Wanting to make your wedding a little more green? Up cycle wine bottles to create these eye catching centerpieces.
Supplies: Wine bottles (Start saving ‘em or call around to local restaurants and offer to pick up empty bottles) • spray paint (Choose a combination of satin and glossy paint to add more interest) • primer • gold metallic paint • round paint sponges
Step One. In a well ventilated area, paint your bottles in light even coats. Don’t apply the paint too heavily or you’ll end up with drips. If your bottles are dark colored glass like brown or green, use primer first.
Step Two. When the bottles are dry gather your metallic paint and sponge brushes. Pour a small amount of the metallic paint onto a paper plate.
Step Three. Lightly dab one of the round sponge brushes into the metallic paint. Tap excess paint onto the paper plate.
Step Four. Gently dab the round paint sponge onto the bottle. Repeat to create a pattern you love.
Step Five. Add water and flowers; then arrange a mix of taller and shorter bottles on the reception tables.

Many couples display their engagement photos at the reception. Here is one creative way to showcase them in style. Hung in the windows of your venue, this simple photo project transforms your love shoot into custom “stained glass.” With Mother’s Day on our mind, we can’t help but think that this would also be a sweet gift for mom this weekend!
Materials: Printer, Tissue Paper, Embroidery Hoops or Backless Frames, Scissors, Engagement Photo Files

Step One. Print a selection of your favorite engagement photos onto white tissue wrapping paper. The easiest way to print on this type of paper is by taping it completely to a piece of computer paper and running it through an inkjet printer. You can also take the photos and tissue paper to your local copy store.
Step Two. Cut the printed photos to size by tracing the shape of the frame and trimming down with scissors.
Step Three. Carefully, take apart the embroidery hoop and position the cut photo as you would fabric. Secure the hoop and tighten if needed.
Step Four. String simple embroidery thread through the loop at the top of each hoop and hang in a window.
* DIY Wednesday: May Day Seed Bombs

Happy May Day! If you’re looking for an out-of-the-box, eco-friendly wedding favor, you’ll be smitten with the idea of seed bombs. Seed bombs are an easy way to grow vegetation without having to till the land. Bonus: they just so happen to be the perfect size to give to your wedding guests! These little cuties are also very simple to make and would be a great, get-your-hands-dirty project for you and your fiancé to tackle together.
Supplies: compost • water • wildflower seeds (native to your area) • clay (powdered-found at art supply stores) • fabric • twine • tag • scissors • water • bowl or pail
Step One • To make seed bombs, you’ll be combining 1 part seeds, 3 parts compost and 5 parts clay. This step can be messy so you might want to do it outdoors. Begin by mixing the seeds and the compost. Once the seeds and compost are combined, add the clay. Next, slowly add water until the mixture is moist and holds the shape of a ball.
Step Two • Form 1 1/2 inch spheres out of the mixture.
Step Three • Allow the seed bombs to dry in the sun.
Step Four • Once they’re dry, gather fabric, twine, scissors and a tag to package them up.
Step Five • Place a seed bomb in the center of a fabric circle and secure with twine.
