Pure Romance at the Houston Zoo by Jen Huang Photography

Naomi and Rachel’s Houston Zoo wedding is nearly too romantic for words.  The moment I caught the photos on Jen Huang’s gorgeous blog, I knew I had to share this beautiful story.  The couple married in a flurry of all things feminine and sophisticated in front of eighty loving guests near the reflection pools. Candlelight and soft florals highlighted the natural beauty of the venue.  The couple is sweet as can be, and we’re entirely honored to witness their deeply heartfelt union in this way.  (The photos do such an incredible job showing how so-in-love they are).  Add in the dress, the handmade details, the florals — I can’t help but swoon!

Naomi dreamed of a blush gown, but most of the dresses she tried on weren’t  available in the color. Unexpectedly, this dramatic Ines Di Santo ball gown swept her right off her feet.  The bridesmaids wore adorable ruffle Eden Maids frocks, complementing the look just so.

Naomi is a former floral designer, and it shows! She handled the vision and design, while Liz from The Nouveau Romantics executed it all flawlessly. The bouquet is a soft, stunning combination of  Juliet Garden Roses, Auswater Garden Roses, White O’hara Garden roses, Peonies, Ranunculus and more!

In January 2010, Naomi and Rachel met at a bar in Houston. Fast-forward to March 2011: Rachel surprised Naomi by packing both of their bags and picking her up from work. She had secretly contacted Naomi’s boss and requested a few days off of work for her. They took a long weekend at a private cottage, and Rachel proposed at a picnic she prepared! After fifteen months of diligent planning, they wed!

The couple shared these special quotes when taking their vows (and I’d be lying if I said that didn’t want to snag them for my own vows one day)…

Naomi to Rachel: “Even now, all possible feelings do not yet exist. There are still those that lie beyond our capacity and imagination. From time to time, when a piece of music no one has ever written, or a painting no one has ever painted, or something else impossible to predict, fathom or yet describe takes place, a new feeling enters the world.  And then, for the millionth time in the history of feeling, the heart surges and absorbs the impact.”—Nicole Krauss, The History of Love

Rachel to Naomi: “I love you also means I love you more than anyone loves you, or has loved you, or will love you. And also, I love you in a way that no one loves you, or has loved you, or will love you. And also, I love you in a way that I love no one else, and never have loved anyone else, and never will love anyone else.” –Johanathan Safran Foer, Everything is Illuminated
