A Funky Elegant Wedding Affair by Ben Q. Photography

No way around it—Silka and Trey are a couple with serious Texas swagger. From the groom’s custom double-breasted tux to the black and white striped wedding cakes, their October nuptials sat perfectly situated between the crossroads of funk and elegance, and we are majorly diggin’ it. Special thanks to Ben Q. Photography for capturing the fun night and sharing the pics with us! We love, love, love the details of this wedding—especially the unique bouquets and floral arrangements.

Introduced at a party, the couple bonded over a love of art and got engaged a year and a half into their relationship. Silka’s mother walked her radiant daughter down the aisle, meeting Trey at the striped platform that he built with his own two hands! A mariachi band serenaded guests as they moved from the ceremony site to the upstairs ballroom, where a reception full of fun surprises awaited.

The pink and black and white stripe color palette came alive on the dessert bar with custom confections by Layered Bake Shop. In between bouts of breaking it down on the dance floor, guests posed against a funky backdrop by Flock Together Foto Booth and tacked Polaroid images of themselves to a bulletin board guest book. As favors, the couple served custom blend bottles of “Covingchez” beer (the moniker is a mash-up of their last names) and dolled out flip flops. If there’s a guest that didn’t enjoy the pants off themselves, then we don’t want to know about it.

At the end of the evening, Silka swapped her long gown for a shorter, sparkly dress so she and Trey could enjoy the Vibora De La Mar, a traditional Mexican wedding dance in which the bride and groom stand on chairs and their guests run underneath them in a snake pattern. They honeymooned in Italy, and continue to live it up as one of the coolest man and wife duos we’ve ever seen in Dallas, Texas. Thanks again to Ben Q. Photography for sharing this fantastic day with us!

This was DEFINITELY “funky” without forgoing class, which can be hard to do these days with an over-the-top celebration like a wedding. They look so happy (could her scrunchy smile GET any cuter?), her bouquet was different lengths and unique blooms, and the desserts look SPECTACULAR!!! Even their rings look vintage and different from what’s out there now. I love every bit of this ceremony.
