* DIY: Dipped Spoon & Cocoa Favors
Posted on October 6th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Do It Yourself, Favors.
There seems to be more of a chill in the air today than in the last few days… fall has officially arrived. What a perfect time to showcase our latest DIY from craft and party planning expert, Victoria Hudgins! As we think of falling leaves, Halloween, and the commencement of fall and winter weddings… what could be more sweet than these dipped spoon hot cocoa favors?
By Victoria Hudgins
Materials: white melting chocolate, hot chocolate mix and an assortment of spoons. Collecting spoons from your local thrift stores is a great way to get a fun and eclectic stash. They are very cheap to buy and once washed, they work wonderfully for this project. You will also need vellum bags (I buy mine here) and pretty napkins.
Step One: Compile the napkin, a serving of hot cocoa mix, a thank you note and a favor bag.
Step Two: Melt the chocoloate, following the directions on the package. Hint: stir the chocolate every 30 seconds to ensure it doesn’t burn. Once melted, dip each spoon (one per guest) into the chocolate and dry on a length of wax paper. They should set in about an hour.
Step Three: Drop a spoon- melted side up- into each favor bag. When the spoons are used to stir in the hot cocoa mix, the chocolate will melt, giving off an extra dose of sweetness!
*Alternate use, these spoons could also be stacked on a dessert bar to be used for stirring coffee and after dinner drinks!

* DIY Wednesday no. 2: Fall Velvet + Feather Headbands
Posted on September 14th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under DIY Wednesday, Do It Yourself.
Snag this trend for a steal by DIYing your very own velvet and feather headbands! These make fabulous bridesmaid gifts, and the best part is you can color coordinate as needed for the perfect wedding day accessory. Victoria Hudgins brings in rich textures and whimsical accents for the upcoming wedding season with this fall-friendly project.
Materials needed for each headband:
*Cheap crafting headband mold (find at craft stores or dollar stores)
*1/8 yard fabric in a rich textured velvet
*A couple of whimsical feathers that coordinate with your bridal party attire. (These can be found at craft stores, thrift stores, and quite cheaply online).
*Fabric glue (or hot glue if you are careful!).
Step One: Measure the headband to the fabric and cut a line double the width of your band.
Step Two: Starting at one end carefully glue this strip around the band being sure to straighten out any gaps or bumps in the fabric along the way. Secure with a very small glue line around the inside of the band.
To make the side bow: Cut a piece of fabric 2 inches long by 1/2 inch wide. Fold in thirds and secure along the back with glue. Cut another piece 1/4 inch wide by 1 inch long and run it down the middle of the bow front, gluing in back to create the shape.
To finish the headband: Place between 1-3 feathers in a pleasing combination along the side of the band, starting about 1/3 of the way up (you may want to use a mirror to figure out what placement will work with your custom sized feathers). Once in place, use a dab of glue to secure the feathers and top with your velvet bow. Let the band dry overnight before presenting to your wedding party.
Wrap the headbands in pretty tissue, attach a sweet “thank you” tag and watch your favorite girls walk down the aisle in a very pretty bespoke style.

* DIY Wednesday
Posted on September 7th, 2011 by Kate. Filed under Do It Yourself.
I just love a good project… I’m musing about this rustic wood centerpiece (& escort card) tutorial we received from the *fabulous* Victoria Hudgins last week.
Here’s a peek into how to get that oh-so-rustic reception charm, but you can catch the full article here. Like a cable knit sweater on a fall day, engraved wood emits a feeling of cozy warmth.
According to Victoria, engraving is addicting- so plug in those wood burners and let the fun begin!
