Vintage-Modern Art-Deco Wedding by Joshua Goodman Photography

Sometimes, all a wedding needs to feel extra-special is a little touch of drama. Set in the sweeping halls of LA’s Union Station, Jackie and Ryan’s October affair has more than a touch—and we’re completely enamored. From the classic ivory, black, and gold color palette to that gorgeous floral altar, this wedding is definitely black tie chic meets California fun. Special thanks to Josh Goodman for sharing his gorgeous photos of the day!

Ryan and Jackie’s love story is one a lot of us can relate to: they met at work! He worked in finance, she was in the sales & marketing department, and they were friends for over two years before they realized they wanted something more. The couple spent the morning of their wedding getting ready at the nearby Biltmore Hotel, then rode the Metro to the ceremony!
Jackie took inspiration directly from the venue . “I love the art-deco classiness of Union Station,” she says. When it came to planning the reception, she opted for a simple, elegant decor scheme peppered with a mix of modern and vintage elements, such as branch centerpieces and escort cards displayed in antique suitcases.
After dinner, the bride’s cousin kicked off the celebration with a special surprise for the couple: she sang their first dance song! “It was breathtaking,” Jackie says of the evening. Congrats to the happy couple, and thanks again to Josh Goodman for sending this over!

I love the bride’s dress as well as the color of all those decorations. I’m a fashion designer and in my free time I make various kinds of decorations using mainly fabrics and the pictures from this wedding are a great source of inspiration for me. There’s a wonderful shop in my native Toronto which I discovered only recently called King Textiles and I’ll definitely buy the fabrics for my wedding dress there when that day finally comes.
