Trend Spotting: Save the Date Videos

Posted on February 3rd, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Things we heart.

I’ve had several Save-The-Date videos land in my inbox lately.. and I think it is a super-fun trend.. so I thought I’d share a few cute ones!  If you’re wanting to get creative with saving the date…  think about how lit up your friends and family will be when they watch. ♥

This first one comes from Mallory Berry at MGB Photo:

Maggie and Blair get creative with chalk in this video from Squid & Beard:

Jenn and Ryan announce that they will be each others sweet honey bees:

That last one is also by Mallory over at MGB Photo

My favorite part is always the music… It’s so fun when the lyrics match up just so.. I’m in awe of what genius that must take..

Maggie and Blair are from my town! That’s our free speech monument. A group of volunteers keeps it stocked with chalk and cleans it weekly. Everyone in town loves it! It’s very Charlottesville!

@Jeannine – Ooh, I remember! Visited Charlottesville a few years ago and I enjoyed reading (and writing on!) that huge chalkboard!

These videos are great. Would probably be perfect for our destination wedding. Just need to find someone to do it. :)

Although those particular ones are cute, honestly, if I had save-the-date videos “land in my inbox” I would probably not have time to watch them – particularly at work where we are not supposed to be watching videos.

If that email came with a website I would probably just click the website link, note what the date was, put it in my calendar, boom, done. I don’t really have time to watch these ~cutesy creations~, though I’d be sincerely happy for the couple. Just my $0.02….

These are all very creative. I have to recommend giving this one a watch too(http://vimeo.com/31175466). The couple took a short film approach, black and white, early-60′s inspired and based on a quote from Oscar Wilde. Really impressive acting from non-actors and great camerawork.
