* For the Love of Bundt Cakes

Posted on February 7th, 2011 by Jeannie. Filed under Color Palettes, Wedding Cakes.

Besides their moist texture, bundt cakes are eternally cute and these chocolate mini’s specifically are just beautiful! Chelsea Fuss put this dessert display together for us, and I think it would be stunning to serve this to party guests. I am also absolutely struck with this chocolate brown and orange color palette.

I am feeling a little fruity today, thanks to Mary Swenson and her latest color palette idea. It’s all about orange and aqua, which is just fresh, eye-catching happiness on a table. Happy Monday to you all, and don’t forget to have your daily dose of fruit today.

* Tori Spelling’s Sunny Renewal Soiree

Posted on November 8th, 2010 by Jeannie. Filed under Color Palettes, Things we heart.

Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott celebrated their union with a very special renewal ceremony — and my fave bake shop, Sweet and Saucy, was in the house! Their color palette? Sunny yellow and cool grey. There are so many thoughtful touches and the day held a very hip, modern feel. The perfect pics are from famous photog Elizabeth Messina. The couple originally wed on the beach without family or friends in attendance- so this was a great way for them to honor their marriage and get to enjoy with those near and dear to them. Loving Tori’s short dress and the monochromatic theme as well.

* Embracing Color

Posted on October 8th, 2010 by Jeannie. Filed under Color Palettes, Things we heart.

I am becoming a bigger and bigger fan of an array of colors — not just  a two-hued palette — but three or four! Here is a perfect example of why: OhMyDeer recently revealed cards she created for two joyous and extremely colorful occasions - which I just admire and adore.

Don’t be afraid to incorporate several shades from the rainbow into your happy occasion. TGIF all!

* A Blue Wedding

Posted on June 8th, 2010 by Margaret. Filed under Color Palettes, Real Weddings.

Having a blue wedding is sometimes tricky to coordinate because very few flowers come in a shade of blue. When all the blue elements of a wedding come together, however, the effects can be absolutely beautiful.

The bride, Vera, was kind enough to share her story…

After eight years of courtship, the proposal happened during a Tahoe trip while we stopped at the Danner Summit for a short hike. No flower, no down on one keen and we even got lost finding our way back to the car ( oops! ) but it was the most perfect proposal.  (And the most perfect engagement ring!)

BLUE WEDDING all the way! I want the wedding to reflect our personality and have these elements – Chic, Crystal and Branches. Working for a florist as part time designer really helped to extend my overall vision since I have opportunities to observe many amazing weddings on site. My florist’s design has far exceeded my expectation and everything else just came together flawlessly.

* Fuschia and Navy Color Inspiration

Posted on May 28th, 2010 by Jeannie. Filed under Color Palettes.

Looking for something beyond pale or neutral colors for your event? Then think outside the box and don’t be afraid to consider bright or bold colors. The trick is to balance them with the right hues!

The flowers were chosen first - peonies - and the rest of the decor  was planned around their deep fuschia color. To temper such a bold tone, they was paired with classic navy blue and lots of white serving pieces.

If you’re creating a buffet or hors d’oeuvres table, like was done here, consider coordinating your food and drink to your scheme for a unified look. We found beverages with labels that worked perfectly for the table, and tying bits of navy blue ribbon around toothpicks were an easy, inexpensive garnish for the food.

Mixing and matching wedding colors can sometimes be tricky, but when it’s done well it can be absolutely awe-inspiring. That’s why I was so excited to see the colorful mix of flowers and bridesmaids dresses from Emily and Greg’s wedding on the shores of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Truly inspiring!

I heart the work of Seattle photographer Kate McElwee, who manages to capture every gorgeous detail and the authentic character of her brides and subjects. I adore this soft, romantic blue color palette — with hints of light pink and ivory. It’s kind of perfect for Easter weekend!

See more of this pretty wedding here!
