* Modern Carnival Wedding at Bear Flag Farm
Posted on December 31st, 2012 by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings.
Naturally, we wanted to close out the year with a bang, and what could be more celebratory than a carnival-themed wedding?! Chalinee and Craig are two vibrant, fun-loving Californians who were introduced thru mutual friends over a sushi dinner. They dated for five years before Craig proposed, and their wedding vision included great food, a colorful and modern palette, and a few non-traditional elements that made the day especially unique and unforgettable. Craig’s love of the outdoors, paired with the couple’s determination to have a great meal, led them to Bear Flag Farm, where they could indulge in a breathtaking landscape, farm-to-table menu, and even a ferris wheel! Enjoy these stunning photos by Anna Kuperberg!
When it came to the gown, Chalinee was all about texture. Watters’ Adelaide gown couldn’t have fit the role more beautifully! Each maid chose her own knee-length ivory frock, paired with a colorful shoe. The Bear Flag Farm team whipped up some gorgeous bouquets with coral roses, ivory blooms and succulents, lending a bright and modern look to the day.
The couple married on the farm’s cozy sunken lawn. They incorporated a Thai water ceremony to honor Chalinee’s heritage. Then, under a dramatic floral archway, they sealed their vows with kiss!
One heck of a reception followed, including more of those vibrant florals, a unique bento box meal, a silhouette portrait artist, and in lieu of a first dance, a first ride on the ferris wheel. See the rest after the jump!

Her dresses are known for their romantic, easy-to-wear silhouettes, but this season Sarah added a spin: sequence and metallic fabrics to create shimmer and glimmer all the way down the aisle. If you’re more of a statement jewelry kinda gal, her line of seriously sparkly accessories will make you swoon.

* DIY Wednesday: Chinese Yo-Yos
Posted on December 26th, 2012 by Kate. Filed under DIY Wednesday, Do It Yourself.

If your wedding venue is like many – throwing confetti or rice will not be an option. Don’t deprive yourself of a colorful goodbye. Make these simple Chinese yo-yos and be bid farewell in style. They are quick to make and can be styled to match your day perfectly.
Step One. You will need thin, long receipt paper to make the yo-yos. Enough paper to make yo-yos for over 100 people can be found right here.
Step Two. Print a design onto the paper with an inkjet printer; stripes, florals, monograms etc!
Step Three. Cut the paper down to 16 inch sections. Each flag will be 16 inches long.
Step Four. Roll each section around a wooden kitchen skewer. Secure with tape or glue at the base and finish off with a pretty piece of tape.
Step Five. Set out for guests to unravel and wave as they send you off!
