* Trend Snippet: The Black Sash Stays Strong
Posted on October 14th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Wedding Dress.
A few seasons ago, Vera came out with a collection that was all about the black sash. Fortunately, that trend has stayed strong. The dynamic contrast and subtle avant garde styling has us tirelessly enjoying the elongated life span of this trend. In Chicago, we saw several black-sashed stunners that you can bet will turn a head or two.

There is SO much to love about this wedding.
1. Conni + Clint are two stylish and cool peeps. Made for each other, you could say?
2. the WOW color palette

3. Rad photography by Anjuli.
4. Super trendy styling (including our fave- feathers) Come on… that archway?!? awesome.

Every aspect of the day was infused with creativity… the day not only embodied their love, but the things they love.

The San Diego Children’s Museum was the perfect space for a day of whimsical artistry.
Bright orange curtains made for an eyecatching backdrop… while patterned table runners fashioned a trendy, eclectic vibe.
Chalboard love.

Guests even had an opportunity to find their inner artist, by creating something for the newlyweds!

The evening was topped off with a plentiful dessert bar embellished with peacock feathers.

* Dessy Does it All
Posted on October 13th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Bridesmaids, Wedding Dress.
The fashion frenzy continues… We’re just giddy this time of year, when the collections for the following year are revealed. Here is some more goodness from our jaunt to Chicago.. One of the highlights was scoping out the new styles from the good people at Dessy. Between Lela Rose, After Six, Alfred Sung, and the Dessy Collection (all collections by the Dessy co.) we saw a little glitz, a little glamour, some things sweet, and some things sophisticated.
We’re lovin’ the soft mesh fabric and wide band of sparkle at the waist!
This one shoulder beauty is ultra glam, and the chiffon side ruching- looks sooo nice and flattering.
A few sweet cotton frocks were in the line-up. The look is fresh and simple with a natural waist and scalloped pocket details.
This knee length stunner is a perfect blend of modern sophistication… Love love love.
… And we couldn’t help but show you the latest from Dessy’s Destination bridal collection.. the soft, movable leaf-cut fabric, dropped waist, and gathered bodice is one to pin/bookmark/share!
This weekend we’re off to New York to see and share more 2012 fashion!
* Luxe for Less: Liz Fields & Lo.Ve.La
Posted on October 12th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Luxe for Less, Wedding Dress.
A few weeks ago we hopped a plane to get a first peek at the new dresses for the spring/fall 2012 seasons at Chicago Bridal Market. We found lots of gorgeous dresses for brides on a budget. Check out these ‘luxe for less’ looks from designer, Liz Fields:
The bridesmaid collection features distinct pops of color in silky fabrics and contemporary styles.
We love that Liz’s bridal collection, Lo~Ve~La, showcases sophisticated styling like bustier bodices, blush tones, and chic tiered skirts- all for attainable prices.
Stay tuned for more looks from Chicago!
* Stunning Shades of Grey.
Posted on October 11th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.
We certainly have a love of all things colorful, but when these black and white (and all the shades of grey) wedding photos came across our desks… there was something so magical. Of course, the bride and groom are as photogenic as can be, the mastery of Andrew Thomas Clifton was behind the camera, and the day, styled with simple loveliness.

Amy and John had a midsummer wedding in Huntsville, Alabama.
The ceremony took place at Big Spring Park, overlooking a Koi fish pond.

After a photoshoot of stunning contrasts, they headed indoors for a Creole-inspired reception at the Children’s Museum.

Hope you enjoy this knock-your-socks-off album… we sure did ♥

* Vintage Elegance in the Midwest
Posted on October 10th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.
Inspired by the idea of creating a new ’story’ together, Sarah and Jeff had a storybook-themed wedding. A day of sheer vintage elegance, we’re loving the antique blue and pewter palette and classic details.
Everything from Sarah’s Robert Bullock bridal gown, to the bridesmaid’s J. Crew dresses was in perfect style.
The pair met while attending the University of Madison, but they currently live in Germany where Jeff is a pro hockey player and Sarah is getting her Master’s Degree in counseling.
Notice the sweet storybook graphic on their sophisticated navy and white programs.
The couple was overjoyed to be married at the same church that Sarah’s parents had been wed in, the historic Westminster Presbyterian in downtown Minneapolis.
There was more classic beauty and elegant vintage styling at their Minikahda Club reception.

There’s lots more to see from Sarah and Jeff’s beautiful day in our real wedding gallery!

* DIY: Dipped Spoon & Cocoa Favors
Posted on October 6th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Do It Yourself, Favors.
There seems to be more of a chill in the air today than in the last few days… fall has officially arrived. What a perfect time to showcase our latest DIY from craft and party planning expert, Victoria Hudgins! As we think of falling leaves, Halloween, and the commencement of fall and winter weddings… what could be more sweet than these dipped spoon hot cocoa favors?
By Victoria Hudgins
Materials: white melting chocolate, hot chocolate mix and an assortment of spoons. Collecting spoons from your local thrift stores is a great way to get a fun and eclectic stash. They are very cheap to buy and once washed, they work wonderfully for this project. You will also need vellum bags (I buy mine here) and pretty napkins.
Step One: Compile the napkin, a serving of hot cocoa mix, a thank you note and a favor bag.
Step Two: Melt the chocoloate, following the directions on the package. Hint: stir the chocolate every 30 seconds to ensure it doesn’t burn. Once melted, dip each spoon (one per guest) into the chocolate and dry on a length of wax paper. They should set in about an hour.
Step Three: Drop a spoon- melted side up- into each favor bag. When the spoons are used to stir in the hot cocoa mix, the chocolate will melt, giving off an extra dose of sweetness!
*Alternate use, these spoons could also be stacked on a dessert bar to be used for stirring coffee and after dinner drinks!

* Toyin + Daniel’s Nigerian-American Wedding
Posted on October 5th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.
Andrew Thomas Clifton’s photos tell such a beautiful story…

A story of Toyin and Daniel’s exquisite Nigerian-American wedding in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Toyin looked ravishing in a Claire Pettibone gown… the Orange Blossom.
The ceremony took place in the back yard of a colonial style home built in the 1930’s, called Little Gardens.
There was so much rich family heritage incorporated into the day… Both of their families are Nigerian, so it was filled with both Nigerian and American traditions. Blue is the bride’s favorite color, while brown is the groom’s favorite color. They wove these two hues with splashes of orange for a- traditionally colorful- Nigerian wedding feel.

One of our favorite photos of the day was Toyin giving her father a big smooch. We love how Andrew captured such memorable close-ups.

Like is customary in both Nigerian and American weddings… there was tons of dancing all evening long!
Happy wishes to Toyin + Daniel!
