Kitschy Seattle Engagement Session by Genevieve Pierson
Posted by Kate. Filed under Engagements

Here’s a big dose of color to nearly round out your week!  After getting engaged on a trip to the Oregon coast last summer, lovebirds Megan and Brian headed to a kitchsy trailer park mall in an industrial neighborhood of Seattle for an engagement sesh with Genevieve Pierson.  Megan says, ‘Brian and I met through mutual friends in college.  I asked him for the first date, as he was a little shy.  Our first date was at his place, painting and drinking red wine.  Shortly after he fell for my giant cats and it’s been true love ever since!’

These two look so presh in their Modcloth (her) and J. Crew (him) ensembles!

DIY Wednesday: Wedding Day Sewing Kit
Posted by Kate. Filed under DIY Wednesday, Do It Yourself

By Danyelle Mathews

We’ve all heard horror stories of wedding day mishaps that could have been avoided with some simple planning. Things like a torn hem and missing buttons are easy fixes if you have the right supplies on hand. By creating an emergency sewing kit you’ll be ready for any wardrobe malfunctions that come your way.

To create a sewing kit you’ll want to gather basic supplies:

safety pins • sewing needles • buttons and thread that match the bride’s and bridesmaid’s dresses

Attaching these items to felt pieces will help keep them organized in your kit.

Don’t forget to add

sewing scissors • seam ripper • fray check • a stain wipe or two

Package your kit up in a little wooden box and have it handy on the big day!

An Eclectic Fall Wedding by Rebekah Westover Photography {Part Two}

Continued from {Part One} - Photos by Rebekah Westover

After taking their vows at The Salt Lake Temple,  the newlyeds and their closeknit group of guests retreated to the Memorial House in Memory Grove.   During the spring and summer months, Becca and Jason would ride bikes to Memory Grove every Sunday and spend the afternoon picnicking and watching all of the dogs play. They fell in love with the area, and once they discovered the venue, it was a must for the reception!

The handmade décor was a labor of love.  Inspired by Anthropologie-esque repurposing of common materials into kitschy, creative décor items,  the couple salvaged glass bottles for centerpieces, utilized vintage sheet music for table runners, and pinned seating assignments on an antique dress form.  Roots prettied up the displays with a palette of autumn florals, tying it all together. Grace Harvell, of The Graceful Baker, prepared the dreamiest and most delicious, three-tiered carrot cake that Becca, Jason, and their guests had ever tasted!

As we sit and soak in all of the creativity, we’re wishing these two a lifetime of love…

An Eclectic Fall Wedding by Rebekah Westover Photography {Part One}

A wedding of two creative types always yields some serious inspiration, and Becca and Jason’s wedding was no exception.  The two met way back in the first grade and went all the way up thru high school together.  But it wasn’t until years later, when Becca was living in San Francisco and Jason in Idaho, that the two fell in love over long distance.  Becca is a contemporary ballet dancer, while Jason is an entrepreneur and graphic designer; together they designed a day that focused on their connection with close friends and family. They made use of November’s eclectic fall palette and created loads of charming décor for their Salt Lake City celebration.  These photos evoke such joy- a big thanks to Rebekah Westover for sharing them with us!

Head over to part two…
