the evening, Meagan and Jared rode off on their brand new bicycles to a bed and breakfast a few blocks away! Enjoy the highlights, and click here to see the full feature. All photos by Natalie Neal.
