* Suzanna + James: A Very NYC Engagement by Alea Lovely Fine Art Photography

Posted on March 19th, 2013 by Kate. Filed under Engagements.

Suzanna and James’ engagement photos make NYC look like just about the most romantic place on Earth… from the Brooklyn Bridge to the steps of a brownstone, Central Park to Times Square, Alea Lovely captured the bride and groom-to-be, dressed up, dressed down, and dressed for a night on the town in soft fading sunlight…

Alea says… This was a lovely New York City engagement. Suzanna and James just got engaged a few months ago and are planning their wedding for 2013. It was beautiful in the fall for New York and we shot in Central Park, on the Brooklyn bridge and in Times Square to get the full feeling of NYC. We went with colored attire for the park that gave it a very fall look, and stuck with clean dark formal looks for the bridge and Times Square. I felt that look was very “New York” and fitting for the couple, as the bride-to-be is an attorney and the groom works for the city as a developer. New York is their home and I wanted to give them photographs that resonated with their personalities and their story.

* Kitschy Seattle Engagement Session by Genevieve Pierson

Posted on January 31st, 2013 by Kate. Filed under Engagements.

Here’s a big dose of color to nearly round out your week!  After getting engaged on a trip to the Oregon coast last summer, lovebirds Megan and Brian headed to a kitchsy trailer park mall in an industrial neighborhood of Seattle for an engagement sesh with Genevieve Pierson.  Megan says, ‘Brian and I met through mutual friends in college.  I asked him for the first date, as he was a little shy.  Our first date was at his place, painting and drinking red wine.  Shortly after he fell for my giant cats and it’s been true love ever since!’

These two look so presh in their Modcloth (her) and J. Crew (him) ensembles!

* Colorful County Fair Engagement Session by Look Here Photography

Posted on January 24th, 2013 by Kate. Filed under Engagements.

I’m totally loving all of the engagement session goodness we’ve had to share this week!  With the winter holidays behind us, and Valentine’s day upon us, ’tis the season, as they say!  Most importantly, I love how couples and photographers are coming together to create charming, heartfelt, stylish vignettes that tell the couple’s love story.  Take these two cuties, for example.  Eric and Rachel have planned a Milwaukee wedding day, but Rachel really wanted to incorporate some aspect of her hometown of Greenville, Ohio into the wedding planning process.  She has so many childhood memories of the county fair, so she dreamed up a whimsical concept.  The colorful setting in the late afternoon, summertime sunlight was quite the photographer’s playground; Amber of Look Here Photography did a fab job capturing these two in action!

Rachel wore a darling summer dress from Anthropologie, and hand-in-hand with her colorfully preppy clothed fiancé, they traipsed the fair ground and Greenville sites: the brick gum wall at the Maid-Rite (where people leave their mark with, ahem, used gum), game stations, a vintage photobooth, and the ferris wheel!  Sigh, what fun it is to be in love in the summertime… Big congrats to these two!

* A Brooklyn Engagement by Amber Gress Photography {Part 2}

Posted on January 22nd, 2013 by Kate. Filed under Engagements, Photography.

An engagement session so nice we had to feature it twice! After kicking off the celebration with bubbly St. Germain cocktails (see the first part of their shoot here), Colin and Masha slipped into some fancier duds and stepped out onto the streets of Brooklyn. Stylist Jenna Cantagallo rocked the glamorous, easy-going vibe, while photographer Amber Gress was on hand to capture the magic.

Here, the pair – who met at a party in Manhattan’s Lower East Side – strikes a few dramatic poses in front of a classic brownstone rowhouse. It’s darn near impossible to not love their unique vibe of easygoing glamour. We’re swooning over their style selections, from Masha’s sequined one-shoulder cocktail dress to Colin’s crushed velvet blazer (both sourced from their very own closets).

Congrats again to the gorgeous couple, and many thanks to Amber for sharing these amazing photos with us!

PS—To kick off 2013, Amber is offering a limited number of free engagement sessions to couples based in or traveling to the New York City area during the month of February. Find more details on her blog.  Let’s just say, we’d make the trip to jump on that opportunity!
