* Fall Friday {A Real Wedding by Paper Antler}

Posted on September 30th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.

Colleen and Nick’s love story is one for the books… and their fall wedding, filled with personal touches. The couple met when Nick, a member of the Geek Squad, was sent out on a routine visit to repair Colleen’s computer.  As soon as Nick saw her, he conveniently prolonged a five minute quick fix into a multiple hour visit.

They married on an October day in Madison, Wisconsin, with falling leaves painting the backdrop. The reception was held at Sardine, a trendy bistro that overlooks Lake Monona.  This is where Nick had proposed.

It was a day of sweet celebration and love.

Happy (almost) One Year Anniversary to Colleen & Nick!

A super special thanks to Jonny and Michelle of Paper Antler for sending these photos over!  If you don’t already know this, I really love the folks over at Paper Antler… not only do they take beautiful, timeless photographs (with that subtle hint of vintage)… but they are also changing the world with their work.

In 2012, Paper Antler will set out to photograph fifty weddings in fifty states, donating $1,000 from each wedding to She Dances, an ‘anti-human trafficking’ organization.  They’re calling it the Fifty Nifty and they’re booking now.  SO, if you’re getting married in 2012 in one of the fifty states.. and you’d like to support this extraordinary effort you can find out more…

Sweet weekend to ya…

A super chic and eco-conscious trend right now is to think seasonally.   What month are you marrying in?  What flowers are blooming?  What fruits are in season?   Organically, a stunning wedding concept can unfold.  Here, Christine Shields and her team of stylists and designers put together a cherry harvest photoshoot, showcasing all the inspiration a season brings… Loving these pleated, layered dresses by Holly StalderAnd a gorgeous paper suite by Paper Bloom Studio

* First Look! Fashion Highlights for 2012

Posted on September 27th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Wedding Dress.

It’s been a whirlwind weekend in the windy city… Dozens of bridal fashion designers unveiled their newest collections for 2012 at the semiannual Chicago Bridal Market.  I was there getting in on all of this unveiling and here’s a first look at some of the highlights!

A patterned fabric gown by Steven Birnbaum.  Ladies, the photo just doesn’t do it justice, this fabric was sooo lovely and the cut, impeccable.  I think this is a nice look for a sophisticated bride who has a little boho-chic running in her blood.

Gorgeous, Green, and Glamorous by Enzoani.  This subtle green stunner stole my heart.  The color, for one, was endearing… the raw cut fabric, edgy.. and that skirt- unforgettable.

Of course not all styles featured that gorgeous trumpet skirt seen in the first two, I also saw a re-emergence of full A-line skirts and ballgowns. Here, a model shows off a two-toned Sophia Tolli number in pewter and white.

Watters and Watters stole the show with their contemporary trends that are utterly wearable.  Above, a silk sheath with a peplum at the waist, and below, a peek at their newest print for bridesmaids!

I thought this Justin Alexander beauty was terribly romantic, and just loved the asymmetrical cascade of organza roses.

And last but not least, layers of dusty violet fabric make for a fashion forward style by Wtoo.  Love, love, love…

Of course there is so much more to show you from this weekend fashion extravaganza!  These are just a few of the photos that I took with my handy dandy SLR.  More to come when we get photos back from our staff photographer!

* Charming Southern Brunch by The Nichols

Posted on September 26th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.

Kristin and John‘s Austin wedding was chock-full of charm and inspiration…  We’re so delighted to share their day with you!  The noontime ceremony and brunch reception were photographed by our favorite Austin-based photography duo, The Nichols.  The couple wed at the Barr Mansion, an exquisite organic event venue on acres of lush green property.  Kristin looked fresh and stunning in a Paloma Blanca ballgown, while the bridesmaids wore violet dresses by J. Crew.  All carried beautiful pink peony bouquets…  We love the way their berry and violet-hued wedding emblem design tied together the color palette and gave that hint of Southern charm.

A warm rainbow of ranunculus gave life to the reception tables inside the Artisan Ballroom, a rustic building with floor to ceiling windows.  Guests were treated to a classic cake, a strawberry torte, and mini herb garden favors.   A sweet congratulations to Kristin and John!  You can see more from their wedding in our gallery!

* Ultra Elegant Museum Wedding

Posted on September 22nd, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.

Abby and Jeff’s Philadelphia wedding was a day of total sophistication…  When we saw the photos, we just couldn’t get enough of the juxtaposition of pewter and deep pinks, the pristine planning that went into their day, and the mocha wedding cakes!  The bride is a veteran in the wedding industry, so once engaged, she couldn’t wait to dive into the planning process and put her personal touch on every last detail.
The ceremony and reception were both held at the Please Touch Museum, a beautiful and very grand Beaux Arts style building built in 1876 for the Centennial Exposition.  Two hundred guests were in attendance, including the couple’s very handsome dachshund : )

The couple made use of antique family heirlooms like silver platters, vessels, candlestick holders, and handsewn linens to make the chupah.  Max and Me Catering passed tapas style eats all night long. The guests also enjoyed two sushi bars and finished off the evening with mocha wedding cake (mmmmm)! and several flavors of cupcakes served with shots of Milk.  Along with their loved ones, the newlyweds danced the night away to a twelve piece band. Many congratulations to Abby and Jeff…
