Heather and David’s Naval Academy wedding is sure to put some prep in your step! Done in classic shades of coral and navy, the early February nuptials stay true to the nautical nature of Annapolis with Lilly Pulitzer bridesmaid dresses, cozy pink cardigans, and a handsome groom in uniform. David and Heather met over lunch while she was visiting friends in Annapolis. They traded numbers before she flew back to Chicago, and the couple got to know each other the ‘new’ old-fashioned way—through long conversations over phone, text, and Facebook. Flight after flight, they made their long-distance relationship work. David’s proposal, however, was anything but quaint. After a long day of ice fishing in North Dakota (David’s home state),  he got down on one knee as a plane dropped hundreds of flowers over the frozen lake. His nieces and nephews appeared holding signs that read “will you be our aunt?”, and Heather said yes to the man of her dreams.

The bride worked with her mother and bridesmaids to decorate the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club for the reception. Antique keys and mason jars (two important symbols to the couple) governed the sweetly vintage decor, and were perfectly complimented by subtle pops of lace and burlap. Also adorable: the cheery pink and blue dessert bar. We’re absolutely smitten with the blueberry cupcakes and stacked ruffle cake by Sweet Hearts Patisserie.

After years of loving each other cross country, Heather and David have finally settled down—together—in Pensacola, Florida as David begins flight training for the Marine Corps. Sunny weather may be the norm in her new home, but the bride will never forget her chilly Mid-Atlantic nuptials: “Though it was cold, the warmth and love we felt on our wedding day was enough to keep us going!” Thanks again to Abby Grace for sharing the celebration with us—you can find even more photos in our full gallery!
