Fashion Friday: We Love Flutter Backs!
Posted by Sarah Zlotnick. Filed under Bridal Fashion, Bridal Market Spring 2014

From stylish send-off ideas to illusion backs, we’re  clearly a little bit obsessed with exit impressions here at Project Wedding. And what better way to keep all eyes on you than a pretty ruffle detail on the back of your gown? This sweetly charming trendlet is an ideal look for summer brides (show off that sun-kissed skin!), and we love that designers are doing it subtly and super-dramatically. So whether you want a little or a lot of of back ruffle, there’s still a gown for you!

A LITTLE: Amanda Garrett • Ivy & Aster
The look here is part Southern rustic, part forest fairy. Think whimsical and relaxed!

A LOT: Angel Sanchez • Anna Maier/Ulla-Maija Couture
Oversize ruffles are a much more dramatic (but still romantic) statement.

Ashley + Dustin: A Luxe Vintage Wedding by jHenderson Studios
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

Calling all glam brides! Get ready to be wowed by the amazing tablescapes in Ashley and Dustin’s Nashville wedding. From the glitzy chandeliers to the rhinestone-wrapped centerpieces, we’re loving the way this couple blended urbane and vintage aesthetics to create their own unique cosmopolitan look. Special thanks to jHenderson Studios for sharing the day with us!

“We wanted [our wedding] to feel modern, contemporary, and unique,” says the bride. “We wanted it formal, fun, and interactive for our guests, so we selected a great band and included a photo booth. Later on in the evening, we passed out glow sticks for our guests to use while dancing. We also had a live painter documenting the entire event.”

Thanks again to jHenderson Studios for sending over these pretty pictures! If you liked this elegant urban wedding, you should also check out Courtney and Adam’s shabby chic California affair and Katelyn and Brad’s juicy Colorado nuptials.

DIY Wednesday: Peony Bouquet
Posted by Kate. Filed under DIY Wednesday, Do It Yourself

By: Janie Medley; Photos by Marvelous Things Photography

We’re such suckers for peonies.. In all of their fluffy fullness, they’re just the perfect spring/summertime wedding flower.  And get this: we made this white peony bridal bouquet for under $20!  Here’s how:

Materials: 5 Stems of Peonies (purchased at Whole Foods, 12.99 per pk) • Dusty Miller (purchased at local garden center) • Floral Tape • Ribbon • 2 Pearl Pins • Scissors

Step One. Crisscross two stems of peonies and add two stems of dusty miller. Give the stems a turn and add two more stems of peonies and dusty miller..give the stems one last turn and add the last peony. Make any adjustments as needed.

Step Two. Hold the bouquet in front of a mirror to see if you are happy with the look and feel of your design.

Step Three. Wrap the stems with floral tape, then trim the bottoms of the stems to the desired length

Step Four. Wrap your choice of ribbon around the stems and secure the ribbon in place with one pearl pin in the back and one in the front of the handle.

There you have it…a pretty white peony bouquet for under $20.00!

Katy + Brian: A NYE Bash in Kansas by Jackie Cooper Photography
Posted by Kate. Filed under Real Weddings

As the weather heats up, we’re happily cooling off with this mid-winter Kansas wedding.  Katy and Brian first met as teenagers, dated for a time, them broke up during their first year in college.  After a five hear hiatus they reconnected on Christmas of 2008 and this time it was meant to last!   Since summer in Kansas is hot, and they wanted their reception to be an all-out bash, they set the date for New Year’s Eve.  It snowed a few inches the night before their wedding and it couldn’t have been more a beautiful wintry day.  They played up the end-of-year party theme with metallic accents and modern décor followed by an epic confetti drop at midnight!  Enjoy reveling in this gorgeous spread of photos by Jackie Cooper!

Since the pair reunited on Christmas, it was only fitting that they took their vows in the holiday-adorned Church of the Blessed Sacrament.  Katy wore a formal, full-length Justin Alexander gown for the ceremony, before changing into a party dress for the nighttime festivities.  Abode Venue was totally decked out for the celebration: minimalistic furniture made a modern impact  while lanterns and string lights lit up the dance floor!
