* Candy Buffet
Posted on March 3rd, 2009 by Margaret. Filed under Do It Yourself, Wedding Cakes, Wedding Favors.
I thought it might be fun to feature some guest bloggers on the Project Wedding blog just to get some variety in point of view. Our first guest post is from my dear sister Kathy, who recently designed a candy buffet for her very best friend from high school.

* Cupcake Tiers by Sprinkles Cupcakes!

Mmmmmmmmm … can I say YUM when it comes to Sprinkles red velvet cupcakes??? Even my sister, who works as a pastry chef at a trendy upscale restaurant in SF, was so impressed by the taste. But that’s not all Sprinkles is known for! Look at how GORGEOUS these cupcakes are. And for the price of $3-4 per cupcake, it’s actually cheaper than most traditional wedding cakes!
And did I mention that Sprinkles has a 5-star rating on Project Wedding?
Who would have known that a celebrity-endorsed piece of sugary heaven would also be an affordable wedding cake alternative? Now this is what I call luxury for less!

I have been in love with the couture cakes from the Cake Girls within weeks of my engagement. Here are some of my favorite cake creations for anyone who is looking for a unique “something blue.”
For the top row, a beautiful jeweled flower adds a bit of glamour to the white ribbon against the blue fondant, while to the right a floral motif decorates the white buttercream four tier cake. In the second row, we have two amazingly beautiful square cakes with tiny floral details that soften the modern chic look of the cakes. In the third row, we have two traditional round wedding cakes, with small dots and blue gross grain ribbon on the simple chic cake on the left, while a grand medallion and starfish lend a royal beach feel to the cake on the right.

Below are some gorgeous inspiration from the ultra-talented Cake Girls. In the first row are two modern chic cakes with a delicate pink floral accents to give it a touch of softness. In the second row are two show-stopping cakes that will floor your guests - with an ultra-luxurious five tier cake with dark chocolate embellishments on the left, and a chocolate brown cake with whimsical butterflies and swirls on the right. The cakes in the third row are perfect with a traditional wedding style with a little bit of old school glamor.
